Seriously I took the day off got all the paperwork ready, and we get there only to be informed by a security guard that without an appointment I canu2019t submit my documents. The only other people in the entire building were the three or four workers just standing behind their desks talking to each-other. There was no mention of making appointments online. Just remember to bring your own lube when Uncle Sam decides to bend you over and have his way with you.

These people never answered the phone ever, every time I call I was place on hold by automatic phone assistance for a long time before the phone simply hang up.nThereu2019s no way to make an appointment online and no way to talk to them.nI understand, itu2019s hard time for everyone, but these people used it as an excuse to not want to pick up the phone anymore. They thrive during the hard time taking it so easy.nSo upset that my tax money is going to their payroll.nSo much for public service you are!

I had a scheduled appointment for 10:15 am. When I arrived 15 minutes early there were still 4 other parties waiting to be helped in front of me. Each had been scheduled 15 minutes apart. If it takes more than 15 minutes to help a party, then why is the office continuing to schedule appointments just 15 minutes apart? It is unprofessional and disrespectful to the public's time. The security guard was very kind and said that I'd probably be waiting hours and if he had a baby with him (my 5 month old who was with me) he would just leave. So that's what I did.

Appointments need to be made before you can do anything now, they will only allow drop-offs. I went in to change my name after getting married and they told me I had to call to schedule, you wont be able to schedule an appointment online. The wait time for me was about 40 mins before someone answered and that was during a time were they were less busy. And after all that I was told they only do name changes through mail now or drop-off so kind of frustrating.

I accompanied my sister to the SSA in South Jordan yesterday. We experienced a fairly short wait and were then helped by JONATHAN who truly went over and above to answer our questions, give my sister the information she was seeking and gave her information we didnu2019t even know she needed! JONATHAN rocks and we give him 10 stars!!

You can't go in the offices; good luck getting a replacement card for your kid. They want you to drop a birth certificate and ID that you use every day in the mail and they'll send it back to you several weeks later. As I'm typing this I'm on hold with both the national phone line and the local (South Jordan) office, for over an hour on both. Someone in the South Jordan office has picked up the phone while chatting to a coworker and hung up on me twice so far. Glad she's getting so much work done. You're not even helping people in person, the least you could do is answer the phone.

They tell you to not come in without an appointment, so Iu2019ve called every office in northern slc around 3-4 times each time, just to u201cwaitu201d for them to hang up the call even though youu2019re supposed to be waiting in line ? Itu2019s 2022, make ONLINE SCHEDULING AN OPTION if you canu2019t handle/donu2019t answer phone calls TO set an appointment. Almost every small business/even hairdressers have an option to set an appointment online through websites. Why are government agencies always the LAST to keep up with the world but expect us to go around loops just trying to talk to someone. Itu2019s ridiculous. No wonder every location has less than three stars. Cmon Utah, do better. Their procedures and systems are garbage.

I'll be heading in to grab my social security card. My last one was stolen and need new copy. I found a lost social security card in the trash at south jordan train station. I was picking up cans when I noticed. I threw it back into the trash cause thats someone else's social security card. Not safe to throw away ones social security in the trash. Kind of weird. This only stops if I'm allowed to join the church in draper on Sunday. Otherwise...

very very VERY difficult to get a hold of them, let alone make an appointment. My grandmother had been trying for almost a year to receive her retirement benefits and itu2019s been very difficult to move forward. Iu2019d rate 0 stars if I could.

We got married during COVID of June 2020. When I found out my options were not change my last name since the office was closed to walk ins or send in my original Marriage License.nI went with sending in my original Marriage License and the paper work after my honeymoon.nBy July 1st I had my Marriage License back and a letter letting me know I was officially a Crane ud83cudf8aud83cudf89ud83cudf8anThey made it so quick and simple during scary times.

Called 5 times, stayed on hold the whole time and it hangs up on me after 21-27 min. of being connected. Itu2019s one thing to need to wait, itu2019s another to have to keep calling back and spending hours doing this. Might be faster to sit outside the building and wait for someone to notice.

