The people I did speak with are good.nSadly, it is disappointing that this public agency is inaccessible to the public for which it is created to serve.nThe system is beyond inefficient, not helpful, and un-necessarily criptic!nI am posting pics of the publication How to Get Help from SS. Btw, it was on the desk(inside, not outside)after I was already at my appointment that took a week to acquire. Too little too late. Hopefully this will help.

If I could give this office a zero star rating I would. Have called multiple times trying to see what I need to do to get a replacement SS card for my son so I can file my taxes and every time I have called have waited on the phone in excess of 40 minutes or more only to be hung up on and not have any of my questions answered. The tag office, courts, and DMV can be open but SSA isnu2019t? Extremely frustrating when you canu2019t even get someone to answer the phone or even your questions if by chance you get someone to answer which is a rarity. Iu2019m aware of the website but doesnu2019t answer my questions. The person I did speak to was also very rude and didnu2019t seem very educated on the process or documents I needed to mail in.

Mrs. Briley was very rude! You cannot talk to her without her over talking you! I have never been given the run around so much as I was with her! Had so many interactions with other offices in NC and this has been by far the worst! If you get her might as well hang up.

Yes I too shared the experience of the phones acting weird. I called for hours and hours, sometimes the phone would hang up sometimes it would just be busy or sometimes it just hung up after waiting a bit. But what people have to understand that phone networks have nothing to do with the actual people in the office, and a lot of the time its the phone service not working, not the members of the staff. I patiently waited and someone answered me, Mr. Opper I believe. He was so kind, so sweet, very calm, and understanding and helped me set up what I needed to do despite me being a little scared. We all just need a bit of compassion, I get frustrated too when I can't get into contact with someone, but, I was patient and got what I needed, staff is probably short, and they are doing the best they can. They do not choose if the building is open or closed its up to the SS gov. office not each local branch so don't use that as a reason not to reach out. Just reach out and have some patients. As soon as They answered 10 min later I felt relieved and happy. Just give it a chance

Absolutely awful. When you call the # you get directed to someone in any part of the state. Can never get ahold of anyone in Hickory. It's all BS. Everyone else has to go to work, get back in the office!

useless, less than useless. extremely difficult to connect with an actual person. The website is confusing and limited. We did everything we can, we did it correctly but because the SSA is making excuses and dragging their feet, everything else is on hold.nThe SSA is a forced bottleneck that we cannot avoid.nThere is no good reason for thisnthey are unexcusable

Called the 800 number made my appt. The day came and was out of there in less than 10 minutes. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. My new card will arrive in a few weeks.

I have to call the office number numerous times because I keep getting a busy signal. When I finally do get through I'm left on hold for 30-40 minutes. I get someone on the phone to gain information on how to do a name change and their information they give me is different than what is on the SSA.gov website. I think the workers need more training and to review the actual website with the correct information. The last thing I want to do is send my documentation, just to be denied. It would be nice if the office was open, but because ofCOVIDthey remained closed. Funny how the DMV, court houses, the VA and all manner of government buildings are open but the SSA office. Stop abusing the pandemic and get your doors open to the public because we're all getting tired of the abuse and neglect. DO YOUR JOB and help out the people of your community. We're all paying taxes here and deserve a fair shake on getting our stuff done. DO BETTER!

These guys are supposed to be working for the people but the wait times are extremely long just to talk to a human and when you do finally get them on the phone they just hang up on you and don't answer any of your questions. Absolute bozos

Where do I go online to make an appointment if the phone is always busy? or when no one picks up the phone?nIt is difficult for me to make an appointment during Covid and it is troubling. Please do something about this.

I would love to leave a review at the end of my call, however I cannot get anyone on the phone. I have waited for over 40 minutes on hold. I would leave a 0 star review if possible. Funny how literally everything else can be open. Courts, DMV, any place that will take your money, but because ofCOVIDnobody can answer the phone. I would assist myself online but it's not an option and I don't work for the SSA so it's basically like checking yourself out at the grocery store. Very dissatisfied tax payer.

Tried for a year to make an in person appointment for a name change to get help keep getting turned down. Every time I call to ask questions on phone I'm hung up on while on hold or given diffrent anwsers than my forms and website say. They have been absolutely zero help. Took 6 calls today to get one to successfully pickup without hanging up on me 15 or 20mins in to being on hold.

I have emailed, called, went in person, and still cannot get anyone to answer me. I am going on two years trying to reach someone and getting relatively frustrated.

I have went to this office to leave paperwork for them and they will not open their doors for anyone at all unless you have an appointment already in place, several people arrived while I called with no luck of getting a hold of a person to talk with re: leaving any possible paperwork. They tried to enter with no luck at all either. I do not see the point of having an office if you refuse to see anyone or help them.

The state of this since covid is terrible. The workers are abusing covid so they don't have to meet with people anymore! TheCrisisAppointments are discretion based and Mrs. Clark couldn't provide a single instance when it would be considered an emergency... Refusing to help anyone. LITERALLY hung up the phone on me when I asked for information or someone who could provide it.

The new building is great. Check in is much faster. The wait was shorter and the service was quick and efficient. There are 50 cubicles and more staff to help you. My last visit was the best I have ever had at the SSA Office. But make sure you know the hours of operation.

I did the online paperwork and sent everything in for a replacement card. Everyone I spoke to was rude because after 3 months I still havenu2019t received anything therefore I cannot get my license. They will not allow me to come in disregarding the fact that I have already done the online and mailing description with no result or assistance.

I called the 800 # of the SSA and they referred me to the Hickory, NC office. I called and had less than a five minute wait time. The person who answered my call was Ms. Guyette. She was awesome. So courteous and helpful! I wish all my experiences with SSA had been this good. After my call with Ms. Guyette I received a call from Ms. Johnson the same day, who did a required interview for my request. She was extremely kind, courteous and so helpful. Thank you Ms. Guyette and Ms. Johnson for being so kind and helpful and making my SSA experience a great one!!

This office is AWESOME! I went in here nervous because of all the horror stories. Had to go here twice within a week because of a mistake on my behalf, and everyone there was super nice. No wait at all, very quick both times. Both gentlemen were super kind and patient, completely understanding. Would recommend this place over and over!!!

Me and my wife got there and was the 2nd person to be interview by one of the their workers. The lady there was being disrespectful to me and my wife. I was talking English to her the whole time and she asked me if I knew how to speak English. Maybe it was because she didn't understand me or I didn't understand her. Plus, she wouldn't even let me speak on behalf of my wife. My wife doesn't know good English. Overall, she didn't do a good job and I felt disrespected. Would've given them no stars if they had it

Everyone told me to go and expect a horrible experience. So I went with my emotional armor on. We waited to see my representative. When he called me in I thought, here goes nothing!and went in! My daughter was with me so she can attest to the fact that this is all true! He sat down and asked what I was there for. I began to cry and tell him my story and what I was there for. HE WAS THE MOST COMPATIONATE MAN ON THE PLANET! I could not have asked for a nicer, more compationate, sweeter, more helpful representative than Mr. Montalvo. He was patient, kind and REALLY FUNNY which was so nice because of the place that we were! It put us at ease and made the day SO MUCH DIFFERENT than we expected it to be! We left happy! REALLY happy! I even asked him if he was going to be my representative throughout my whole case and he saidYes.I was so thankful! Thank you Social Security Administration, for hiring Mr. Montalvo, because he is such an asset to your office, to your administration. He is a wonderful person and I am thankful for him.

The workers were flooded with clients but no one was upset about the wait time, well maybe the kids were, but the adults weren't complaining. The workers got us in as quickly as possible.
