Don't even bother calling this place. I waited on hold for over an hour just to have some RUDE WOMAN answer the phone and immediately hang up on me. Maybe she just was not trained to use the phone system and accidentally hung up. This happened 4 times the first day.nIt happened twice the second day. I do not believe anybody ACCIDENTALLY disconnected a call 6 times in 2 days.nI called the Kinston office and a very nice lady answered the phone almost immediately, answered my question and updated my account for me. There is not a zero star rating but this office deserves it.

Contacted the Call Center Number Listed trying to assist my elderly mom with obtaining her SS Card as it was burned years ago in a house fire. The lady Sylvia was so rude she talked to us both like we were trying to steal someoneu2019s identity. Itu2019s ridiculous that there is no office open for elderly to resolve these issues. I asked about survey after the call and was ignored. Just Trash Customer Service.

I had a appointment over a month ago to get a new social security card. It has still not arrived after I was told it will be delivered via mail in 7-10 business days. Every time I call, I am on hold for 30+ minutes. The u201cServiceu201d that is provided here is not ok

Apply for benefits online is only for disability. It doesn't specify until they ask if you've been out of work. Calling the ssa in new Bern doesn't work, nobody will answer the phone. It's a government agency. I assume a bloated inefficient agency fits about right

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Made an appointment in the beginning of february to get a replacement ss card and a name change. The lady made copies of my marriage certificate and told me it would be here within 7 days. Itu2019s been a month. Have called multiple times and every time, iu2019m either on hold for 45 minutes or they have no idea. The only time i got some what of an answer was when they told me it was not processed, but could not give me a reason why.

Save yourself time and DONu2019T call this office. They never answer their phones and when they do theyu2019re extremely rude and condescending. I took another revieweru2019s advice and called the kinston office. They answered right away, were extremely polite, and got me exactly what I needed right away.

Dont even bother calling, for the last 3 days Ive called 3 times a day and been put on hold for up to 45 minutes and then the call just hangs up. Why work in a place where you donu2019t do your job :/. Ive been waiting for my social security card for 2 weeks and trying to get a status and canu2019t get through to anyone.

The lady completely wasted my time! She literally told me she had to send all my stuff back because I needed my shot records signed! First she said i needed the original shot record which it was the original! Got my kids shot records from there doctors office. Then she told me I needed my old Medicaid cards. Which they switched a lot people Medicaidu2019s to a hard card. Which is a new Medicaid cards they sending out to people. I literally called first, a week ago to have everything organized so I wouldnu2019t have this issue. So everything I needed I sent. And Iu2019m happy my phone died because I had to call back and a guy helped me out with no issues. He said I didnu2019t need my kids shot records signed! And got everything done for me! Also with my new Medicaid card. If you talk to a female she obviously donu2019t know how to do her job. And she will waste your time. Please know someone else can make your time easier!

TL/DR: Dont rely on the online check in! Per the on site security knock on the door to let them know you have arrived. It may depend on what you are doing but, in my case, it took way longer to set up an appointment than the appointment itself.nnAfter several calls, being on hold for 20 and 30 minutes at the time I was finally able to make an appointment. I was sent a link to check in for my appointment. I arrived and checked in 10 minutes prior to my appointment. I waited a few minutes past my appointment time then got out of my car to peek in/jiggle the door. Security came over and asked did i have an appointment told him yes. Gave my name he says oh a little late but thats okay...ud83dude11. I said no i checked in 10 minutes ahead. He tells me they have no access to the online check in/ticket thing. So anyway...i have made it inside and it took maybe 10 minuted to complete what i needed.

This location is the worst they never helped me I do not recommend this location to anyone. I had to have my disability documents moved from this location because no one did anything for me when I really needed help. Get it together terrible service actually no service at all!

The guard and the gentlemen I spoke with were very patient and nice. I was all over the place but they worked with me and got my issue resolved.

Would leave no stars if possible. Waited over an hour and when they picked up my call they immediately disconnected. Have not been able to reach anyone at this office and have tried calling since December of 2021. Has anyone ever talked to an employee at this location??

Save yourself the time and call the Kinston office. They are wonderful to speak to and my call was answered in less than 5 minutes!

This Place is the most useless office and the people have no customer service. Not only did they not answer my questions they were awfully rude. The first time I was on the call the lady on their end hung up. Then when I finally got connected to another representative he basically told me that there was nothing he was able to do because I didnu2019t have an appointment. The website didnu2019t not clarify that appointments were necessary to receive a service and only after I drove an hour to the office I saw a sign on the doors which stated that appointments were needed. Would not recommend this office.

Geez what a waste of resources.

Completely rude and unprofessional woman (Erica Arrington) just called for an appointment that I set. First she failed to identify who she was and who she worked for while asking for the wrong person for the appointment. She then proceeded to send me to a 'supervisor' but the phone rang until it cut off. Erica Arrington is an absolute nightmare. If you get her on the phone just plan on hanging up and trying to call back because she isn't there to help.

