I went in to the Worthington office today and had a great experience. I went in to change my name to my married name. The gentleman that helped me was so kind and efficient. I told him to have a great day and that I hope everyone would be nice to him today. He said they wouldn't be.nnBe nice people!! This workers are just following protocol. They DO NOT make the rules.

After a divorce I wanted to change my name back to my maiden name. Like others, I called multiple times to make sure I had the correct documents and I didnu2019t feel like mailing originals to the office. No answer after waiting a long time never getting a chance to talk to anyone. I followed one of the reviewers recommendation and used the drop box on Monday with my SS-5 form filled out, passport and divorce decree in a small envelope. By Thursday that same week I had my passport and divorce decree mailed back to me with a letter stating my new social security card should take ~30 days. Iu2019ll provide an update with how long it truly takes when I get my new card. Wanted people to know that drop box is an option and originals were sent back within a few days.nnQuick update: took almost 2 months to get my social security card in the mail.

I went here on Friday around 3pm and anticipated I might need to wait for a long time and cannot get my social security status change done. But both the gentlemen at front door and at the window are very nice and professional. Eventually it only takes me less than 15 minutes to update my social security status. Thanks a lot!

By far the worst service ever. I called them to get an online appointment, was on call for hours no one responded. Drove to the office, they have 2 numbers on the door , one is mistyped and is not the SSA office number. The other puts you on very very long holds and then drops off, tried it many times, just useless, not a single soul answered to give me an online appointment. Finally used their dropbox and left my documents there. Be careful their dropbox opening is too small for letter size envelopes.

Iu2019ve been trying to get in touch with them by phone for a week now with no luck. There office has been closed to the public for two years now long after most other government agencies have opened back up. I finally have up on trying to get in touch by phone and drove to their office to try and see if I could talk to someone. When I got there, there was a worker there retrieving some mail. I tried explaining to him my situation but he just shrugged and told me to call or fill out an application. When I told him that I had been trying to call them for a week but that no one was picking up he shrugged and said it wasnu2019t his problem. Then he told me he would call the police if I didnu2019t leave immediately. Keep in mind I was outside their doors and not trespassing at all. The u201cworkersu201d here are leaches on tax payer money and should all be fired immediately. Thereu2019s no reason for them to be getting payed to do nothing

Honestly was terrified to go because these errands always seem like the worst but could not have been more pleasantly surprised. Kevin and Mr. White were the kindest people ever - seriously - and could not have been more helpful. The fastest trip ever and the office is so lovely inside. Mr. White shared they give back the attitude they get so anyone on here saying anything less than kind words might want to consider thatud83dude09

Not that my review is going to change anything but it will make me feel better. Iu2019ve been trying to get my name changed for a while and each time Iu2019ve run into the same issues with this place. Im hesitant to drop my entire identity off in a envelope without at least talking to someone. Iu2019ve been on hold on the phone 6+ times and for a total of at least 2 hours today trying to get some in person help and not once did I get an answer. Itu2019s the most frustrating experience. If your office is closed to in person consults then how are you so ridiculously busy to where you canu2019t answer the phoneu2026at all? HORRIBLE.

After months of waiting on my new card I go up to talk to someone because also in those months I have called every week.. never once did I talk to someone then they hang up.. when I get to talk to someone they tell me that no card has been issued and they donu2019t have my papers.. after calling for 2 more weeks I get an appointment and the giant Asian man behind his super mask and his plexiglass has the nerve to belittle me with a spelling lesson and talking to me as if I am just there to ruin his morning.. they had my paperwork they issued my card and sent it to an address that doesnu2019t even exist. And then had the nerve to blame it on me.. that I donu2019t know my address that I have lived at for 18 years.. and on top of that instead of calling me when the received my paperwork back they shredded my documents ud83dude33. Do your job donu2019t judge me as if I have anything to gain other than a piece of paper. Service is disputable

Very interesting experience I had with one of the rep who helped one of our colleague's ssn. A part of conversation made him sayWe are the governmentas indicating the power of the social security office. The whole process was nerve-wrecking and took about 30 minutes. Comparing that to another occasion where a rep made the process very smooth, it was completed in 5 minutes.

Both agent and security guard were extremely unprofessional and rude. The security guard was so busy with the sign-in kiosk screen & passing out papers, that she would've missed any real danger. The agent was very condescending and short with me. I provided documentation listed on official website but the agent told me that it was unacceptable. They either need to specify document restrictions on the website or re-train this guy! These employees seemed more concerned with asserting their power than actually helping.

I have spent days on days trying to make a appointment to get in the building with no answer.nnHours on the phone.nnI show up to the building with no cars in the parking lot and no customers in the building and they said I can't be in without a appointment what are they doing ??????? This is insane and has wasted so many hours of my life ..........

Horrible service!!! Waited on hold yesterday for an hour after repeatedly calling and being disconnected. It then sounded like someone literally picked up the call and hung up. Was on hold for 1 1/2 hours today and finally hung up after it rang and rang. No one answers !!

