I talk with Andy regarding survivor benefits. He was very pleasant and helpful. I was instructed on how to obtain the necessary documents and had an appointment set for early the next week. I also knew my estimated monthly payment amount, and retroactive estimate as well prior to ending the call. It was a very easy and pleasant interaction.

I called two different times prior to dropping off SS-5 completed form and marriage license, verifying required documents. 2 differ people at the office said those are the only documents needed for name change for US citizen. I get mail back from SS office saying I need proof identification. If I would have known, I would have taken more time to go to DMV to get paper drivers license.

I'm NOT giving a poor review to the Janesville Social Security facility in any way. I AM giving a VERY POOR review to someone by the name, Adam. I've spent a considerable amount of time trying to understand Social Security Retirement, and SSI, as I just became eligible and this is all new to me. I called today, 2/24/2022 at 3:50 p.m., when agentlemananswered the phone,Social security. When I gave him my name, as most people usually do when beginning a phone conversation, he said, what is it you want ma'am?When I began to explain the reason for my call, he kept interrupting me sayingwhat is your question! I'm very busy! After having to shout over top of him interrupting me, he said that I should just take the letter that I received from SSI, and throw it in the trash, that everyone gets the same letter and that he was very busy! I'm busy too! Whether he's busy or not is not my concern, but a decent answer to my question in a polite manner is! I could tell that he was a younger person, not nearly eligible for Ss Retirement, who has no empathy or patience for the people that he's supposed to be helping. I apologize to the Social Security facility in Janesville. This is not directed ar you. Everyone that I've dealt with until now has been patient, polite and helpful

Got married recently and my wife needed to get her name changed. There was no indication that an appointment NEEDED to be made and ONLY for emergencies. They expect you to drop vital documents into their mailslot with the claimwe will get them back to youhow about you just open up and stop wasting my extortionist tax rates that you charge me and start carrying around a potted plant with you wherever you go to replace the oxygen you waste.

Drove here after getting my marriage certificate (got married recently) to get a name change. I open the door, and am told I have to do it by phone. I come back outside and call, only for the lady on the phone to tell me I'm supposed to mail it in or use their dropbox ONLY. Except I can't use the dropbox because they won't let me in and won't tell me what I need.

Very rude and when you do call and tell them your change of address, the person on the phone doesn't put it in the system. Therefore you will not get paid and of course it's your fault.nPoor operation.

Cannot call the office. Stick you calling an 800 number you wait 45 minutes with elevator music with a migraine. Person answering phone zero help and hangs up on you.

Went to change my name for the first time. Lady was very mice amd wasn't irritated by Amy of my dumb questions. Thank you!

I was calling in because I had put the wrong names on the form for my daughters service providers. And that's exactly what I said to the man I was on the phone with. He just went off the rails and started going off on mehow do you not know your daughter name? What kind of mother doesnt know their child's name? How many children are you filing for? Do you even know these kidshe obviously misunderstood what I was saying so I said it again, I put the wrong names of my daughters providers on the form and I needed to fix them, I didnt put the wrong name for MY CHILD. He wasnt even trying to understand. I tried being nice and polite but he was horrible and just set an phone interview with another lady. She was great, nice and understanding actually wanting to help me and my daughter but I cant believe you have these type of people working there. People with disabilities call here do you not train your staff to be cultural competent? How to navigate interactions and understand the people you are talking to? I am able to express myself decently but some people cant do that your staff needs to be able to handle interactions better. I regret not asking for his name but I really just wanted the interaction to end because it really made me uncomfortable. Please train your staff better and screen them

Very unhelpful. A name correction was needed, and I was told by a SS rep that had to be done IN PERSON. The website says a name correction can be made by making an appointment; the person I talked to on the phone said there are still no in-person appointments (due to the pandemic). Instead, a person is expected to put ORIGINAL documents like driver's license, passport, etc. in a drop box and leave them there for review! You've got to be kidding! A little hard to even drive home legally an hour away when I have to leave my driver's license there. Every other business is putting precautions and policies in place so people can safely conduct business in person, but I guess not here. Ridiculous.

Needing to get my SS card replaced and I have weird circumstances surrounding my birth which I had questions as to how I should fill out the paperwork. They u201cdidnu2019t know u201c and WOULD NOT give me an appointment. They suggested that I use the drop box after completing my form. Obviously I cannot do this if I do not know how to properly fill out said form. And I am not ok with leaving my 10 or so extra documents in a drop box. This needs to be fixed! We can make appointments or walk in pretty much anywhere besides the social security office, absolutely awful. I feel bad for the elderly that might need help currently, because they probably wonu2019t get the help they need.

This is the worst site I ever visited. I couldn't get any answers I needed online. I had SS questions and they sent me to a tax consultant. I called the 800 number to sign up for Medicare and they just said nobody is available and hung up.

I drove to this location. This office is still closed to public according to the signs in the window. It states appointment only available in an emergency. I called as directed & I was denied assistance. 1.) I was instructed to go online which not everyone has that as an option, in order to print a mail in form. 2.) If you complete the online new card request you have to have a cellphone which not everyone has. In addition you're asked for an email address. All to create a My account. After you have to giveaway all your personal info in hopes of receiving it promptly to find out it will potentially take a minimum of 19 days to receive a new card. It's already been 7 days & my request hasn't even been reviewed for the possibility of approval.. This affects people from acquiring loans from their financial institutions or even job prospects. More than discouraging

My son wanted a summer job. His SS card has his wrong last name. His Birth cert has correct name that he has had for 15 years...ONLY name he has ever had! I send what they tell me to and they send it back and we have gone round and round for 2 months! Lady put me on hold today when I called to give her info from Register of Deeds. Never came back. I called again, she answered and told me phones and internet went out!!! So she couldn't help me today!!! Ummm lady, YOU JUST ANSWERED THE PHONE!!! The people there are rude and unhelpful! Thank goodness I don't need to deal with them daily!
    Danny Fischbach
I tried to call, the first time the man who answered the phone was incredibly rude. The second time I tried to call inquiring about an appointment for a name change, I was on hold for five minutes and when they finally picked up they didn't even say anything before immediately hanging up.

