This office recently re-opened for in-person service. My first visit today was such a pleasant experience, from the friendly greeting at the door by the two security guards to the terrific staff member (Jennifer Taylor) who was so patient and helpful with our paperwork.nnMasks are required and you sign in at the kiosk in the lobby. Even though I didn't have an appointment, I only waited a few minutes before my turn came up. Overall, a wonderful customer service experience!

The Ann Arbor Administration Office is aware that they are having phone issues however they are not doing anything about it. If you go to the office the security guard turns you away and tells you that the only way to make an appointment by phone. Even when you explain that you can't get through on the phone to make an appointment. He also stated that they will not officially reopen until the 1st or 2nd week of April! Really the rest of the state is open. FIX YOUR PHONES!

Got married in Summer of 2021, I gave birth in fall of 2021 & neither me nor my son have received our SSN CARDS after numerous attempts and multiple applications sent.nUPDATE: if your able to reach a employee set up an appointment to speak to them in person or have them reroute your cards to a residential address vs an apartment address. I was finally able to get both our SSN CARDS. Iu2019m truly grateful for the employee that assisted me.

I got married in June and still canu2019t change my last name because they want you to mail in your marriage license, you driveru2019s license, passport and a form that has your SSN on it and then they will mail it back when they are done. They said they have a drop box but you canu2019t pick up your documents when they are done. So youu2019re left without a drivers license and extremely vulnerable to identity theft. I donu2019t understand why I canu2019t make an appointment. When I called she said they donu2019t make appointments for last name changes. If the Secretary of State can open for all types of appointments why canu2019t there Social Security office be open? Itu2019s absurd.

They are doing a great job with the time and resources they have compared with the demand for their work. One issue is that the communication lines are a bit jumbled. They need communication solutions in the area of what documents are necessary for various cases and for explaining steps for resubmissions of applications.

The person who answers the phone is very rude. I am not a native english speaker and I was trying to explain why I was calling. She didn't let me finish the sentences ans spoke to me in a very rude tone. I can't believe there's someone like her answering the phone. Terible service.

I was directed to go here in person after my marriage to change my last name by vital records. Nothing says you need an appointment and they didn't tell me that either. It took me 8 calls to get ahold of someone. The lady was very helpful. It is all done through mail now. I believe vital records needs to update the directions sheet they provide and give the correct forms to do this.

Horrible experience. Applied for my social security card here in May. Still haven't received the card. Called thousands times, each representative said different things. Some are VERY rude.

I may change my rating as soon as I get contacted by a human being that understands that this is not an okay thing. I can't get my name changed, even though I was just married, because they won't do in-person appointments for name changes. So they expect me to give them my driver's license (mail it in or drop it off in their Dropbox) with the marriage license and then not expect my driver's license back for 2 to 4 weeks. How am I supposed to be driving around to my job 45 minutes away in a completely different city and also potentially working out of state without a driver's license? How does this make any sense whatsoever? And I tried to go to the Secretary of State to have my name changed and they won't let me do it until I've shown proof that I have filed officially with the social security office. I'm not allowed to give a copy of my driver's license It has to be the real driver's license. And I don't have a passport because my passport expired and I'm waiting on my new passport (which obviously, more will have the wrong name on it when it finally arrives). And the representative I talked to at the social security office said, well you just need to get a different representative at the Secretary of State because most people have already gotten their names changed by the time that they file with us. Though I was told it has to be changed with social security and then change it at the Secretary of State. So now I'm being told that I just need to find another representative as Secretary of State that will change my name. And then I can just try again once the offices are officially open for name change appointments at the social security office which may not be until November or December. I'm highly frustrated and annoyed, what is the point of the social security office even being open if it's not allowing name changes to happen? Even though supposedly they are taking appointments for other things.

When I applied my ssn, they said I would receive my card in 2 weeks. After two weeks, they told me to wait another week. Then, they said one month was normal. Just now they told me it would take 60 days. They just don't care.

What number do I call? I just need a new social security card and I know it's free for a replacement. Please help!

