I won 3 years of back pay and was told that I was in a public institution meaning prison for nearly the entire time so they took away my entire 3 years of back pay. I was not in prison the entire time. I was in prison for 11 months. But they knew that when they were figuring out how much they owed me for my back pay. They sent me paperwork that says that I was released from prison in June of last year and then I received another piece of paper that says I got out of prison June of last month. They can't even get their own paperwork straight. What it comes down to is I was owed nearly $30,000 in back pay and I was paid a little over 7,000. Now after lawyer fees I'm still owed $13,000 roughly. But, according to my representative Jennifer, they don't owe me a dime. And also according to her I have to pay back the $7,000 they already paid me. I received $2,700 5 months ago as a down payment for the back pay I was owed. So I got an apartment with it and I got the cheapest one I could. I have an 8-year-old daughter so I got a two-bedroom for $1,200 a month. So Jennifer from Social Security and the Albany office found out about this and cut my disability benefits down to 413 a month. Because I have been receiving assistance for the past 4 months from the VA in paying the difference each month that I couldn't afford to pay. Now I have to survive on 413 a month. As if living on 794 a month was even possible. So now I have to take on a roommate. I have no idea where I'm supposed to sleep. Because my daughter isn't giving up her room. I have proof that will straighten this all out but for some reason I feel that this is retaliatory. If I was in a casino I would bet every single dollar I had on it. Which thanks to Jennifer wouldn't be much.
