I did get lost at first but after finding the entrance they were very nice and helpful. If you try calling it's best to call right when they open so you don't have to wait since they don't have much people answering the phones.nnThe Southside entrance is on 48th and Oaks Street so the light in front of the 7/11 make a left then you'll see it on the left hand side. I'm sure everyone gets lost first time here so hopefully this helps!

I went with my mom and it was closed. Until we arrived we did not realize that you could only be seen by appointment only. After I called they informed me this could only be done if you had not started the process online. If you did you need to finish online. They were very polite over the phone mind.nnThe physical location looked very scary outside and on the door it said it was closed because of COVID which is understandable but the online website should update that information too. I've attached the 2 pictures of what they had posted on their doors.nnIt explained that if you had an appointment you could see the guard, but honestly walking around the building I don't even know where the guard would be if you did make an appointment. The front doors are locked. The parking is far away from the main entrance and it's a sketchy neighborhood. I had actually parked at the gas station beside their office prior to going to their parking lot and I really don't understand where the guard would be. I walked all around! ud83dude31 I saw no one.nnIf my mom went alone I would be very scared if something happened to her. Even when I was with her I was concerned when vagrants that looked high walked too close to us! I wouldn't recommend coming very late here if you decide to make an appointment. We actually went in the morning...and still had that result.

Do not bother waiting on the phone to make an appointment to come in. Even though it states on their website, on their automated system and even on here that appointments are reccomended I spent an hour on hold just to have the women refuse to let me make an appointment. Do you realize how much smoother it would be if people needed to have an appointment instead of forcing us to wait outside for hours especially considering most of don't have the time to do so during the weekday.

Seen some negative reviews, however I did not think it was bad at all. I visited the office last month to replace my SSN and all employees there were very friendly and helpful. And I am going to take my mom to apply her SSN card, I am looking forward to that!

I have been calling for the last two weeks to try and schedule an appointment because I need a SS card correction and this cannot be done online. Every single time, once the hold music stops, itu2019s dead silent for as long as youu2019re willing to say on the line. I stopped after 30 minutes. This is ridiculous. I do not feel safe mailing in my paperwork to an office that I do not even know is open since they never answer their phones.

The phone number they have posted never works. and when it does thereu2019s no answer , iu2019ve waited an hour on hold just so they can hang up and itu2019s like how do I make an in-person appointment when nobody answers the phone.

workers are extremely rude and huff and puff on the phone when you donu2019t know the answers to everything and act like weu2019re wasting their time, it takes forever to get ahold of the office i called 18 times because it would just keep ending and then i finally get connected to someone and they have a big attitude 9 times out of 10 people who are calling the ss office are people in need they really need to fix their attitudes i would love to be able to work right now but canu2019t i donu2019t understand why they chose this as a job if theyu2019re going to be so hostile and negative they get and attitude when you have a question and try to tell you all the questions are on the website where itu2019s hard to find literally anything.

Unbelievable how they treat people. Impossible to make an appointment. This is supposed to be a government building in a democrat city and state. Why do they treat us like that? Are we disposable after a voting season?

Itu2019s a big shame for a government office like this to be so inefficient. I have been trying to book an appointment for over a month but nobody answers the phone . What are we supposed to do ? Go out of state for services that should be available at home ? Close the office if you canu2019t provide services .

Absolutely ridiculous, I can hear you guys talking through the hold music! I said out loud! u201cI can hear you guys talking!u201d A womanu2019s voice comes out and says please continue to hold and starts to play the music again. I will be reporting this office.

They say theyu2019re open online, whenever Iu2019ve tried calling Iu2019m always on hold. They havenu2019t helped me whatsoever. Iu2019m really frustrated with this company, never in my life have I ever waited this long or trying to get ahold of them. This is coming from a person who is very patient too.

Customer service sucks, Iu2019ve been calling them every other day, for a week and not once has anyone picked up my phone call. It goes straight to hold, then a recorded voice says theyu2019re busy and l back another time. I need to schedule an appointment asap but it doesnu2019t look like thatu2019s going to happen.

I would give 0 stars if it was an option....what good is this place when you can't contact or even come in for help?..I'm very sick and this is what they think of the people they're supposed to serve...

The service this office provides is horrible and one of the worst. The guy helped me was rude and obnoxious. I left with very unpleasant feeling and was hoping to never deal with him or this office. The SSA should take our comments seriously and should allow us provide feed back for that person we meet with.

I've been trying to schedule an urgent appointment for 2 days now and every time I call them an automated voice says they're busy and hangs up.

I just finished up with my appointment here and I have to say that the service was great. At first, I was hesitant because I have seen some not so great reviews here. However, the guards were nice & the service was great & efficient. I highly recommend to make an appointment as it is more helpful to meet face to face. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience!

Kinda at a loss for words. I called to get more information regarding the process for a name change, and the woman I spoke to was extremely snarky, very rude and almost belittling. I literally started laughing out of disbelief. Cutting me off, u201cNo. No. I didnu2019t ask that.u201d well excuse me for not understanding what forms you were referring to, and to top it off she noticed my change in tone and ended the phone call with a very sarcastic, u201cyou have a wonderful day.u201d Isnu2019t the whole point of calling to receive assistance? I wish I snagged her name.... She has no place working on a helpline. Feeling absolutely baffled. If it helps find whoever it was that I spoke withu2014 I called in 05/07/2021 at 3:35pm.

