Will only u201cworku201d through the mail. Have been trying to get replacement SSN card for my child, but it takes them 2 weeks just to send a letter saying they canu2019t do it because I u201csent the wrong documentsu201d. I sent the documents it says to send on the website. This has happened twice now. When are you going to stop hiding behind a u201cpandemicu201d and open back up? Right now all you are is a waste of taxpayer money.

I have been tying to get a garnishment done with the Omaha, Ne social security dept since November of 2020! They still can't get it right and I am being told different things every time I call. Waiting on hold for an hour or more and then it disconnects. Trying to make an appointment, but that is the same number that disconnects after someone finally answers. I don't know if they are hanging up or what. No one at the Social Security office seems to know what they are doing! My lawyer has been having the same experience with them, so it's not just me. Totally inept system!!!

I changed my name in November of 2021 and have mailed the forms you need to update my name on my SSN card on 3 separate occasions. I have been told on the last 2 occasions that the mail was never received. I came to the office and tried calling in the hopes that someone might come to the door and take the forms from my hand instead, and was told after waiting on hold for 45 minutes and being hung up on several times that a managerwould come to the door to talk to me. They never arrived. I paid extra to overnight all my paperwork for the 3rd time and the tracking number shows that it was received (but no one signed for it like I had requested) and I have 5 days to have this changed in your system or my employer says that I cant work for them anymore. Let me be very clear, if I lose my job because of the incompetence of your staff I will sue for damages of lost wages and time spent away from work making multiple trips to the post office since nothing can seem to make it from your mail room to an employee's desk.nnupdate; they finally got me my new card...but with my name misspelled. Honestly dont know how this is even possible.

My mother was adopted a few years after birth and doesnu2019t have the same surname she was born with so Iu2019m unfamiliar with it. The older woman whom I spoke to was incredibly rude because I listed the one I knew. She treated me as if I was incompetent because I didnu2019t know. I explained that my mother has been married before and she incorrectly assumed that that meant I didnu2019t know the difference between a married and maiden name (no, I just had several names running through my head and your behavior was flustering). She was Incredibly condescending for no reason. I was also hung up on the first time I called. Maybe you should have your employees complete a customer service course once in awhile if theyu2019re going to be dealing with others.

I called and was put on hold, to be honest I don't know how long because I worked while I was holding. The lady that answered was very pleasant and answered all my question efficiently. I was very pleased especially after reading all these reviews. I found most of the answers I needed on the government website,

Is only allowing for documents to be sent through the mail. I have requested a new card with my new legal married name and have provided every document I can think of that would prove my identity but have been denied 5 times stating that I have not included documents to prove my identity. So frustrating when this is the last document I need to update with my married name. Also its a waste of time to call, I have tried multiple times to ask for clarification only be stuck on hold for over an hour each time before it disconnects me.

First specialist that answered the phone was horrid. She actually hung up on me rather than respond to my concerns. When I called back and waited again, the second specialist walked me through the process and started me in the right direction, I would give her 5 stars - but rated it lower because of the initial point of contact.

The phones never work, I have waited on hold over an hour just to be disconnected, it is impossible to talk to a real person and it is so so frustrating, I even wrote a letter and asked to be contacted. Never heard from anyone. I sent in my seventh request for my daughters social security card, it got approved, I received the card in the mail, however they never sent back our documents, so now that we FINALLY have a social security card neither of us have our birth certificates or anything. I cant believe this is acceptable.

The lady I talked to. Was very rude and if you donu2019t like your job go find a different one! Never have I had anyone like that! Matter of fact take Human relations.

Dropped off paperwork at Old Mill office that was supposed to be routed to processing center. Documentation was scanned in but never forwarded to correct area. Itu2019s just been sitting in u201climbou201d which is UNACCEPTABLE!!! Do your job; this ineptness affects real people!!!!

I applied for Social Security on line. They write back and say they need a copy of my marriage license, with zero instructions on how to do that. Do you want a scanned copy that I attach to my file? A raised seal copy?nIf they don't see people in person, how do you get them the document they want? Delay, delay delay...nI drive over to their business address to let them make a copy, and they can't answer the door?nI'm not going to mail them a copy of my marriage license that cost me 40 bucks, and hope they return it to me, I mean you can't answer a door, when you are inside the building, how can you be trusted with important documents?nZero customer service skills.

