The SSA staff was so kind and professional. However there was a female security officer who was really rude. What really got me is how she talked to the elderly. Well I am elderly too but It was hard not to speak out as I heard her talk to people. Her position of control has gone to her head. I have seen this in the past. Her actions will come back to haunt her. What you put out comes back!

I want to give more if I could for representative Chris Crawford. He's the best that I've encountered thus far at the Social Security office in Lumberton NC. He went above and beyond the call of duty. He is so polite and professional. If I could have more people like him in customer service I wouldn't mind calling people. Keep up the good work and spirits Chris. You rock!!

This place either needs better operation or new management. I asked for an application to be sent in the mail so that I could get a new SS card. Itu2019s been a WHOLE WEEK! I live 5 minutes from the building. If I ask for documents to be sent it should take more than 3-5 days for them to get here. I understand that there is a pandemic but at least take people by appointments as long as they have a mask. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! Then I try to do the application online but it tells me that it canu2019t accept my first name because itu2019s hyphenated. I need these documents for work. Itu2019s now a u201cholidayu201d (Labor Day) and no one is in the office. Iu2019m very upset. Please do better.

When I walked in the office I was helped by a nice older black man. He was so welcoming and helped me with everything I needed. However, my experience was different when I called through the phone. I was greeted by white lady, sounded about mid 30s or early 40s. I told her I needed to change my address and she collected all my personal info. Then said she could not change it for me because I don't receive benefits. I waited this whole time on the line and gave away my information to be told I cannot change my address? That sounds like a waste. I told her the website did not provide the option to change it so that is why I called. She basically just shut me down and provided no help whatsoever. Do better.

When I initially signed up for SS payments a black man assisted me and was very polite and helpful!! I called today for help with accessing my online account and the woman on the phone was short, condescending and very rude...with an attitude!! I finally hung up after trying to communicate with her. Apparently she thinks that customer service does not include letting the person needing assistance to talk!! I just retired from a bank after 41 years and it was beat into our heads to be polite and courteous. You need people on the phone who can treat all people with respect!!!!

I'm hoping I do not have any problems with this office when filing...I have to have open heart surgery April 2, 2017. I don't have time for SS to push around paperwork for a lengthy time as I've heard...from the looks of the other review, I'm not feeling very hopeful

this place is horrible... it's obvious that they have no interest in helping others as their job requires... they treat people this way because they know there's nowhere else for citizens to go... if visitors were customers this place would have gone out of business... they act as if they're kings and queens to the visitors that come in as peasants it is HORRIBLE... I will contact the headquarters in baltimore MD soon as they open in the morning... people get it together...