No one truly wants to go to to the social security office, let's be honest. But, the last few times I have had to go in it has been a pretty pleasant experience. Both times were for a replacement social security card and then to change my name after getting married. The security officers are unbelievably helpful and helped direct me on applications to fill out and advised on wait times. When the wait times were exceeding 2 hours, the supervisor asked who was there to turn in applications for cards, name changes ect. A lot of us raised our hands and he took us all back, grabbed the applications, marriage licenses and IDs and he eliminated about a third of the people waiting which allowed the windows to focus on more tine consuming customers and drastically lower wait times. Very attentive and courteous people. I have to say, I don't cringe needing to go in there. Nice job!

Well the employees don't return phone calls (for months) or respond to written requests for information and you can't get in for appointments due to covid, so good luck. The public is expected to meet deadlines for paperwork etc but employees don't have to do their jobs. I've hit a permanent roadblock from the Tacoma office. I expected to wait for hours before covid shut down the office, so that was normal, but now you can't accomplish anything.

Tip: they have security like an airport so pack lightly. No liquids, no lighters, etc. Skip the belts and heavy jewelry. This place is always pretty busy so keep that in mind. Patience will be needed. Be polite and they'll be polite back to you. Make sure you use the kiosk when you arrive to get a number, unless you have a preset appointment. The security guards are actually quite nice and will even help with the check in process. I waited just under an hour today. If you don't want to wait that long, double check their website ahead of time, as there is a lot you can do electronically and you may be able to avoid coming here entirely. And don't come right before closing. Get here at least 15-30 minutes before the end of their day. The government doesn't want to pay overtime, so I'm not surprised by the other lady's review that said she was locked out at five minutes before close. These are our tax dollars at work. And just ask yourself, do you want someone coming in to your place of work five minutes before your shift ends??

I showed up at the busiest time of day for a Wednesday. I thought it would be hard to find parking but there were several spaces in the lot available. I expected a long wait so brought along reading material. The wait time was reasonable for the time of day. The security guards were nice and made getting scanned and getting my purse inspected a smooth process. Checking in was simple and I only waited behind one person. The screen for viewing who was currently being served was viewable and easy to understand which gave me an idea when it would be my turn. When it was my turn the window was easy to find. The person who served me was pleasant, knowledgeable and easy to work with. My rating is 5 star for the nice people who work there and take their job seriously.

First they have no contingency for sick outs. They lack common courtesy. To a room over fifty u201ccustomersu201d who have been waiting for at least 2 hrs the supervisor, Perry, told them that he himself wouldnu2019t wait and that if you did itu2019s on you and not the officeu2019s problem. When challenged over the under staffing he responded u201chave you worked for the governmentu201d and the clerk ( not ) helping me told me to u201c writeu201d my Congress person. These people are shameful in how they treat their clients, and they donu2019t have to listen or satisfy basic decency because they donu2019t have to, and they have law enforcement to escort you out of the office if you complain.

Typically not something anyone looks forward to. We got there first thing, there was a line of about 30 people before they even opened. Parking isnt quite enough for their workload. You may need to park on the street, not a huge deal.nnThe guards were courteous and helped organize the line ahead of opening the doors. I also noticed throughout the time waiting there that all three guards were very nice and repeatedly answered (often the very same) question over and over for different people. Even helping people with the ticket system, which tbh is pretty straight forward. So very professional and patient on their end.nnThe long wait was met by the supervisor. This guy was top-notch. He came out and explained their workload was more than normal and the wait times longer than what they like to see. Professional, calm and courteous. He tried to take upon himself the low hanging fruit. (replacement cards) Hand walking peoples paperwork to the back so they didn't have to wait. All the while being randomized and continuing to put out fires. I witnessed him also patiently answering pretty straight forward questions that people kept asking him as well.nnThe clerk we dealt with, she got a little snippy when I started trying to get clarification on what documents we needed to get my 17 yo a replacement card. We came in with her photo learners permit, turns out you need a license or state id. (which we went straight over to the DoL to get and the guy was kinda flabbergasted as he said to their dept, for id purposes, they are identical)nnWhen I explained this was already our second time there, and I was really just trying to be clear on exactly what we needed, the clerk seemed to calm down and actually respond to my questions. The logic she was giving didnt really hold water. But I realize she doesnt make the rules. So I was just trying to find out, like what 'certified' means, if I chose to go with the certified doctor note. (apparently thats just a return address stamped on to the letter) Kinda funny they'd accept that for identification, but not a photo learners permit from the DoL.nnSo 4 stars only because she was a little snippy. I'm sure she deals with people asking the same questions day in and day out. Some who are trying to game the system, etc. Other than that, yeah the wait sucks but the rest of the staff were great.

This place is what gives government agencies a bad name. They messed up my medicare application and can't seem to correct the one wrong date. I go to this office to make sure it is corrected. They're worse than the airport for security. I mean why? There's no cash to steal so it must be they treat people so badly they are worried about someone going postal. I digress. I spent 3 hours waiting in line. I had 6 people in front of me. 2 were called after 2 hours of waiting. At 3 hours I gave up and just left. What a freaking waste of time.