Attempted to call numerous times to tell them that I was not available for a phone call at the time that THEY had scheduled for me without my input. No one answered, got a dead line every time I called the toll free number, and the person whou2019s extension I have not only never answered my phone calls, but never returned my calls after I left multiple voicemails. I finally got ahold of someone on the toll free line, and was told that the agent who handled my case was u201cso sorryu201d they never called me back, and I was told that they would either call or send me a letter to reschedule the call. They also enrolled me in medicare after I opted out of it, which resulted in money being taken out of my monthly social security payments. I am now at risk of losing my benefits. Local SSI office hasnu2019t been of any help either with similar situations. Will be leaving a one star review with them as well.

I have tried every day for over a week to get through to a real person in the Omaha SS office without success. On hold for 30 minutes and then the phone disconnects. I thought I would give it one more try and today I spoke to Kelsey. She was actually upbeat, nice, and informative!! Please hire more staff like her.nThank you, Kelsey!

Very poor service I called to see if the office was open so I can get my kids social security cards and as I was talking to the lady she hung up in my face very rude and unprofessional
    Raymond F.
Embarrassing branch of our government that sends letters threatening sick children and never returns phone calls by self imposed deadlines
    Matthew Lesch
Lady named Laura twice now refused to help me when Ive been able to get help for the past 6 months on this topic which I wont further discuss. Goes and tell me there 35 other people waiting to be helped but yet wont take 5 minutes to help me. She is not the only person to do this either. If you dont wanna help people that are first in line but other behind me. Theres a serious issue. Im done with these people. Lazy to say theast.

I spoke to Curt today on behalf of my dad, to inquire in regards of my dadu2019s benefits. Curt was very helpful and pleasant to speak to. It was a breath of fresh air that someone is very pleasant on the phone. Great work Curt!

Called a week ago andcalls are not being accepted. Call today and was navigated to hold with muzak for 15 minutes--that's cool--they said it could take that long. Then phone sounded like it was connecting. Now just 10 minutes of dead air.nNo better on the national 800 number.

I sent off an application for two new social security cards for my twins back on the 7th of June.... Today I receive something in the mail stating that they had to have some form of identification and it's original form before new card would be issued also I received someone else's paperwork along with my twins who have requested a name change.... Yikes I know right at this point I was very upset yet confused First because I was not made aware that I had to send in or mail in a formal identification card but Secondly I received someone else's social security numbers which if it was me I will be totally hysterical that a government business made such an error to send my personal information to someone! I don't understand why the social security office is not currently open so things like this does not happen. It's enough fraud going around as it is due to people being evil but on the count of a government employee being negligent with personal information makes no sense the office needs to open that way errors like this does not happen Other local businesses, government business and schools etc have reopening at this point! Why not the social security administration!

Terrible office service. I called multiple times during business hours and they pick up the phone and keep hanging up.nnIf I get to the phone menu, eventually they hang up on me. Waste of time for critical urgent paperwork.
    Jeff Faust
I have been waiting six months for them to update MYSOCIALSECURITY website so I can report my wages online. I have made 20 phone calls and filled out paperwork many times yet they still do not realize I am not working at 5 jobs at one. I have informed them where I work and given them my EIN number at least 6 times but every time I call they say they do not have it until I make them look it up and they do. I wish I was allowed to be as incompetent as they are.
    Phyllis Pfeifer
I was on hold 20 minutes, It finally rang and prompted me to leave message, but then told me it's impossible to leave message and then disconnected me.
    Peter Walkley
Arrived 15 minutes before my appointment as requested, with all the information they said to bring. Check-in is easy and the guards were friendly. They called my name right about my appointment time (wasn't wearing a watch.) The young lady was pleasant, personable and knowledgeable, walked me through everything and had me out in 15 or 20 minutes. Make an appointment, bring all the information requested in their confirmation letter, and get there a little early.