Have been waiting since June for my social and still havenu2019t received it. They have been saying itu2019s the card department, but still wonu2019t fix the issue that is clearly between the two departments. They have supposedly sent me two card and still havenu2019t received them. Some of the workers are rude, wonu2019t listen and will just transfer me mid sentence.

This agent Ms. Suggs was so rude. She talks to you as if you're a child. I hate that, it's so unprofessional. She ask me with an attitude, how I got her number and I wasn't suppose to have her office number. How was I suppose to know? She failed to realize that she was the one who left me a voicemail on my phone with her extension number to follow up on a concern I had with my case. She never apologized for her outburst and rude behavior. Caution...Avoid her. She needs to take a interpersonal communication skills and customer service class, asap.

Some of the people make judgements about what a person understands , instead of trying to understand what a person is saying or get an understanding of.

0 stars. They do not answer the phones. Called them several times back to back and no one answered. The line will disconnect after too many rings.
    Karen Sewell
Attempted calling the Social security office. No New Bern number was listed, only an 800#. Was on hold the first time for 20 minutes. The second hold was approximately 40 minutes. The third time was 10 minutes when I left my info for a call back. The office is generally kind and considerate. Wish they were open until 5 so that the average working class citizen can come in and speak to a representative face to face.

Took Friday off from work. Easy to find. Plenty of parking. Check in was a quick. Waited 20 minutes. Restrooms were clean. The staff member I was assigned was easy to work with. Made getting my replacement card a simple process. My recommendation would be to ensure your application is complete and all supporting documents are available.

The right hand doesnu2019t talk to the left hand. Mrs. White, the Supervisor, was helpful and very pleasant, but I never got my follow up call regarding a payment. A notice was sent to an incorrect address, that I never provided them & in turn, it resulted in a suspension in payment in the account due to u201cincorrect addressu201d. When I called and spoke with Rep. #1 - I was given 1/4 of the needed information to correct a future issue. When I called and spoke with Rep.#2 - she was really professional and kind, but only gave me another 1/4 of the information I needed pertinent to my whole reason for calling & I could have gotten the issue corrected that day. Rep.#3 - He was so rude I couldnu2019t believe it. He really tried to get out of doing a very simple job and in turn got reported to his Supervisor by me. He tried to refuse to connect me to his Supervisor and even disconnected the call. I actually got him again when calling back and he placed me on hold for 10min before coming back to the line, placing me back on a 2 min hold and then connecting me to his Supervisor.nEnd result, as of today, my sons payments have been cancelled and I am playing the waiting game until they get everything cleared up on their end. Thanks SSA.

Absolutely terrible. This place serves as a prime example of a flawed government institution. I called them and asked for a new social security card. The man on the phone said I had to fill out some form, mail it in, wait for it to get processed and then wait am additional 30 days to recieve my card.nI opted to try out the federal website instead. I amdwered a couple of questions, recieved a notification email and they told me that I would have my card in 1-2 weeks.nnTo sum this up... DO NOT USE THE US SOCIAL SERCRITY OFFICE IN NEW BERN. THEY WILL SCREW YOU OVER.

Lady was very rude over the phone. Trying to replace an SS card. A simple print out turned into a week long process over the internet or mail.

They need too closed this office down cause they are no help what so ever and the wait time is crazy my thing is if they don't want too work find another job instead of wasting the public time with nonsense

I was in the line for 35 mins. And when the lady came in she she she could not hear me to unmute my phone a crock of horsedung! There are some great office people with SS. But there are some serious sorry ones too! The woman hung up on me. I'll bet she didnt have her ear piece all the way in. Then they want more money . Some deserve it but this one should be at home drawing unemployment.

If you have never been here before its slightly confusing as to what you are supposed to do. There is no one available at the desk and there are no instructions and if there were it was some where I could not see. Anyways when you walk in go to the computer screen to the left and sign in there; then you'll get your ticket. The staff member I dealt with was extremely pleasant to deal with. Good luck if you try to call its hit or miss if they will pick up; seems like there is not enough staff.
    Debbie Arnold
you have one employee that needs to leave their attitude at home. Had this lady been en employee of mine...she would no longer be employed. She is very unprofessional at her job. The little smart a@@ remarks she was making clearly showed that. She did not want to help us with what we needed all she wanted was to sit there and reject all the paper work we had. She is rude and should not be dealing with the public. After she realized we weren't going to sit there and put up with her remarks she decided to hand back the papers and tell us she was not going to help us. Now the next Lady that we were sent to...had no problems with the paper work. She did her job professionally and was kind. Why was it all wrong for one and not for the other? I'll tell you why....the first one got up on the wrong side of the bed and she clearly stated to us that the one she was serving had. SMH
