The representative with whom I spoke this morning was extremely helpful, professional and patient. Miss Kitty went out of her way to explain all the details that were necessary for my husband's appointment. This is not my local office but she went a step further and booked an appointment for me at another office. I am very pleased.

Well I called because I lost my nine month old social security card. We moved from a different state. The last time I called A guy said I couldnu2019t come into to fill out an application to get a new one. On top of that his attitude was absolutely disgusting and unprofessional like he was just angry. So today I just got off the phone with another woman she was somewhat helpful but in a Condescending way. Again with attitude. I donu2019t understand people who literally have the blessing of waking up just to be nasty and rude to other people. You have a job, I pray a roof over your head. Is that not enough just to show alittle kindness and compassion especially during this pandemic where itu2019s killing people left and right? Yes I get things become overwhelming and hard at times but this is what you chose to do as a job. Just please be kind because you donu2019t know what the person in the other end of the telephone line is going through..nnUpdate: I emailed them and I made an appointment to go in. Everything went great.I was in and out and from security to office workers everybody was really nice.

I wish I can give no stars. Someone just called me from this office about my social security card and file name change request. I originally sent my original documents to the local office in Flushing and they lost my original name change petition. Now Jamaica social security office is telling me I have to go to civil court and change my name LEGALLY? my name is changed legally through USCIS..... why should I do it again? because you lost my original and are requesting again?? then the person had the audacity to say that I wasn't who I was stating I was... when he called my personal CELL PHONE.... He didn't even give me his name. Now what?.... Can I ever change my name with social security? USCIS does not even pick up their phone, I can not connect with anyone!...

First of all the office should be open by now because everywhere else is. Secondly, the wait on the phone is ridiculous. The process to get a ss replacement card is a joke. You have to send in all original documents via mail, which is very unsafe. There should be an online uploading system. The communication about the status of applications is non-existent unless you wait on customer service for hours! Please open up; this is crazy.

I called twice and was told the office was opened an dont need an appointment. Got there today and a security officer was taking the ones with appointment an put the walk ins at the side. After standing for an hour or more another security officer came out an said we hv to make an appointment an he dont know why the other officer dont just tell us that. He said there are over 200 appointments for the day and they tried the walk last wk an it didnt work. Now trying to call the office u cannot get through. Pure nonsense.

Whomever decided the pre-recorded service for the public of America to use should be fired. Reason is the system keeps you in system of press this then press that. Then tells you to press 1 or 2 to continue then press 1 to continue & then more times With hope you won't get confused as to which option. Then i waited for long pre recorded message only to be told its closed at 4pm the time was 440pm.nnThis system is supposed to support 50 million people. What happened to 9-5 in thr name if supporting 50 million people with different academic needs..nnHow about an updated system to let you know how many people are before you with estimated wait time. I have to call back tomorrow now to wait another 30 minutes to get my issue resolved. Very frustrating.....

The worst experience!!! The people who work here are so RUDE, they are so unhelpful and just shout at anyone who needs assistance. I booked the morning off work to come for an 8am appointment, the first of the day. I sat until 8.45 until they took the first appointment, the staff were just sitting around chatting. I had to return 3 times because they kept messing up my paperwork!

I made an appointment, took the day off work, paid for an uber. I went to the Jamaica office because i needed to go in person to get a new card due to a name change by marriage. They told me iu2019m all set iu2019ll get my new card in the mail in 2 weeks.nnI get the new card via mail yesterdaynand its literally a DUPLICATE OF MY SAME CARD, old name. They didnt even change my name - the entire reason i went there, the reason that Was on the FORM!! I wasted my entire day - they dont even pay attention to what theyu2019re doing. So sloppy.nnThey had one job and did not do it.

TheynDo not tell you that you MUST make an appt. The security guard directs you to a qindow with a 1800 number that when you call does NOT work. Why waste public's time. Just post it in the web site and allow us to pick an appt date and time.So not fair to the elderly and public in general. Hiw would you like to have to come all the way on mass transit and spend 20 minutes in the cold waiting for an. Appt on the street when the number is unresponsive. Terrible service

Review based on the Jamaica, NY SSA office.nI would give them no stars.nSome of these workers think that they have the authorization to hang up on you just because they can. That is totally rude and unprofessional.nYou call for answers and guidance and they tell you something you already know, over and over. I simply asked if an appointment is needed to come in to the office, so a simpleYesorNowould do. The rep answered No, because you need certain documents in order to make an appointment. WTH???nWe all know that supporting documents are needed (hence those documents needs to be submitted on the day of the appointment, not over the phone). So why can't an appointment be scheduled ahead of time? That's called planning. Do they not understand what organization and planning mean? Who wouldn't get upset with them when all they say is the same thing over and over and not hear you out.nNo common sense at all!nNot to mention, the women who I spoke to could take a few classes in English and improve her accent and learn to be more kind and courteous.nNow, would it be fair to say that the Social Security Reps/Staffs at the Jamaica office are nasty and terrible? I hope not. I believe not everyone is nasty and rude. But this lady sure was, simply by not listening to what I had to say and then she hung up on me.nShe hung up and no appointment was made. Excellent service SSA!!!! (sarcastic).nnIn addition, I think those that are answering the calls and making appointments are the ones working from home, because it sure didn't sound like they were in an office environment with all the noise you could hear in the background that didn't sound like the office.nnFYI: The Manhattan office downtown answeres their phone within 5 mins. But the Jamaica office took 27 mins to answer the phone. Tell me, after that long wait, and speaking to a nasty rep, who wouldn't be upset!!!

Just spent a long time (two times) on hold so that someone can get on the phone (two times) and mumble something, then hang up.nnIu2019m trying to make an in person appointment. They donu2019t have an online way of making an appointment (youu2019d think so, itu2019s 2022) but then this office doesnu2019t help you at all. Ridiculous!

The appointment was made but the guard said it was not on his list. He is very impatient. Is it because the government department is not worried about getting fired?

They sent me a letter that had my wifes and my social security number, our date of birth and home address and phone number, The biggest problem it came in envelope that has been opened clean cut with a piece of tape closing it .
