This place has the worst reps. As soon as I called to speak to someone the attitude and being very sarcastic comes in. I had to put this lady in her place. If you canu2019t handle a job with respect that pertains to helping others sit your behind at home. In hard times like this you would think thereu2019s still nice people around. This place deserves 0 stars for their incompetence and hanging up on people.

Have placed multiple requests in this office and it seems they may be overwhelmed and understaffed. Iu2019ve spoken to many helpful agents however it doesnu2019t reflect on their work. Everyone Iu2019ve spoke to have been super helpful and polite. BUT nothing and I mean nothing they do in office has any order to it. Iu2019ve been told many times my marriage certificate was not filed; I had to resubmit another request with another marriage certificate. Finally received back both marriage certificates but not SSA card. When I finally contacted them, someone in the office told me it was sent incorrectly to a different address. So now my SSA is out there for the taking. How sad, we canu2019t trust our government to send out documents by certified mail and or UPS!nnThird request was resent along with a letter and the correct documents for my SSA card again and was sent back with my documents completely destroyed with a letter stating I have not provided the correct documents. Does anyone in the office know what their doing? NO NO NO NO. This is total and complete BS.

I wish there was a 0 star rating for the customer service at this Freeport office, because that's what I would give them! I've interacted three times with them and all three times the women were rude! This last time the woman was DISGUSTINGLY RUDE and when I asked if there was a supervisor that I could be transferred to she said no and hung up the phone. I understand that companies may be short staff, or people may not like their jobs but they also don't know what people on the other side of the phone may be going through. And it's just so sad that people can't have a little decency about themselves to treat others better. Anyway, with all that being said... Being rude & disrespectful doesn't benefit them in the long run!

only putting one star bc i cant post with out one. I disagree with all the kind words people say about this place. I don't have the same issues with other offices. Disgusting how they are dealing with elderly people and are impatient, sarcastic and crass!!!! I wish i could recall the lady's name as she deserves to be outed for her disgusting behavior. I am an authorized person on the account bc the member has a disability and yet refused to speak to me and and upset the member. May her family never get treated with the disrespect she gives the elderly people she is PAID to HELP!!!!!

Takes a while till you get to speak with someone, but the people are very patient and thorough and will take care of your needs.

I've never had to visit or call this office. I didn't depend on my local office to claim my SSA benefits. I did it all online.

Rude employees need to be fired ASAP. If you hate your job, just quit because you're absolutely useless anyway. Stop wasting people's time.

FYI. Offices are not manned for punlicensed visits anymore. No benefit in sending guaranteed signature delivery request because it will delay delivery. One must use priority mail to send ppwk in and hope it'll process correctly.

Waited an entire month to receive my SS card only to be told that my submitted documents have been basically sitting on their desks dormant for absolutely no reason at all. Incompetence much?

First of all,, when you call SSI they keep putting you on hold and then they hang up on you or the phone will just ring and never get picked up!! I sent them a fax a week ago which they can't locate yet but they're telling me that if I can give them the fax number where I faxed from, then maybe they'll be able to locate my document.????

This is my first time contacting the SSA office for a name change only. I did this back in February as soon as the marriage license came back. It's the 3rd week in April and no response yet on the name change. I have called to find out the status, but eventually I am sitting on the phone with no sound from the other end. I am not sure if the call was even still ringing on their end. I end up sitting on a quiet line for over 30 minutes before the call is cancelled by the SSA office. I get it, they are probably very busy with other callers and issues that need time. But I should atleast be able to speak to someone rather quickly for 2 minutes for a status update. I did receive my original documents back, so I know my paperwork was scanned into their system over 2 weeks ago. And speaking of original documents, when I received mine back, I also received someone else's documents. Luckily, the SSA office was able to take care of the situation within 2 days.

I had the great pleasure of dealing with Mr. Orlando at this SSA office. He was extremely patient, helpful, knowledgeable and guided me to understand what I needed to do to apply. He is truly an asset to this office! I found out that the manager is Ms. Vercellone and hopefully this review will find its way to her desk.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Ridiculous. Social security makes an error, takes back payment with no notice, cuts off my money and 5 months later still will not fix the problem and release my payments. I call for help and Customer service is rude, useless and does not want to help. I request a supervisor on multiple occasions and am told someone will call me back and they never do.

