I tried calling this morning to only get some guy, who wouldn't even give his name, who sounds like he hates doing his job and wouldn't really give me the time of day. If someone is going to sigh and then say social security when they answer then that person needs to find a new job. I need to get a temporary copy of my card so I can start my job, and the d-bag working told me to go online and wait for the mail in.nnOh and the office is closed in person so GOOD luck at this dump

There phone lines have been down, its ridiculous, you have to call for an appointment but you can't call when the number doesn't work. You can't walk in without an appointment and they won't make you an appointment there you have to call. ud83dude2aud83dude2d

The SS is closed due to Covid, so everything is by Mail. Having talked to the local office I was confident I had all the correct information mailed for my son's new SS card. 4 weeks later I received everything back saying I needed proof who I was. When I called SS I unfortunately talked to Jose who was a very rude person. Told me I had to send my Drivers license . Jose you are very rude and should think about getting out of customer service. 4 weeks have gone by and I have no idea where my paperwork is and either does SS. Amy is very nice to talk to by the way! Still waiting.....

Spoke to Mr. Branch. I have called several times over the last few months trying to be issued a social security card. I tried to make a complaint but he said that he was the supervisor. Then when I spoke with him today he told me he wasnt the supervisor but wouldnt tell me who is. He refused to let me make a complaint over the phone because he said I had already been helped. I havent because whenever they say they will mail me something it never shows. I am at my wits end trying to get a simple card and still no help, no answers, no nothing.

Tried to contact the office to find out how to change my name after marriage. Treatment from Jose was rude, disrespectful, and unhelpful. I am hesitant to mail in my actual drivers license and was told I cannot be helped; no explanation offered on how I am to go with no identification in the interim. Here is an awful use of tax dollars on an archaic system that should just open to the public. This is not acceptable treatment for following the laws and rules.

Worked with Amy who was prompt and helpful, just hope you don't get Jose who has many horrible reviews on here. Calling this office is no fun but some people there are decent.

I called the La Crosse Office the day before to see what I needed to get a SSN for my son (adopted) because I heard horror stories of the La Crosse Wisconsin Office. I brought in all the documents the employee told me to bring (court order, birth certificate). The employee at the window said I needed other documents and I told them I called the day before to verify what to bring. The employee said I was given the wrong information, and made condescending comments because I did not know the name of the hospital where my adoptive son was born. I walk out and come back in about 1/2 hour later see a different person at the counter and they processed everything without any issues. Seems like it would be a standardized process because it is kind of a big deal.. What a joke

Called during u201cregular business hoursu201d, sat through multiple automated messages about things that did not pertain to my call, finally was told to press 0 to talk to a live person, but when I did the automated message said my call could not be completed as dialed and hung up on me. This is especially unhelpful for an office that is currently closed for in person services because of Covid.

Very rude for a simple task of obtaining replacement cards. Spoke over me and spoke to me like I was a child and had somehow interrupted his day! Iu2019ll go to the SS office in a different town!

I went to this SSA office to get a new card after getting married (name change). I called ahead of time to schedule an appointment, but was told I didn't need one. I was a bit skeptical since the SSA website said I needed an appointment. I was pleasantly surprised at the speed in which I was seen.nnI arrived around 10:15 AM on a Friday without an appointment. I signed in at the kiosk and before I even sat down, I was called to the window. I already filled out the form that was needed for the name change, so I think that sped up my visit quite a bit, but overall, it was very fast and easy.nnI was slightly annoyed that I couldn't get my driver's license immediately at the DMV (takes 24 hours for the system to process the name change), but I don't think that's on the fault of the SSA office. It has to do with the new Real ID's the DMV uses.

I did a quick location search for this office, saw the hours posted for a Wednesday (9-3:30), drove approx 30 miles to the office only to find a piece of paper taped to the door stating Wednesday hours of 9-noon.....REALLY?? Guess this is a govt office for you...ridiculous hours of operation, and free will to change them at their discretion. Thanks, Social Security, for your continuedgoodefforts to serve the public. I strongly suggest you make a phone call before making the trip.

Is anyone else having problems receiving there State SSI? My son is on disability and hasn't received a check in 6 months. When I went to the office to see why, they said they didn't have enough help to process all of the paperwork that is coming in and that his pile was sky high. I send paperwork in every month and on time. He said to resend it. I did two months ago and still nothing. Thank goodness Federal is helping. Sad!!

Very courteous, quick and respectful service. You take a number on entry and several window personnel move right along even over the lunch hour. Nice clean rest rooms open to those waiting. Solved 2 problems in one visit. A real example of excellent civil service provided.

I keep calling and the guy keeps hanging up in my face. Rude

I've made 3 trips to the SS Office for the same unresolved reason. Each time I get someone different ...with a different answer or different requirement to the resolution. I jump through the hoops, do what they say....repeat repeat repeat like it's the first time they've heard from me ...VERY CONDESCENDING. I'm going in circles with a time sensitive issue and no one seems to know anything for certain. I've tried mail and phone instead...no response to my inquiries or appeals ...they just continue with the original problem. I must be invisible !!

So I went to the SSI building today and I got this 70 something year old women that was helping me. Ok so when I tell you this lady rude as can be its sad because you suppose to be there to help and she was doing the opposite. And what really made me mad she going to talk loud and say something that's going on with my case out loud she Do Not need to be up there talking to people like she do. That's not professional at all for you to be working under the government and acting like that.

Service was fast, but they assured me that I could use the receipt after I changed my name with them right away at the DMV. DMV will NOT take the receipt!!! They need 24 hours after you go to the social security office before my name was changed in the computer system!!! I wasted over an hour at the DMV to be turned away.

There is an older woman working there who is a total moron and makes every trip to the window into a big production no matter how simple it may be. You take a number when you come in but if I see I will get her I just leave. There is a guy working at the window (perhaps the only one I've seen) who is excellent as well as a couple of the younger women. The number of stars depends on who you get so I went with 3.

Everyone i've dealt with is helpful, compassionate to your problems and really nice to deal with. Shala is the person I dealt with the most and she goes above and beyond what you'd expect! Thanks

Mrs Fourney in Chicago is a wonderful and very smart worker for Social Security. She has true empathy
    Lauren Smrcina
'Gentleman' at the window was very condescending. Things get stolen and lost, especially during a move... he had no right to call me dumb for my stuff getting stolen.