Nobody answers the phone EVER. No online help. No way to make an appointment. Impossible to get help. But they claim they are only taking appointments etc. I've been waiting since May to change my name. Been on hold for 30 min. They asked me to wait until Jan of this year.. now nobody to help make an appointment.i just want my name back. Its causing many issues for me.

Super friendly staff, in and out in bro little time.

I have come to expect and know that the Government is pretty bad at organization, systems, process, and overall ability to maximize and run any business - AND, this office and system takes that cake as absolutely terrible. To me, I do not mind having to jump through a few hoops and abide by therulesof a particular organization, but when the organization fails to make you aware of the requirements and makes you wait ov er 2 hours to speak with anyone... well, that is less than 1-Star in my book.nI first went to their website, thinking that I could get info or maybe an appointment or a way to expedite getting the Social Security Card for my new child. There was no way to get through the website, and the data that was there had nothing to do with my need; which I am pretty sure I am not the only parent who has ever needed to get the social security card off new baby. Then, the phone call was EVEN WORSE. After dealing with the automated system for 10+ minutes they finally say that they will connect me to an operator, with a wait time of 55 minutes. 1 hour and 20 minutes later I finally speak to a person, but they are not helpful because they are the national office and not able to help - so they direct me to the local office.nOnce at the local office and a 2 hour wait, I have my Driver's License, Passport, Birth Certificate, and Social Security Card, but I only have a Birth Certificate for my child - which, what else COULD I have??? Well, they do not accept a birth certificate, and let me know that I need a certified letter from a Doctor signifying that my child is alive and a person. Unbelievable. All that, and still nothing.... YUCK

For the love of God how in the world ud83cudf0e do these people get away with being so pathetic humans. How to make an appointment? They only do appointments but do have link to make appointments. And donu2019t answer their phone. Meanwhile the POST office is open, no appointments need at that Federal Building, SSA are providing proof why We The United States need to fire these waste of humans

The security guy was very nice and helpful, he helped me drop off the papers. however, if it wasnt for reading the reviews i wouldve been lost on how to file for a name change..i called, Someone answered, immediately put me on hold, then hung up. Ive tried a few times to call but I gave up calling.
    Andrea Horrocks
Cop at the door was immensely rude and chastised me for not having an appointment, even though through my research I found that I did not need one. He explained that because of COVID, the social security office was taking measures to keep their staff members safe, all while wearing his mask under his chin, completely uncovering his nose and mouth. No one one available to ask questions about documentation needed, the onlyserviceavailable right now is dropping your documents and application into a box and having themget back to youlater.

South Jordan SSA employees and the managers are super helpful and kind people. They really will help you as much as possible unlike other locations.

I was told to call the Social Security Office South Jordan to inquire about all my disability checks that were awarded by Judge eight months ago. For the second time after waiting to talk with an agent all day long , they answered then hung up on me twice . This is what we pay into all of our lives? Call your representative !

I had called this location asking if I was able to come in to change my name due to getting married. Their website says that I would need to mail in my current social security card, my driver's license, and my marriage certificate. Mailing in important documents like that is in no way secure. Their website also mentions that you need an appointment and so I called. The entire conversation with the representative I was talked down to and spoke to in a very condescending tone. I should have just hung up on the representative instead of tolerating being talked to that way. If you don't want people tomess it upthen make your instructions more clear on your website instead of having different information everywhere I look. Extremely unprofessional and quite rude.nn**Update. They are also not very clear on what documents you need to send in. I sent in multiple documents only to receive letters back saying that I didn't send in the correct documents. Their whole system is so flawed and ridiculous. Most of these problems could be avoided if they would just open their offices to the public.

