I have no idea why the SSA staff are so rude and getting a simple service is a nightmare! OMG!!! You can get through on phone, and when you they hung up on you rudely, you cannot walk in, even when all offices have resume near normalcy services. Something needs to be done to improve services!nAnd the one in Westside in Jersey City is even worse!

Confirm you appointment over call a day before, sometimes they do not have names on list even for people with an appointment.nnAlways ask for the name of the person whom you speak on call to book an appointment, in any unfortunate case your name is not on the list, you can call up the same number again and ask to speak to that person.nnApart from the above, had a really smooth experience at he SSN Office. Spoke to some very kind and helpful people, one of them was Miss Ivy who help me book my appointment.

I live in Jersey City and couldn't schedule an appointment with the local SSA office to get the SSN receipt before my internship starts. I desperately called the SSA Newark office and successfully scheduled an appointment 2 days later, after explaining my sticky situation to the representative. When I was at the office for the appointment, I observed that the security guards (of both the building and SSA office) were very nice. I met a case manager named Jennifer and got everything all set in less than 15 minutes. I would like to thank the representative I met on the phone, the security guards and Jennifer for helping me out with the SSN application. Without them, I might not be able to have my internship started.nnP/S: If anyone in Jersey City has been waiting for SSN for too long (>21 days after receiving EAD card) even though you already applied for it via I-765, you can reach out to SSA Newark, instead of SSA Jersey City and Hoboken since there are fewer applications there.

Talked to the nicest woman over the phone today! She was clear, helpful, and understanding! Praise Jah for people that still care about human needs and difficult situations. Thank you very much!

Honestly, if I could give anything less than 1 star I would. This place is absolutely horrible. I have received a letter in the mail to come in and so I did. Once called up to the window, the lady was super rude and would not listen to what I had to say to her. She kept repeating the same thing to me and would not let me explain my situation. I had spoken to two people prior to my visit and none of them even mentioned what this lady mentioned to me. Every person kept giving me misleading information. Afterward, a man that worked there came up to her to speak with her and she put her hand up for me to stop talking so that she can discuss something with this man. She even went to the extent of telling this man to explain to us what she was saying becausewe just don't seem to understand. That was horrible service and I don't understand how someone working to assist people all day can be so rude and disrespectful as she was. If you can avoid coming to this location you definitely should.

They deserve a 10. From the moment I walked in all the officers were so pleasant and professional. The officers in the waiting area were very nice and had a great sense of humor. The agent at the window apologized for the delay and worked quickly to complete my request. Excellent customer service. Thank you.

Security on the ground floor was kind and helpful. Many people do have to remove shoes and coat while going thru metal detectors. Once on the 10th floor obtain ticket by answering a few short questions. Security guards help you with this, the darker skinned gentleman was very helpful while the lighter one was very rude and eavesdropped on conversation. He was verybig brother like. Woman in window 3 was also rude and unhelpful towards my mother who waited longer but the next week young girl in window 13 on a Friday was wonderful and so kind. Depending on your situation you are there for 30mins to 4hours and of course on how helpful the people are on that day.

This place has made me come back 3 times, giving me a hard time to get my daughters social security card. They wouldn't take her immunizations records. Nobody was willing to help. I had birth certificate and everything. Making my life so difficult with something so simple.

The woman that interviewed me was extremely unprofessional. She had a blanket was behaving as if she was at home on her couch. I'm pregnant and had to use the restroom, she took her time sipping her drink in between typing and had side conversations with co- workers that were non related to the interview. She was gossiping. She was Hispanic and was speaking Spanish to her co-workers, yet she spoke in English to my Spanish speaking mother to be spiteful. I am disabled but she seemed to have her own opinion of my diagnosis and acted as if she was giving me benefits from her bank account. They need to have someone monitor these people. They are abusing disabled people. They are unprofessional.

I was never so mistreated in my life, I enter the building and as in any federal building you need to go throught a security check, the officer received me with a very rude tone almost screaming at me, Where are you going to?after I answer Social Security Office, he proceeded with the very rude tone, seams to me that he was mad at me or trying to intimidate me, he proceed to give me instructions, I was already nervous, I'm not used to be treate like that, so I forgot to take out my shoes , and was going to pass throught the metal detector , when once again he scream what did I told you to do? I'm a petite woman he stood right in front of me, a told and big white guy looking down at me confronting me with his eyes, I was scared , finally I took off my shoes and proceed to the elevator, shaking and almost crying , a very kind men told me the floor where the office was, and once in there everything went just well , there was no line the lady that helped me was very helpful and kind, in 5 min I was out of there, so if you ever need to go in that building be ready to be strong and prepare to deal with agresive, rude people.

My experience was great! It took me 20mins from the time I entered the building, went through security, checked in on the self check, see a representative to get a ssc replacement and leave the building. Customer service was great as well.

The longest part of my visit was the checking in line other than that it went smooth. It was a good experience for me. I would recommend you go early and all should go well.
