Made a 2 hr tripand took a day off from work just to change my last name on my social security card and even though I had a dozen documents apparently u can't have a copy of your divorce papers must be originals (had all the appropriate signatures and the seal)nGreeted by a very aggressive security guard - - u can hear a pin drop yet this security guard made his obnoxious, aggressive attitude known. Definitely didn't understand his threatening behavior

I gave up trying to phone Poughkeepsie after hearing wait times up to 55 minutes. A very nice lady actually answered the phone at Oneonta and in 5 minutes I had an appointment scheduled and I knew what I needed to bring. So far, so good! I live right between Oneonta and Poughkeepsie.

I had the unfortunate experience of calling the 800 phone number inthe recording. Said i would have a 45 minute wait!! While being subjected to listening to some hideous music. WAKE-UP ANSWER. CALLS WHAT THEY HAVE 1 REPRESENTATIVE WORKING TODAY??

Waited for about 15 minutes on the phone. Made a phone appointment to set up SS payments. Not bad at all for a government agency.

Every time I go there there is a 20 plus min wait. All of your business is clearly heard in the waiting room. There is no expectation of privacy what so ever! Be prepared to wait and hear many others private horror stories while being stared down by a confrontational security guard.
