Everyone that works in the sandston office is rude especially the guy! They have no clue about customer service ! They talk nasty to you and hang up in your face. That office needs to be shut down. I called to change my sons payee to his father and they told me I couldnu2019t change the payee because they couldnu2019t prove he was his father. Are you kidding me! My sons father name is on his birth certificate. I called the 1-800 number and they reassured me that I can change his payee to whomever I chose so why canu2019t the sandston location understand this! They are downright nasty!

I went here today for a name change after marriage. I had an appointment and did mobile check in upon arrival. I was seen on time, and was in and out in five minutes. I will go here for any future SSA needs. The representative that helped me was knowledgeable and got everything done quickly.

All the workers here are rude, from the security guard to agents. They have zero customer service experience. This office needs to be shut down or change all the workers here.
    Kim Davis
Nobody will answer the phone. I was on hold for 20 minutes then disconnected. I wish I had a job where it is acceptable not to answer the phone all day.

I had waited for a month for my phone conference appt. They did not call, and I was prepared and waiting 30 minutes ahead and after set time. I spent an hour+ afterwards trying to get through only to be kicked out by automated system stating all representatives are busy, please call back at a later time. After 5 attempts I finally got through to a human voice only to be put on hold, then disconnected.

Called to make an appointment. While the phone service is better at this location than the others, woman on the phone was still Rude.

If you can help it, please do not do business with this office. They hardly ever answer the phone and no one has provided me with clear information.

I have called 2 times now.....the 1st time, I got a rep on the phone, she took some of my information and then I was disconnected.......I call back a 2nd time, and I am put on hold for 15 minutes and again disconnected!

Friendly on the phone. Fast to pickup. Cant handle disability dds claims unless you live local. They can do ss cards and stuff for non local I believe. Better than the newport news service and worth the drive I hear.

Some of the staff here donu2019t know or understand what they are doing. I came for a replacement card with my wife, presented proof of residency, a letter from USCIS. (I 797 ) and the document clearly states that this letter and her expired green card should be presented to prove legal presence or employment verification. But Mrs. (HARRIS)denied the document and claimed it doesnu2019t show expiry date. But it clearly states itu2019s legal for 18 months after the day of the expiry Of the original card as proof. She wouldnu2019t let me speak to supervisor. Frustrating! Frustrating.

The place opened up at 9:00 am, I got seen, and was out by 9:15 am . The lady at the window was very friendly and took care of what I needed to get taken care of . Some things that may have helped were: 1-I was number 5 or 6 in the line because I GOT THERE EARLY; 2-I had my paper work filled out BEFORE I GOT TO THE OFFICE; and 3-I had ALL OF THE PAPER WORK needed . I took everything that I thought that I might need because I didn't want to take any chances . Also, a line starts forming outside of the building a little after 8:00am but, they don't open the doors until 9:00 am . The only thing that irritated me was this elderly white guy who kept track of who was in front of who in the line . I didn't say anything because he was elderly but, I thought to myself We're all adults and everybody is here for business . Nobody is trying to cut anybody so we don't need a wannabe line monitor .But, that doesn't have anything to do with SSA and everyone else in line was nice . So again, this is a good office . Just get there early and try to be prepared for whatever it is that you have to do .

I went on a Friday, at mid morning. The office was busy, but not unreasonably so. The security guard, and staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. I was in and out in 30 minutes. I had been to the website ahead of time, so I had the required documents and forms already in hand, which probably helped the process.

This office is very busy . People from entire south shore use this location. I found the staff very friendly and efficient. Most of your simple Social Security actions can be done on line and save the trip.

Arrived at 9:30 on a Friday. At 11;09 they had called back about 7 people. Full full waiting room. Trying calling last week to make an appointment. Held for 55 minutes. No one answered