I called to get Medicare part B started for myself and my husband. The wait time was less than 7 minutes, I spoke to Aaron who was most helpful and he agreed to mail the forms to me. I've always had positive experiences with the South Jordan SSA.
    Stormie Hobson
Very helpful and friendly! I spoke to a nice gentleman (I think his name was Ryan or Aaron?) regarding documents I needed to send in to change my name, as I've read lots of misleading things on the internet, and he answered all my questions and more. The wait to speak to a representative was only about 5 minutes. For anyone wondering, the offices are still closed to the public so you must either mail in your documents or they have a dropbox at their location you can drop them at. I was worried I would have to give them my passport, birth certificate and marriage license, but he assured me I only need to include the marriage license (make sure it is the original with the seal) and the completed SS5 form.

It's sad that these people don't care about you. As long as they have a paycheck from uncle Sam, they will hang up on you after 20 minutes of waiting or throw away your birth certificate. Smh

Super frustrating! Iu2019m simply trying to get a replacement card for my daughter and they want me to mail in my actual driveru2019s license or passport. Really?!? Even the idea of mailing my id to you is completely absurd. Come on and open already! This is ridiculous! Every other business has been open through the pandemic and theyu2019re doing fine! Put up Plexiglas, require masks & open to the public!
    Vanessa Dexter
If I could give negative reviews, I would. This is beyond frustrating...infuriating would be a better word. Trying to get replacement social security cards for my children should not be this difficult. If the offices are closed because of COVID fears, how is a person supposed to provide proofin personof identity??!! Twice now I have sent in the request for replacement cards, with the information and documents they required. Twice now, after a month of waiting each time, have they sent it back saying they needed something different as proof (even though both times I sent what they asked for)! What a joke. But, hey, what choice do you have? Federal bureaucracies care nothing about customer service.
    Rachel Paul
I called the social security office asked over the phone what was needed.. they told me, I sent in what was asked for and everything was returned saying I didnu2019t send in what was needed! I canu2019t believe that the people that work here donu2019t know what to tell you on a simple name change! Iu2019ve done this twice now and every time they are rude and donu2019t give you correct information, then they wonu2019t let you come in to actually figure it with them. This is ridiculous.

If you expect the wait time at any government agency to be less than 30 minutes, then you have unreasonable expectations.nnI was there a little past open time and there were already about 20 people ahead of me; however, my wait time was about 15-20 minutes probably because of the type of service I needed. The woman that helped me was super nice, friendly and professional.nnMake sure you fill out an application for whatever business you may be doing there before your number gets called...just fill it out even if you think you may not need one. Bring a pen because there is only one at the application desk.nnSome dude waiting to be serviced let me borrow his pen, he walked out of the office to go use the restroom and did not realize there are restrooms at the facility...FYI...

I went right at 9am when they opened. About 30 other people had the same idea (which wasnu2019t too bad. It couldu2019ve been a lot more people). I waited 50 minutes until they saw me, turned in documents for a name change on my SS card and it only took about 5 minutes (it helped that I came with my marriage license and the SS card change form already filled out ud83dudc4dud83cudffb). So I was in and out in less than an hour, not counting drive time. Also the lady who helped me was SUPER nice and friendly.nEDIT: 12/3/19 got my replacement card and they didn't change my middle name. Still happy with how quick everything went and I received the card sooner than the 2 week prediction they gave me, but now I will have to go back to fix the mistake and take more time off work...changing 5 stars to 4.

I made an appointment to apply for survivor benefits on October 6 because my 4 year old son's father passed away. I spoke with Alex nd he booked a phone appointment for me on October 14 at 3 p.m. Over 1 week later on October 14 I waited for the call for 20 minutes. I called them and asked why I didn't receive a call and they said because it is October 16 at 9:45 a.m. Not only did he not book me for the appointment that he told me, but it was 2 days later and a completely different time. The agent I got was extremely rude and was not willing to help me. He told me*uck youbefore he disconnected. The last thing I need to deal with is inconsiderate piles of garbage and that's the exact service I received calling this government run office today. PATHETIC!
