Social Security either doesn't answer the phone, or if you get in the queue, it hangs up after 50 minutes on hold. This means you can't readily get an appointment prior to visiting. Two ladies somehow had a number and tried to enter they were told the number was called 3 times to get in line. Lines of 50 wait outside the door and a dozen inside the building waiting. Waited 2 hrs in line entered got a number and waited another hour inside. The Social Security window #19 was courteous, knowledgeable, and professional and solved my issue. The only redeeming aspect of this was the security guard, he was so friendly and professional. Helping people what a great guy! Go online, to fill out as much as you can prior to your visit. If you only need a replacement card, you can do that online in most cases. Bring photo ID, a mask, water, snacks and patience. Be prepared for a long wait outside in the heat. I got to know a few people in line, they were great folks.

Worst place on earth. Long queue of our respectable old citizens were standing out side SS office in 90 degree heat. One of the lady in the queue was passed out and taken to the hospital in ambulance. Security guard at the SS office door not allowing people to use restroom. The process is smooth once you get in the building.

What an absolute nightmare. Phones go straight to dial tone. Canu2019t talk to anyone. Offices are STILL CLOSED. Having to submit official and original documents though a drop box and never be able to speak to anyone is INSANE!!!!!!!!!! Just close the whole office at this point if itu2019s this useless!!!

Depending on who you get is how your experience is. The security is awesome! Friendly yet professional. Be prepared to be there 4-5 hours. Just remember some things you can do online. Or you can call wait time is shorter 2-3 hours. Good luck

Received letter in the mail for a call at a certain time and no one called. When you call the extension on the letter and leave a message no one calls back. No one answers the phone. When you call another location they have no idea what's going on. Then when you call the main 1-800# they don't know how to help you either. One hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing. Such poor customer service.

I have been trying to call once a week, a full day's worth, for over 4 months, to this office and Angelton. I can never get thru and every 20 min I get hung up on. I have to an appointment for what I need to do and there is no way to make online appointments. I have called the National line only to be redirected back to the local level.

I have tried calling time and time again to schedule an in person appointment and no one answers. Open the doors already!! Every store around is already open, but when it comes to needing critical in person help the government doors are closed. Insanity!!!

Really good customer service.nOrganized entry, the security guard was authoritative letting everyone know acceptable behavior but not at all overbearing. He was courteous, polite, and after he sat people or escorted people inside the business he stepped back and just kept the business organized by handing out pens, clipboards, etc, to keep everything flowing smoothly. I thought he was professional in all aspects and don't believe the business would have ran as smoothly as it did if he were not there.nThe layout of the office was good with the actual meeting rooms of the business being in a hall corridor offset from the seating room area. The open window design allowed for ease of communication with the SS Staff. The staff member I met with was extremely helpful, polite, and courteous. I was greeted as soon as I sat down. All the business I was there to do was taken care of quickly. The staff member asked if I had any additional questions and let me know a timeframe that the administration would complete the work I was seeking.noverall the whole visit from start to finish exceeded my expectations.

For what it is they do a good job. And although the lobby is always full, it only takes us about a half an hour to see someone. The employees there are fair and seem to be understanding I'm various predicaments that we get in. For the wait I would tell you to pack a snack but there's no food or drink in the lobby and the security guard enforces it. Bring your cell phone, but turn it down. Good to know that no weapons of any kind are allowed and purses can be searched. The security guard runs the show there, but is kind in her enforcement. For being a bureaucratic office, they really do a good job.

This office made my experience super easy. The security guard up front was very nice, polite, and helpful when we came in. We waited about 30 mins to get a replacement card. There was a bit of an issue with the name matching up and our lady was super great in looking to correct the situation for us. She was patient and caring in the process. We are super grateful for the outcome and that the staff made an inconvenient situation an easy process.

I only had to request a replacement card and the wait was great. Waited about 30 minutes at around 2:30 pm. The number given for waiting is definitely based on what you need. There were plenty of folks that had been waiting for longer than I but I'm sure they were needing more in depth SSA needs. Replacement cards...34-45 minutes! Employees very nice and efficient. Was dreading it but was pleasantly surprised!

I recently came here to get a new social security card, and was surprised at how efficiently it ran. However, you should still expect to be there awhile if youu2019re not one of the first few people in line. Something I did not know is that although they open at 9:00 the security guard opens the doors at 8:30, so arrive before 8:30 to be early in line. The waiting room has different sections depending on what youu2019re there for which keeps things organized. The security guard was also very funny and always kept the mood light, and the other staff I interacted with were also very friendly. I arrived there shortly after 9, and probably left around 9:50. For having to do something I thought would be painful, I canu2019t imagine how this place could run any smoother.

I arrive at 3:03pm then left at 3:23pm on Thursday. I was there just to replace my Social Security Card and I already know my numbers so it made it easier for them. I was expecting to be there for hours but was extremely surprise how early I got out. I didn't have a problem with Security guards because I didn't bother made contact with them. The guy who helped me was very kind and fast.