Recently called to get information. A woman who quickly stated her name, rushed me as to why I was calling. I stated I needed to do an appeal AS PER the letter received through Social Security Administration. She said I didnu2019t have to go through Social Secuirty, but through the State of Wisconsin. Again, per the mailed letter, it stated I had to appeal through Social Security. Before I could ask any other questions, she hung up on me. Completely disrespectful. I can understand this office may be understaffed and overworked, but I am an every day citizen just trying to get my life situated.

Lisa Koski, is the beyond rude amd inconsiderate supervisor at the Janesville location. I requested to speak to her because I was told I need to mail in my driver's licence in order to get my daughter so security card. I explained I cannot do that because I need to drive around and it's illegal to drive without a driver's licence. At that point she became very sarcastic and asked if there was a question in there. I said yes there must be another solution because I cannot break the law. She began yelling at me told me, she said she was going to hang up on me. She had no interest in trying to solve the problem despite me even saying if she doesn't calm down I am going to call her supervisor. She said and I quotedo what you have to do! She is a terrible example of a supervisor! Now I'm trying to reach her boss!

We had a change of address and the woman was extremely friendly and helpful. She took care of mine and my husband's very efficiently.

The gentleman who waited on my wife and I was excellent! I wish I had his name to tell his boss! He was professional and a very good person. He handled our issues quickly, and we left soon after. It was the best response I have ever had at a government office! Thank-You.
    Paul Matejcek
This is busy place, with people struggling to get done all that needs to be done -- a typical government agency, understaffed and overworked.nOne gent who worked with us on an issue gave us advice that was complete junk. Clearly, no one ever explained to him the 'time value of money.' He did not understand why a person (me) would not begin to draw his benefit asap, and no later than FRA. I tried to explain to him that my benefit was going up 8% per year, and that the money I did not take in those early years would be paid back after 12-1/2 years of drawing at the higher benefit amount. Did I mention that I was self employed, had a very substantial income, and did not NEED the benefit. The guy really did seem to think that was stupid!

Lucked out. Went on a Friday and got there at 11. Was second person called. Lady at first window was very efficient and had us quickly checked in and told us to sit down and wait to have name called. Never got to sit down before we were called to second window to sit down and take care of my questions and sign up for S.S. Adam helped us walk through everything. At first he spoke so fast it was hard for us with hearing issues to understand. After we resolved a few confusing questions Adam slowed down for us to get everything completed. By the end of the meeting I felt like I wanted to invite him over for dinner. I was very pleased with how it all went.

Extremely helpful and pleasant. I am glad I called and got my questions answered quickly. Good to know there are professionals at the social security department.
    Calvertron
Absolute joke of an institution, unhelpful and rude, they make you feel like you were an inconvenience to them even though our taxes pay their salaries (which are too big I might add!).
    Julie Bradley
I had an appointment but still Waited 25 min. Baby started fussing. I tried to feed her cheerios. I was told no food in the building. I went outside to nurse her and took a new number when I came back because I'm sure they called while I was out. Waited longer and was finally called and told to wait again. Needed to change my child but there is no changing station so I had to change her out in the waiting room in front of everyone on hard plastic chairs. The lady at the desk was very nice (the two stars are for her) and helped us a lot. I hope I never have to go back.

This branch has the worst service I've ever seen -- especially on the phone.nnThe staff shows very negative attitudes when you want to do business with them and doesn't care about doing their job correctly.nnIf you have a problem or question, you will very likely be ignored and get the runaround if they overpay you.nnIn my case they had me down as working even though back then, I was not and said so several times. Someone here apparently had corn in their ears. Lol.

I came in to get a replacement card for my minor child and was turned away at the counter for not having him with me. I had done my research ahead of time, came with all of the documentation and and forms needed per SS website, and pointed out that I had EVERYTHING necessary to do this. He admitted that he turns away other parents for the same reason, and also admitted that the in person visit requirement was not listed on the site. So I now have to find the scheduling to make a second trip in, wasting another $20 in gas plus a significant part of whatever day off I have available, all to satisfy a requirement that isn't even listed on the SS website. If I could have given negative stars I would.

The gentleman that helped us was very nice, patient, thorough and thoughtful. A phone conversation previous to the visit went well also. (Call, make sure of what you need before you go in, right?) However, there is a woman working there with no patience, who attempts to rule from her position of pseudo power behind her little window. She has long brown hair and glasses. It's actually pretty laughable...how unpleasant she is right from the get go, having no knowledge of you or your needs. The poor thing. I assume the security guard is there to deescalate her interactions. If she calls your number...get a new number.

Service was great! Answered my questions with precision and clarity. The guy behind the desk was efficent with his time which made waiting less for everyone in the waiting area. Giving a 4 star on the count that forms were not readily viable or accessible also no pens to fill out the forms.

Got hung up on because i called at 3:50 and had to wait on hold for 7 minutes. Lisa was very rude as well..
