Be aware this office is currently still not open to the public as of January 2022. They DO have a physical drop-box, where you can leave your completed applications and materials, but you have to get the security guard to let you in in order to access the drop-box... which is a bit odd. It's been over two weeks, and I still haven't heard anything or received any of my original materials back. We'll see...

Do not bother calling, no one answers the phone. Instead complete an online application on the SSA website (make sure it is the official site and not a scam) and go in person. I went today may 16, 2022, and despite the sign outside, you do not need an appointment to enter the building. You will be directed to sign in and receive a ticket. Waiting time was about 30 minutes for me. Bring a book cuz u cant leave to do errands or u may lose ur spot. Btw tall white guy at window 6 was really nice and efficient. Pretty easy process.

It has been 4 days since Iu2019m trying to make an appointment. They donu2019t answer the phone, and if they answer after 30 min they just hang up on me every time while Iu2019m talking. Could not make an appointment! Do your job ladies, that what you are getting paid for with our tax money ! And yes they donu2019t even tell their name!

While booking the appointment took me 3 days, I must say once I got the appointment it was a very smooth ride. The security guard was helpful and greeted me nicely. The lady who took care of me at window 14 was very kind, and helpful.

My experience today February 24/2022 at 9:15am when I called nice and decent asking for help and explanation, a lady answered the phone, she never told me her name but insisted on subjects I did not need to ask or know about, refused to tell me her name as I objected on her way of talking to me, so I said Good bye, but I called again 10 minutes later, she recognized my number and voice so she pretended different voice. I told her my name and asked her name - she hesitated, and after my persisting, unwillingly she said SSA Mrs Miller, and I wonder. She told me she could do something to my data there. Can she? As she left me upset and shivering - than she called me back - pretending a different voice - OMG, she made me a Bad Day without my intent.. Never again there. Is she the only one working there?nWhat a humilation, stress and tears.nnJ.RadnichnNotary Public Mobile& ApostillenCourt Interpreter Medical& LegalnEnglish/Bosnian/Russian/Croat/Slovene/Italian

Very fast service, 20 min wait, 10 mins at the counter. Very nice gentleman, helped me with everything I needed and even had some light conversation. He's a star public service employee!

One of the very bad services we were their may 3rd 2002 around 3.40. Lady works on front window she didn't help at all because they close at 4pm. She gave us lame excuse not to proceed because it will takes her time.

Rude and unknowledgeable employees!!!! Was told the wrong information!!! I submitted what was asked of me just to be denied my sons ss card. Resubmitted the new info requested and they claim they never received it. Hire new employees who actually care!!!!!!

I have been trying to call them to make an appointment with them since last 3 days and every time I call I am almost on hold for 30 mints and once they answer the phone without listening you they just keep hanging up on you or either transfer your call on voice message. Such a horrible customer service.

I called just for a simple question but they ignored my call, ended it consciously and redirected me to someone who is out of office. We pay several taxes for us to be heard and served, and to be ignored.

Although the office seems under-staffed, especially after Covid, they make an effort to be helpful--Ms Mora helped, and especially Ms. Lopez!

Website showing office hours but when I went to make a transaction the guard said we are not open and told me call the this number and closes the door. Itu2019s scary where your contributions go.

If you are trans, come with their own policies annotated because they will try to refuse legal services.

Horrible I've been calling for the past 3 hours a women answered and told me they were closed and she couldn't help me without further hearing me out only to tell me she was going to transfer me to someone who could help which led to her hanging up so I called back been on hold for over a hour and then someone pics up n has me on hold for another 30 minutes only to hang up on m this is nuts

At least now theyu200b have the tickets numbers automatic dispenser, where you put your information. It's gets busy. Line before they open. But that's what it is. Waiting area is clean and new. The workers are helpful and polite.

It is unfortunate that you are not given a chance to speak. Unprofessional staff and expect them to hang up on you without getting no answers.

I called to see about getting a corrected social security card but unfortunately I did not qualify for an in person appointment. I was instructed to leave my original documents at a drop box located within the office. This drop box is available from 9am-4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. Also, if you should opt this route, there is a security guard that must open the door and accept your docs to leave in the drop box. He mentioned that I could follow up in 3 weeks to request a status on application.nn3/3- UPDATE: I received all of my original docs (woohoo!) but nothing else so I contacted the office to determine if my application was approved (which it was according to the representative). He mentioned that the turn around time to receive original docs is 2 weeks and 4 weeks to receive a new social security card.

People that work there, please remember the day you took a job interview and be kind to others in this difficult time.

This office has the WORST customer service! There is one lady -Miller, who is very unpleasant and rude! We are not asking for free service. The tax payers of Illinois paid to receive services and we should receive them with kindness.

Tried to ask a question over the phone. The lady was hostile, unwilling to listen and unhelpful.

Whoever answered it was very rude and just hung up on me I had a few more questions but he just hung up on me unbelievable what service

I thought they were open now because it says so on Google maps. But no. They are still closed and you need to call and make an appointment. Hope you don't make a mistake like me and waste time.

I had a very helpful and easy experience when I made a visit here. The agent who helped me was extremely kind and went out of her way to make sure I got what I needed and all my questions were answered. I was treated with kindness, respect and dignity. The process was efficient and based on the time of day and how crowded it was, my 30 minute wait time was well worth it.

Today I was called to SS office at Lawrence in Chicago because on line there no information I had to know about my account. Ms Miller was so rude to me and hung out on me. ud83dude44

Very good service, short waiting. I was there on a Friday around 11:30. Check the Google popular times before you go there, worked pretty good for me.
