The people were very polite and super helpful, but it ends there! I applied in July 2021. It is now February 2022 and I'm still waiting. I haven't had an income in 10 months. I have Emphysema and spinal stenosis (loss of feeling on right side). As well, I am 62 years old. I should have been approved long ago. I still haven't seen their doctors. I had to contact Congresswoman Debbie Dingells office for help. They are trying to get this expedited. The social security administration should be ashamed!

Big thanks to the friendly, helpful staff, especially at this unusual time. My local office says they are having a 4-6 weeks delay in mails, and whether the guy answering your call is patient really depends on your luck. I received my document within 3 weeks after my mail-in was received (I wouldn't consider the time too long given the circumstances) - it really helped my dire need!n10/5.

things couldn't have been any smoother. the key is be prepared, have all your documentation. the woman that helped us out was friendly and knowledgeable. write down all questions before the appointment. waited in line before they opened, and was out within a hour after opening.

The office is small; staffs are friendly and the wait time is short. But the staffs over there does n't seem to have handle cases of the new SSN applications for the international students under F1 visa. My application for the new SSN was not accepted by them even I had more than the sufficient documents required for it. I went to visit SSA office in Dearborn on same day with the same supporting documents and it was accepted without any hurdles and now I have my SSN.

After recieving a call to come in the next day I show up at 10. Sat there for an hour and as my number was 3 away from being called I get told that I would have to come back the next day because they were understaffed... I tried explaining I can't drive due to my disability and that it's hard for me to arrange a ride like I managed to do today. they told me that I would still have to find a way to come in just to give them my direct deposit information... Ridiculous