Phones do not work! Disconnected 4 times then gave our callback # and no call back..Is this really a Federal Agency?

currently on the phone and have yet to speak to an actual person. My phone has been ringing for 15 minutes after the robots finally stopped talking. Had a phone appointment scheduled with Mr.Brit at 11AM regarding my son.. its now After 12PM and have not heard from anyone and am getting absolutely nowhere calling them. i live close to the office but KNOW its a huge waste of my entire day to go over there and ask whats going on. ALWAYS ridiculous wait time and theres nowhere to go to ask a simple question that may not require an appointment or a sit down. the people at the windows are 9/10 disgusting people. they're knowingly working with people who are mentally/physically disabled and have no regard. They will talk to and treat anyone like dirt. its so digusting how people are treated here and the incompetence is overhwelming.

I usually get very lovely workers.. However , once i got a woman who was more interested in my immigration status than helping me. I hope she is not there now.nI also wish they had seats for those who cant stand for long periods, or open the door when it's cold.nYou just have to go early!

Staff very professional and pleasant. Security guard on the other hand very arrogant and disrespectful. I was there with my mom, she has a little bit of an accent. Security guard did not let her finish a sentence and pointed to a sign in Spanish language which we do not speak. Later on that same security guard was lecturing a man who was having a small snack, saying he was the only one allowed to eat there and how heu2019s going to clean up after himself unlike the man waiting will just get up and leave the mess behind. I was in shock sitting there listening how this obnoxious man spoke to people. He was white with grayish hair. Sooo rude..made a comment that they need to make a wall by the door electric so people would want to stand there..unreal..someone should address this man. I realize that working directly with general public is at times frustrating and difficult but this man is way out of line.nOur next visit will be in Mineola office instead.

It took me FOUR HOURS to speak to a live person on the phone.nWhen they answered THEY WERE VERY RUDE!
    Hassan Shahid
As one of the comments within these reviews stated, feels more like a prison than a government building. No professionalism of any kind from the security guards to the staff, its all terrible! I had an appointment on a specific day and their systems were down and now they cannot even help me in scheduling an appointment sooner.

Unbelievably simple visit.nGreat customer service. Trick... go on a beautiful summer Friday. Empty as could be. Two people on line and I was one of them.nKnow what you're asking and the agent can usually provide the cotrect answer.nUnfortunately she could not assist me because my file is being handled in the Mineola office. But, she explained the procedure that needs to take place and exactly what to ask for when I get there. Great experience.

I finally get an appointment when you show up there is no signs and the building is locked.
    Thomas Shim
Well-organized, and surprisingly quick considering the crowds, which expectedly thin out later in the week. Tim Harris's shameful description of the clientele is unfair: There's a reason a certain element presides here, but they're trying to get by, and they shouldn't be shamed by a privileged idiot.
    Tim Harris
This place is miserable. Ive only been once, and my experience was dreadful. Im giving it 3 stars because of the short amount of time my issues were solved. I was honestly there 15 minutes total, but the atmosphere was horrid and the people who needed help were worse.

I called Freeport they didnu2019t pick so called the other number they tried calling them and they still didnu2019t pick up I been on the phone 4 3hours now

Surprisingly it was a pain-free experience but then again, I just went to get a replacement SSN card. The people are cold but efficient.

Obama phone company has a card table set up on sidewalk in front of door with 4 or 5 employees patrolling the block. You have to pass a gauntlet of these phone peddlers to get inside. Very upsetting that the office or the Freeport PD are not addressing this unsetteling, distasteful condition.
    Andrea
The worst experience ever! I got there around 12:30, now is 2:42 and I havenu2019t been called. They have only one window open. Itu2019s so unfair how they play with peoples time.
    Josh Shlomowitz
After driving hr to get here and waiting 45 minutes on line my wife's card never arrived in the mail. I tried calling the office and after a long run around they said it was processed and I'd have to come back in.
