Their office has been closed to in person visits since March 17 2020. When people get upset about government employees getting payed taxpayer money to sit around and do nothing this is why. Months and in many cases years since private businesses and even other government agencies have fully reopened they remain closed. Even the DMV, an agency notorious for terrible service has reopened for in person visits. These people need to do what Ohio citizens pay them to do or find another job. Thereu2019s no reason to remain closed to the public after almost every other businesses and government agencies have reopened. This is the definition of wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars. The head of the agency needs to be removed immediately and be replaced by someone actually willing to do their job.

I had my daughter over a year ago and have been trying to get her card and paid over 100 to get it and still got nothing. Every time I try to call they never pick up to make an appointment for me to come in to get it and now that I absolutely need it I can't get ahold of no one. It's been a year and I don't have my daughter card.

They ignore people. I have called them several times. They either hang up on me or put me on hold for at least 20 to 30 minutes and then hang up on you. I have paid $35 for one Social Security card, and have been waiting on it for 3 weeks. I paid for another Social Security card last Friday which cost me $40. I think that they should give me my money back and give me my Social Security Card for free

I have spoken by phone to people at the Columbus SS Admin office on a number of occasions in the past year. When calling, of course there are long waiting times, few people call with short, easy to answer questions. But, what I can say is that every time I've spoken with someone they have been very courteous, professional, patient, and knowledgeable. I've even had to call back on the same or similar issue (due to lost notes) to get further clarification, and the same is true. Always patient and courteous. I have never encountered a rude or discourteous person. I am thankful they are available and helpful.

Surrender all who enter here.... The website says that they are open, but they are really closed (presumably to celebrate black Friday). Their hours are only from 9 to 4 Monday through Friday, and so you have to take off work to come back on Monday. You can not renew your ID because your social security card dissolved after 30 years, but you now need your social security card to renew your ID. Because you were unable to renew your ID, it is expired (by 4 days btw), you can not get your social security card... and so you are here in bureaucratic purgatory. They tell you that if you have a question, you need to call their toll free number. Under no circumstances are you to approach a window. No one is stationed to answer casual questions. They then tell you that you are not allowed to use your phone... so really you are out of luck. They then warn you against going to the bathroom or out for a smoke because you might miss your number, and if you miss your number you are out of luck. After waiting for two hours they tell you that your birth certificate is not enough... what they need for some random reason is your medical identification number. Go figure! You react to all of this rudeness with disappointment after having wasted three hours of a work day, and they tell you that you are disrupting the office and need to leave. You see that the two security guards are looming behind you because your spirit is showing. You are treated like livestock and are punished for any attempts that you might make to maintain your personal autonomy. We no longer live in a democracy. If you still believe that you are free, spend an afternoon here. God help you if you have the misfortune of being homeless or without health care. If you have no address and/or do not have this Medical Identification Number due to lack of health care access-- between here and the BMV... you are out of luck. You no longer exist.

The only way to get things done is through a supervisor. One star for the staff, 5 stars for Mrs. Hughley (sp?) She is the absolute best and is not rude like some there.

I had issues with my name on my SSN and my new company was unable to verify my details. Mr. Kim in SSN office went beyond and helped me to get the name corrected. I am very thankful to the Mr Kim for helping me out immediately.

The human connection in the place is non-existent. Extremely rude employees. Everything is deemed a race issue. I had to get an SSI lawyer just to deal with these people.
