Office is closed due to COVID, appointments are supposed to be made via phone call, but nobody is picking the phone here, you will stay on hold for 30-45 minutes, then the computer will ask you to call back later and cut the call. Plus they have the national SSA phone number on their doors instead of their phone number. I called the national phone number and two other offices, unfortunately they are working base on zip code , so all of them gave me this office number to contact them and make an appointment here. I donu2019t know what to do to have my calls answer, I am calling pretty much every weekdays.

If I could give 0 Stars I would. Leave it to my ppl to F%$# stuff up for their own kind. If you don't like your job find something else. if it bothers you to deal with ppl find a job that you don't have to. Stop hating yourself so much!nnI sent my paperwork in to have my named changed. I received my card with a misspelling. I contacted them back and now it's been 5 months. Very unprofessional. I dread having to do anything at SSA. They never ever ever answer the phone and there's no one holding them accountable.

The worst experience ever. They took my SSC for a replacement back in November until now, nothing. When I call the main office, my information regarding the change is not even registered into the system ... As of today, I have no card to show in case I need to. I called several times but no one will ever answer the phone. They only see by appointment. I don't know what to do anymore.

I went to apply for an SSN, never got a card. When I called to follow up, they said there was no record of any application and my window has passed because of my work authorization. Worst experience ever

Paid express mail to send in my name change form and important documents. USPS tried to deliver twice. USPS said they were closed, called this location's office number to have them confirm they are OPEN.nnWent to pick up my documents from the post office to go there in person. Employee cars in the lot. Another lady was in the front telling me they told her to push her documents under their door and leave them. There is not enough space to push anything through the door. No drop box. No one answering the phone.nnWhat are these people getting paid for?nnSo frustrating. Waste of time and money.

I am very satisfied with the services that I received, I was a bit sceptical when I saw the bad reviews however, I decided to move forward and sent my original documents although, with reluctentcy. The process was very quick I received my documents back very quickly and also my new social security card with my new married name. I would recommend this office because they took away my scepticism. Thanks for the quick response guys!

This location has been a very busy, yet efficient office, for the 7 years I have come, for their services. Expedient and helpful, in EVERY facet!!! A model of professionalism.

This is a very slow location and you will have to wait. One will have to wait like 1-3 hours to be served. If it does be packed you will have to stand I would recommend to come here later in the month or call the main customer service line. The location does have parking but no close restaurants. The gas station and restaurant that is close is some distance from the location. The location has 2 buses that can help you get to the office.nnThe best Social Security office I would recommend to everybody is the one up North. The one up North you take the Lawrence bus to get there. When you get off you will see a Wendy's and the public aid office across the street. Walk one block and the Social Security office Up North is there. This office is the fastest and best office in Chicago.

More than 1,200 miles are between us---Pat and me. Your return phone call was prompt. I'm glad I called first thing this morning because it was meant for me and Pat. This was our time. I appreciate your tone of voice. You made me feel comfortable and that it was okay for me to rustle through my papers to find answers to your questions. You engaged with me by asking some questions that made me put my thinking cap on and search. I felt slightly anxious. However, your calming, consistent volume and manner gave me my own permission that I could make some noise and look until we were ready to move on to the next item of business. I hope you will find this review on one of Google's three SSA locations in CHICAGO. I watched ,listened, and sang to Nickelback's Someday after we hung up. I'm looking for a music video that talks about life being somewhat REPITITICIOUS. I have you in mind. Thank you Pat. By the way you remind me of my Mother. Both of you are helpful.

my son applied for his social security card 8 months ago and he have not received his card to this day. The customer service is very poor. They made him send his ID and now he do not have identification. This is crazy I need to have someone look into this. For this reason also unemployment has denied his claim and he had a job interview and could not provide adequate identification so he did not get the job. I really need to find out who can I speak with regarding this.

The person I worked with was very thorough and helpful.

The Joliet IL social security office is very outstanding. I also drove 45 minutes to an hour from Chicago Heights IL just to get there. I choose this location after reading so many postive reviews and boy and I'm glad I did.nnMy child was approved for Ssi and instead of her getting the full amount of $750.00 the staff at Chicago Heights IL was only giving her $350.00.nnAt Chicago heights office not only did i have to wait 5 hours. When I went in person to talk to the worker assigned to me I was assigned to an african american woman she was very rude nasty acting and un professional she told me that I can't use any of my daughter money to pay on some of the bills and told me not to even touch a penny of her moneynnHow can I cash it if I can't touch it. She act like she was talking to a alcoholic or crack head. Im not neither and besides paying my bills the rest go on my daughter. I dont buy my self clothes purses nothing it goes all on hernnto make a long story short the lady at Joliet office told me all the bills my child was allowed to help with by percentage.nnShe explained that Joliet gets a lot of people coming in from Chicago Heights and other areas because of the horrible treatment they get at other ssi offices.nnShe called the ssi office in Chicago heights IL spoke to the regional manager and let her know that it was very wrong and very un proffesional the way my worker handle the case.nnShe fix my daughter case and a few days later she got her missing money and now get her right amount.nnI had to deal with a white lady to get results and I'm african amennI was told they owed my daughter some more thousand of dollars and that she was going to try to help me to recover her money.nnShe said the staff at Chicago heights IL messed her case and money up very bad.nnTip to Joliet IL ssi staff be very proud that you all have an excellent reputation and that you have people coming in from all over just to get treated fairly and like a human being. God bless you all and keep up the excellent worknnTip to Chicago heights you should be ashame at how low your ratings are and see what people have wrote in the review's about dealing with your un professionalism and rudeness. Take some pride on how you deal with the public. You all look very bad.. Its 2019 time for a changennPs. Also the office on 95th and cottage are like the people in Joliet IL i have a very postive experience when I go there. Im in and out fast and treated with respect. I just read the reviews and i see that it has changed in chicago 95 but when i went last years this is ehat I experienced in Chicago on 95th cottage

Took my aunt to file a death claim. Saw a lady named Archer. She was clueless. Stopped the interview to answer her cell phone. Very unprofessional. Should have taken her to the office downtown.

This place is horrible, doesn't even deserve ONE STAR. Wait time is 3 hours plus [if your lucky] been in here since 10am and it's almost 3pm and I haven't been seen yet. They really need to come up with a better process, this just terrible ppl have to wait this long for service.....Where are the negative stars at...
    Jocilyn B
It's a public office so I expected a wait but it wasn't that bad. Of course I had a phone and a book with me. When I was called the employee was very helpful and nice.
    Vanessa Laurence
