My boyfriend has been trying to change his social security card information for almost a year now. Empty parking lot and nobody takes the call. They don't pick up

Horribleu2026 the security guard does not let you in because apparently u2018theyu2019re working from homeu2019. When you call to make an appointment you donu2019t get any answer even though theyu2019re u2018working from homeu2019. Waited on the line nearly all 8 hours of the day for no responseu2026nnDoesnu2019t matter if theyu2019re understaffed, not our problem.nVery unprofessional, untrained, inhuman staff that would make people wait this long.nI wonder how they would feel if they had to wait this long to get things done that was essential to their financial lives.nn-5 starsu2026 what a joke. All other offices at-least answer their phones no matter how long you wait on hold. They do not.nnWhen you call the main hotline they say contact your local officeu2026nnSomething must be done by a higher official to get things in order at this point.

This office must not actually have anyone working in it, or if they do they are so poorly trained. I have called nearly every day for a couple weeks now trying to get through to someone for an appointment and have never gotten an answer. Why require an appointment for certain activities and never give someone the opportunity to make an appointment? Especially in the midst of the pandemic, the social security office should accommodate both patrons as well as their employees by making more services available online.

I went into the office expecting to be there for hours. I was greeted by a nice lady out front who took me back to a nice lady that helped me and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. They were very sweet and very professional

I have called twice this morning. After holding 15 minutes the first time the hold music stopped and there was silence. Then the call was disconnected at their end. I called a second time. Been holding 19+ minutes. Music stopped...silence. Held and held....then it rang as if transferring....then silence again. Still holding! Zero stars not an option....should be!

Came to a roadblock on an online form and tried to call this office for help. On hold for 25:45 minutes before I hung up. This is why government has a bad reputation. Who get paid to work this badly??? Only gave 1 star because you can't give negative stars.

Go to try and get a replacement SSI card. No one is in the lobby, no one ever answers the phone and you can't get any help to save your life. Covids been here for like three years. Stop using it as a excuse to be lazy.

Long hold times and only limited help available. They are all working from home and the days who answers the phones change. These people have huge case loads and a ton of training to get to where they are. Give them a bit of patience. The local number is a pain, my suggestion is call their main (federal) line and have them call you back. With a 7000 to 1 ratio they have it pretty rough already. Call the federal number. 211, Google or the phone book (people still use those?) All have that number. You can also call 800-fed-info for any and all assistance with any federal office number.

I got my name changed in July and I have yet, I December, been able to get ahold of them to get an appointment for a new social card. My only other option is to send it my physical driver's license to them, which I can not do because I need to drive.nnI find it insane that no one knows how to answer a phone.

Zero stars*nThey won't answer the phone. Then when you finally do get through you give all your information and they go silent and hang up on you. You call back and only get a busy tone. Really disgusting.

Would rate a 0 if I couldu2026 Iu2019ve been calling for almost 3 hours now to make a appointment and nobody will answer the phone. It just rings and rings and doesnu2019t have any music playing like usual when your waiting for someone to answer, itu2019s like they are intentionally ignoring me. I have stayed on the phone for 20 minutes each time Iu2019ve called and each time at the 20 minute mark I get cut off and have to call back. How are people supposed to do important legal things if nobody answers????

I got married and have spent Insane wait times trying to get ahold of someone on the phone day after day and can't get anyone to make an apt. Ridiculous at this point

Very unprofessional. National website & hotline refers us to local office. And of course, this local office doesnu2019t pick up our phone calls. They also tell us to mail the information but donu2019t give us an address where to mail (instead says to call the local office.. who of course donu2019t pick up)

My husband and I spoke on the phone in parking lot, after driving to SSA building and finding out it was appointment only service. We spoke with Francis, we believe.nnShe was professional, articulate, thorough and genuinely kind. She answered all our questions and went the extra mile in providing with the information we needed to make an informed decision down the road.nnWe could not be more impressed!! Thank you again!

Phone Service Only but calls never get through. Starting to believe there's nobody there. Leaving me with no solution to an urgent issue and no other place to fix it. This place is an absolute joke.
    Bill Goold
Long waiting time to speak to a real person. It was worth it. He gave accurate information and provided the service I needed.
    Jeff G Armentrout
Forever getting through but my representative did a quick and accurate job on my need. Very pleased.
    laura aeschbacker
HORRIBLE!!! After two weeks of trying to get thru..I'm giving up. Who is in charge? Where can a complaint be filed?
    cheryl phillips
Pathetic service. No one answers the phone, the website doesn't deliver what they say it will...can't make appointment. The Office is closed to the public unless you have an appointment, which of course you can't make because NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE....EVER!!!! And this is how they help people?
    Amanda Armadillo
Would also rate 0 stars if I could. They never answer the phone and itu2019s impossible for me to contact them on their phone system menu. They have it set up so that you can only contact them if they send you their personal extension number - which they donu2019t put in their letters. They just direct you to the call number so they can ignore you. This is the fourth time I couldnu2019t take care of my business because of this incompetent office. Fire the whole staff at this point jfc

This place used to be the easiest SS office to work with I had ever been to. Quick and helpful, like most places in Lynchburg. That was before COVID. Now all calls to the place mysteriously drop, you cannot get an appointment to save your life, and when you go there, a security guard meets you at the door, and says you need an appointment. Avoid this place if you can.

I've been trying to call for TWO days now, and still nothing! I've also been hung up on, more than once.
    Donna
Just got off the phone with Frances who is an excellent represenative for the Social Security Administration! After many earlier calls with others, and getting the run-around and incorrect information, Frances finally clearly explained what is needed. Please keep well trained , informed staff on the phones so we can effectively resolve documents needed!

I would give them zero stars if I could. I have been on the phone for thirty minutes without any answer. You tell someone to call you back and then they don't answer.
    Paige Forrester
Mailed in every single ORIGINAL document to get my named changed after I got married, just like youu2019re supposed to, got my documents back in an official envelope with no indication of acceptance or denial and never received my new card. 2 months later I call, the lady is very short with me and tells me there is no record of them ever receiving anything from me, that I need to do the whole process again and just hope they do it right that time. Come on people, just do your job, itu2019s what youu2019re getting paid for.
    Brenda Burroughs