I had a great experience here today! I got here at 8:45a, was done by 9:40a after doing both my daughter and I's social security cards. The female security guard with short hair was VERY polite and respectful, and still got the job done while doing so. She is perfect for her job! The man at window 19 was polite, courteous, knowledgeable, quick and thorough. Thanks, y'all!

Trying to call the office is a nightmare number hangs up when it rings, tried several times the phone gets answered just to hang up on you. Does posting a review even matter

This is the best Social Security office I have been to out of many. The people working at this location seem far more capable than others. However, as with most places, your overall experience will be dependent upon the person that ultimately ends up helping you - or not, as the case may be. I must compliment the lady security guard working the front. She has always been helpful and quite pleasant the many times I have been in - starting from the first. I do take the time to read the postings at the entrance though, as some might not, about bringing no drinks, no cell phone conversations inside, etc. All in all, I think these rules make the long wait more comfortable for everyone. No blaring phone conversations nor sticky chairs to be found. And, there are water fountains if you need drink while inside. They have yet to get any of my more complex issues corrected the first time, but this is to be expected at any Social Security office.

My experience was probably unique, having read the previous reviews. I went to have a name change due to marriage. I arrived and left my phone in the vehicle. It was close to noon and there were about 50 people waiting in the lobby. Checked in at the kiosk, had a question and Officer Clincy answered promptly and politely. When I sat down, she asked about my cell phone. I was prepared to wait awhile but waited less than 5 minutes. I gave the clerk my supporting documentation and he was through (window 21, sorry I didn't catch his name) in another 5 minutes.nI did due diligence to make sure I had the right paperwork, and it was pretty much the best experience ever in a government office (33 years military speaking here). Great job!

So much more organized than Iu2019d expected. Felix at window 12 made my visit painless, simple, and QUICK! In the doors at 8:45 and out of the doors by 9:06! I love how they organize it by type of service needed. It definitely helped move things along. Everyone was informative and helpful.

Canu2019t even make an appointment. Called at least 6 times and when I thought I finally got someone they hung up my line. Itu2019s ridiculous just to make an appointment, which you need to get seen. If I could give 0 stars I would.
    Virginia Perez
It is 85 degrees outside and the security officer is not letting people in the building unless there is a seat but there is enough room in the building for the people standing outside. I was asked to sit away from my son and another mother was able to go with her daughter. We waited over 2 hours!

We went to this place to apply for Medicare for my dad. When we reached the window, we were told that actually they stop taking Medicare applicants by 2:30 pm. Yet, the lovely employee answered all our question patiently. The security lady was very welcoming and professional.

They won't make any in person appointments, contrary to what the website says. They want you to mail in your original driver's license or passport plus my original copy of my marriage license, which is ridiculous to place those items in the mail and risk them being lost. Ridiculous that you can't make an appointment to do this.

I just left this office and the security guard at the front is rude, aggressive, and over exerts his authority for absolutely no reason. I witnessed him yell and talk down to at least 15 people myself included in the hour i was there. At one point i picked up my phone and placed it to my ear for literally 2 seconds to hear a voicemail that cut off. Long story short he lost it. He yelled at me from across the room to get off my phone. I politely told him I wasnu2019t talking on my phone and was trying to hear something. The guy across from me tried to tell him the same thing. He stood up and slammed his hands down and yelled u201cthatu2019s it! Everybody put your phones up. I donu2019t want to even see them. If you have a problem with it look at the board!.u201d Another guy has his earphones in and was listening to an audio book and was trying to ask why thatu2019s a problem if itu2019s not loud and disturbing anybody. He told him u201ceither take your earphones out and put your phones up or you can leave!u201d When the tv prompt came up the message read u201cplease silence your phone and pictures are not permittedu201d. So technically nobody was doing anything wrong. I find this man to be disgusting in how he talks to people. Everybody who cake in walked away with a look of disbelief after their encounter with him due to his abrasive behavior. He was on a huge power trip that was completely unnecessary. He gave the impression of u201cI can talk to people how I want because they have no choice but to deal with itu201d. There was nobody causing a scene or being disruptive. Iu2019ve never been spoken to like that in a place of business. Ever. There was no need for him to speak to us like he was speaking to children or prisoners. Even when i got called to the back i could still hear the security guard yelling at people in the front. This wouldu2019ve been a great experience had the security guard not been so rude. Because the line moved fast, it was clean, and the people in the back were nice and professional. Sad to give this office a bad grade based on a contracted employee. You should address this. I would rather wait in a longer line than to be treated like a second class citizen.

Tried calling for an appointment, no answer. Huge line out the door in person.

After reading reviews I was dreading a long horrible experience. I was greeted pleasantly and reminded to silence my phone. Even though the waiting room was almost full on arrival things moved quickly. My problem was resolved in a few minutes with no drama at all. This was so much better than posted. Read the info. Bring your documents. They are nice people!