Idk why review is so low. I've called three or four times for help with my claims and Everytime, they have picked up the phone and given me thorough answers. Appreciate their help.

Setting up Social Security Benefits, and handled the withholding for me all in one call. When I was uncertain about the withholding, took the time to talk me through the process and answer all of my questions. Wonderful experience from an agency I had heard was difficult to work with. I highly recommend them.

Whatever this u201cSocial Security Administrationu201d is supposed to be is anyoneu2019s guess. According to Wikipedia, it is u201can independent agency of the US Federal Government.u201d However, the accuracy of this information cannot be verified with any degree of certainty, and must therefore be construed in the same manner as one would regarding any mythological subject.nI, myself, have found it to be utterly inaccessible. The experiences I have had pertaining to its role have led me to re-evaluate what I consider to be real. Furthermore, I would describe the Social Security Administration as being the type of agency which is indicative of a failed state on the verge of being declared insolvent. Given that the U.S. is now almost 29 trillion dollars in debt, I'm afraid this may be the case.nnRegretfully

I've a great experience interacting with this office. Representatives here are highly knowledgeable and they are willing to help solve issues at any cost. I would highly recommend this office to everyone!

Low responsibility. I came with fiancu00e9 visa and had only 90 days for getting social security. They told that will contact us but they didnu2019t contact us. So, my visa expired and they said it wasnu2019t their fault. And I couldnu2019t get my social security card.

I was asking a question about my last name change and they cut me off assuming what I was about to say. Then when I saidthank youthey hung up on me. Extremely rude.

Whatever female was answering the phone on Thursday, September 16, 2021, was incredibly rude. She kept talking over me, wouldn't let me finish my sentences when I was trying to ask questions to obtain basic information. When I finally asked if I could speak to someone else there, she said she was the only one there answering phone calls and had 10+ callers after me. Not my problem, I waited on hold to speak to someone just like everyone else. She then hung up on me and when I tried to call back my call wouldn't go through. Extremely rude and unprofessional behavior coming from a government entity.

Despite the fact that things are completely shut down right now this office was more than helpful. I was attempting a legal name change but was un aware that an appointment was needed. The security guard (young Latino) gave me the proper legal document needed and was more than helpful. Not to mention very friendly. He deserves a raise!!!! Thank you!

Impossible to reach someone. No one answers the phone, there is no e-mail address and you can't walk in. Terrible experience.

A woman who I was talking to was very rude. She acted as if it was a problem with me asking questions I didnu2019t know. Mind you I AM 18 YEARS OLD figuring things out on my own and her attitude is like u201cso youu2019re telling me you donu2019t know such and such?u201d, Like yeahh I know thatu2019s why Iu2019m calling. In addition to that I felt rushed off the phone because my first question wasnu2019t resolved she just said have a nice day. Tone and words mean everything.

The wait is not that bad if you look at the typical wait time chart they have posted and plan accordingly. Regardless the customer service people are friendly, courteous, and will do their best to help solve your problems. For me I was able to solve a problem in 2 visits that I had been unsuccessful in resolving after 10 previous phone calls to SS. By the way the wait time if you try to call SS is typically 2 to 3 hours and the you usually talk to someone who can't give you a straight answer on anything.

They donu2019t call back in a timely manner. They will call you from a number you canu2019t call back before they open doors or start accepting phone calls. I had a supervisor tell me to have my lawyer call them as if Iu2019m not able to conduct my own business as if my lawyer actually has power of attorney over me.

Filed for a new SS card with my license and birth certificate 6 months ago and have yet to receive any documents back. Constant refusal to investigate or replace as they claimed they would.

Been trying for weeks to make an appointment with agent Tim Dunn. He has not returned even one phone call.nMade a trip back to the office to make sure the number he gave us is correct we were told that it was left more info he asked for.nStill no call to set up an appointment. it has been two months since we began this process at this office with NO response from him.nnHe was assigned this case, so no one else will help or at least let us know what is going on. Can't help but feel ignored with no response.
