I've mailed off my son disability paperwork on Feb 22, 2022. It's now April 12th. Why haven't I received a update on my autistic son's case? If it were their families, I'm pretty sure they would get a quick response. Covid or not, if the place is staff, they need to do their jobs and serve the communities better as if they care about helping someone. I was told it won't take long to retrieve my son school information to determine eligibility. Some form of communication, let me know something. Seems I may have to reach out to a lawyer to speed things up.

It appears many people have had issues here, not me. From the guard who meets you at door to finishing was easy. Needed ss card for son. Web says need birth certificate so when I went there I asked the guard(promptly welcomed me and gave me instructions) if I was in right spot to get b cert and ss card. He said yes to card and no to cert. Well I left and got in truck to go to health dept when dude busts out of back door and runs me down to tell me one of ladies who overheard convo stopped what she was doing to find him and tell him I didnu2019t need birth cert(hour saved there). Then when I was called back I was helped by Mrs Roberson. Of course there is some red tape you deal with as she informed me. Then she asks if my son is available because if he could come up there is ZERO red tape. I wouldnt even be needed. He came up and she handled paperwork quite efficiently. Between the guard and Mrs Roberson I was saved trips to both health department and the dmv. Then I wouldu2019ve had to go back and do it all again at ssa office. This was the EASIEST deal Iu2019ve ever done with any government agency. 3 different people went out of their way to help me unsolicited. That is quality service. I highly recommend. Hope yu2019all have a great day. See Mrs Roberson!!!! She Rocks!!!

I've needed to update my legal name after getting married almost 2 years ago now. The SS offices all shut down in March of 2019 due to the pandemic and so I had been unable to get it done (I wasn't willing to mail in my documents.) I called this office twice, the first employee I spoke with (a woman) was rude and unhelpful, telling me I had to mail my docs in. The second employee I spoke with (unfortunately I don't recall his name) was very helpful and understanding. He made an appointment for me to come in on one of the days he'd be in the office and it took about 10-15 minutes to get it done. This has been the best experience I've ever had with any government office.

The absolute worst place to try and get anything related to Social Security done. I sent in my daughter's SSN application 7 weeks ago. It took 3 phone calls after 6 weeks to find out what the hold up was. Apparently whoever was handling the application thought there was a document missing (there wasn't,) placed the application on hold stating they attempted to contact me (they didn't,) and it just stayed that way. I was finally able to get someone who processed the application while I was on the phone with them, and they said the SSN card would be in the mail within a week. 4 days after that, I received a letter in the mail stating there was documentation missing to complete the application (there isn't. I verified that with their website, and 3 different people in this office before I mailed everything in.) I've called the office 4 times this week, and I'm always either forwarded to a voicemail that doesn't answer back, or they 'take down my info to hand to the person handling the application' and I never hear back. I've lost my patience. I'm tired of explaining my story every time I call, just to get pushed aside. This is affecting my daughter's medical coverage, and I still haven't been able to file my 2020 taxes!! What a complete joke of an office.

I recently spoke with Ms.Wolf in the Sumter, SC office. She was extremely pleasant and helpful. Went into detail about a question I had and took the time to make sure I understood. I also spoke with Ms. Johnson and she was very helpful as well. She also went above and beyond to ensure I was satisfied. Both are assets to your team at the Sumter, SC office.

THIS PLACE IS A JOKE! I sent in documents almost 4 weeks ago....zero update and when I call in, there is no record of my information being scanned into the system. I continue to get misinformation and the run around with that is going on. We entrust sending important documents in hopes things will be handled professionally and accurately. I understand that there is pandemic...however when you call in to inquire on what's going on the staff should be on the same when explaining what the delay is or an alternative process of handling time sensitive situations.

This is the worst office. I have been trying to get my kids social security cards for 3 months. I called and they say the did not receive any of the information. Saturday they sent me a letter stating my Identification was not accepted. They want me to send in my real drivers license in the mail like I don't need it I do not understand this. I don't understand why everything else can be open during this pandemic but something as an important as social security is not. Its so frustrating ud83dude1eud83dude23ud83dude21ud83dude21

we just had our baby not too long ago and we never received her social security card bc whoever administered it never put our correct address on it, resulting in us having to reapply for her card. since covid, this place is closed so ever everything is phone based but the phone services are horrible and there are only a select few who actually are helpful. weu2019re on our 3rd try on reapplying for her card but itu2019s ridiculous that we even have to apply this much.

We were waiting for an hour until it was our turn, but I must say that there were many people today. So I can't complain about the waiting time.nThe coworker who I was talking to was so nice and polite, I don't know his name, but the service excellent.

I have one person....only one person that's been working on my case now for over 5 - 6 months. Bless her heart...she has had some unexpected miss fortune's. She is the only person that can handle my case. The lobby is is full of people so I politely ask the security guards on duty at the time if he new if thi person was working. He replied he didn't know. I asked if there was any way he could find out so I didn't have to wait . I explained to him earlier that no one else could help me. He told me that I would have to wait and asked the person at the window. What a shame....

This office has selective employees that work diligently to help resolve your issues and are not willing to risk their job doing anything disingenuous. However, there is one or two that feel as if they can change accounts, document wrong information, )lie, lazy, This office just needs to reevaluate it's selective of employees.

The guy who works there is awesome did all he could do and more and the woman who worked counter D on Feb 15, 2019 around 3:00 was lazy and arrogant told me that couldn't get temp card or number for my daughter but got one for myself and my son just 30 mins before hand she is lazy no good excuse of an employee and action needs to be taken she refused the right granted to me by the government and SS office just because she wanted to be lazy I've done notified senator and Congressman of her actions and against there policy even on there website where it clearly states that a temp number can be given untill real card arrives via mail I'm coming back in on Tuesday with letters from both offices and expect proper action to be taken.

I have had the worst experience ever thanks to this office !nnI'm disabled half blind half deaf and still I have to walk from Camden to Sumter and yet they can't lift a finger to help me ud83dudc4ennI don't know if it's my last name or because I'm Black !nnThe only thing that this office has done for me , is making me walk so I can hurt my self more !nnI'm going to talk to a lawyer and I'm taking your dysfunctional office to court ud83dudc4e

Grossly understaffed. Literally no room for the disabled, elderly, or anyone to sit in the waiting room due to overcrowding. Should you get tired of standing and lean on the wall, the security guard tells you that you cannot. This place is terrible.
    Edward Butts
I was skeptical but my experience was extremely pleasant Mr.Richburg was courteous and efficient. Just have an appointment and you will have a pleasant experience like I did.
    The Truth no lies
Lack of respect for people that come in to say the least and if you do not speak English don't even try coming to this place . They have the most disrespectful public employees at this location.

The wait time is way better than the Columbia office (I waited about 30-45 minutes) and the people that work there are really nice
    Anne Bishop
Have called multiple times over the passed two weeks and no one has picked up the phone or responded to voicemails.

Better eat breakfast & lunch before you come. You'll be in there 2-4hours. Some workers in there seem very nonchalant