I read the reviews prior to calling. The purpose of my call was to get some basic info. After navigating through their phone system I finally got to the option to speak with a customer service agent. The recording then said they were all busy and to call back later. No option to hold, no option to receive a call back, and no option to leave a message. I'm sure they are busy, but there should be a customer focused system in place to help people.. They certainly lived up to my expectations after reading the reviews.

On this location I canu2019t get in contact with any one, nor by phone, or by appointment or by mail. Iu2019m trying to add part B on my Medicare. I sent application for part B form# CMS-40B since January 15th via mail and nothing has been done. Try to call them and canu2019t get through, canu2019t set up any appointment. Today Iu2019ll send again my application via fax and by mail. Iu2019m so frustrated bc my time to add Part B its sensitive, have 1 more week to enroll. Can anyone get in contact with me plz?nThanks

This is absolutely the worse customer experience our lifetime. We started applying for our Medicare B on July 1 to be effective Sept. 1. It is 8/30 and we have not yet heard a peep. we have tried nine times to call the person-in-charge of our application. He has not responded. There is absolutely no accountability. Does anyone care? minus starts....

I agree with the other comments about inability to get in touch with someone at this office via phone. However, there is a drop box option (I think Monday and Friday, but you might want to double check in person). We dropped off my documents on Friday AM and received originals back in the mail the following Wednesday. It's an unfortunate situation, but wanted to share a review for anyone else who is hesitant to mail documents but can drop them off in person. It would be helpful if they posted updated protocols, drop box hours, etc. On their website or even as a recording on the phone. It might save some people time and frustration.

I would give negative if I can! No one ever answer the call! Not only this office but all offices in Columbus! Cannot imagine people with these kind of working ethics can still keep their job! Taxpayers are paying for these lazy useless people for their incompetence work. Good luck America! With these kind of workers, USA is doomed.

Do they ever answer the phone? I have been calling all month to only get placed on hold for hours and hours at a time. After holding for hours and still didnu2019t talk nobody they will hang up the phone on you and then wanna send you a letter on what you need to talk to someone about. awful

I have been calling them at various times, and of day various days of the week FOR A MONTH. no one will answer and the call just drops at 13-14 minutes in. It sounds like someone answers the line, then waits until you just hang up. Horrible service.

They are trying their best but not able to provide good service during covid, many gov offices are operating with limited in-person customers and providing online appointment facility (Ex: Ohio BMV) to reduce the number of people being in close contact, but SSA is still doing u2018zerou2019 in-person, they suggest you to do things online through SSA website, but there are many things which we cannot do online. Getting an SSA agent on phone itself is difficult, forget about in-person appointment through phone, it is almost nill (there are again multiple layers and approvals).nnYou need to send original documents through mail and they verify and send them back using USPS regular post which is a bad idea as customers needs to trust SSA/USPS to get their originals back in time without loosing them.nnNow, recently they started an dropbox option, where you can dropoff your documents at the office entrance, initially it was Mondays only for many months, now they added Friday. And the dropbox is very small (like a small box which you normally hang near your front door), and the opening is even smaller, few people were not able to push their documents in, now the security officer at the entrance instead of helping the customers, just says u2018go back and prepare an envolope which fits the small openingu2019, this is how they are operating.

I sent out documents with my drivers license, my daughters vaccinations and her birth certificate for a social security replacement and I got my documents back within a week. It might have been the extra I paid for the express mail but regardless I think they did a great job at getting my documents back to me on time and not losing them. Very satisfied with their service!

Rude security guard tells anybody upon approaching building that they are busy and you must make an appointment yet no other cars in the parking lot. He will also tell you no same day appointments are available. If you try to call to make an appointment you will either be hung up on asrepresentatives are busyor you will be on hold indefinitely. Impossible to get anything done and worse service of all federal buildings.

First time visiting this location. I arrived about 10 minutes prior to opening and there were about 30 people in line. I waited a little under 2 hours, but in all fairness I did not have a scheduled appointment. There were 8 representatives assisting. I was amazed at the kindness and professionalism of the security guard! He treated everyone with such kindness while still upholding the policies/procedures of the office. The world needs more people like this! The representative helping me was very kind as well, and helped me with what I needed in a matter of minutes. Great job to everyone at this office for processing people through efficiently but most of all great job on excellent service!

horrible customer service. My wife came from the USA It is normal for a person to obtain the number if he asks for this through the National Visa CenternWhen we call this office they say that your name is not in our records and we will make an appointment for you and we will contact you. And every week we call them and they repeat the same thing

I called my local SS office in Worthington Ohio on Monday, 5/24 to discuss an issue. I spoke with a young man named Leon, and he was the most helpful person i've come in contact with during this entire process. I told my daughter that I spoke with a man who TRULY wanted to HELP ME and help me find what i was looking for. He not only showed me i was a priority, we got disconnected, and he called me back. He seriously helped me figure out an issue which will impact my entire life. Thank you, Leon!
