    This place is the epicenter of incompetence and everyone should be fired. I would give 0 stars if I could. Needed a new SS card after a standard name change, an experience that caused so much stress and anxiety over how my physical evidence was mishandled.nNo appointments available during Covid (although everyone else is reopened but no, the government conveniently continues to sit at home)nCalled 3 times to confirm whether they need my newly issued drivers license or my old passport with my old name. 3 different answers, took a chance eventually.nnConfirmed 2x that I would be able to pick up my evidence documents since I didnu2019t want them mailed back. Followed their instructions and added a note with my phone number asking them to call me when ready for pick up, told them u201cdo not mailu201d on the note as they told me to.nn2 weeks after I got the new card I still didnu2019t get a call to pick up my evidence. Called. Nobody knew anything. Asked for the direct number of the case worker. No voicemail set up. Calls not returned. Called a 3rd time. Was told in a very rude way that the office doesnu2019t allow pickup of evidence and that I was given wrong info about that. Was told my materials were mailed. 3 weeks later - still no mail. Called again: was told to u201ctrust the processu201d. Never got the letter they claimed was sent, but had no records of when.nnFive weeks later I get a call being told that I need to pick up my documents asap or they will be mailed.nThis place is disorganized, poorly aligned, plain lazy and a total mess. Not knowing where my passport and naturalization original were u2014 for weeks!u2014 was plain awful. Horrible customer service and processes.

I can't get in the building, I can't set up a appointment and NO ONE calls me back no matter how many times I leave a message.     I am trying to make an appointment for my pregnant wife to get her new social security number and the office is closed with a phone number attached to the door which no one ever answer, put me on hold for hours then hung up. They are stating, there will be no service without appointments and there is absolutely no option in their website to make an appointment and no one answer the phone. my wife is pregnant and sick and needs a social security number to be accepted in the hospital or to get her an insurance. How could you do this to a human being? This is absolutely unacceptable.

    If I could give zero stars I would. The fact that weu2019ve been in a pandemic for almost 2 years now, in person appointments arenu2019t possible and the Dropbox is open only one hour a day is asinine. Plenty of time to get a Dropbox on the outside that goes directly inside the building. They expect people to mail in originals of important documents and that they will mail them back . So people are just supposed to ride around without their drivers license for up to a week, maybe longer with the state of the USPS? Ridiculous! This may have been a nice workaround when the pandemic just started, but there has been plenty of time to implement a better policy that works for everyone.

    Terrible service. This scamdemic has been going on for 18 months now and they are still working remotely. I sent them my passport 8 months ago and they sent me a new social security card, but not my passport. I've called several times to ask about it and they kept telling me to wait another month. This last time that I called they told me that it must be my fault for not giving special mailing instructions or USPS's fault for losing it. The man that I spoke to on the phone got rather belligerent as soon as I mentioned that my documents had not been returned. I asked if they would repay me for it and he said no, it wasn't their problem. Then he told me that I don't have any recourse, except to sue. Where is the accountability? These people are not public servants, they should all be fired and replaced by people who can do the job.

    They will NOT answer the phone!! They made me hold. For hours!! And hungup on me!!! I been trying ti change my info for 7 months now.. Living in my car!!!! Because they cut my check!! And wont give it back.. Did all they told me to do .. Still nothing this is sad and pathetic!! How do you treat good people this way? Fire them all and get this office right!!

    I have called 7 times and every time I have been hung up on. Either open the office up or answer the phone. My car was broken into and they stole everything out of my car including my and my sons social security card the website isnu2019t user friendly and even then only one card can be requested at a time.     I have been waiting 2 month to receive my passport and SSN. I called 4 weeks after submitting the application and they said u201cgive it another month, weu2019re backed upu201d if they can not find my items who do I need to speak with? They need to buy me a new passport and send me a social. This is really unprofessional, the guy said he will have his manager call me and never called. At this point, my identity has been stolen.nnUpdate:nThey called back and said they found my passport 2 weeks ago and will mail it to me and asked me to give them my address because it u201cwasnu2019t on fileu201d but I know for a fact that it is. The same guy said he will inform his supervisor and she will contact me. No one has contact me. Everyone at this location needs to be fired because I do not feel safe with them knowing any of my information and they have not mailed me my passport or social back. This site is doing fraud.

    I have applied for my ss card multiple times and still have not ever received it. (This has been going on since before the pandemic started)and they just keep making excuses as to why I'm not receiving it. I even tried to get it Sent to the sheriffs office where I work at and still have not recieved it! They tried to say maybe it was stolen out my mail box, so I sent it to my work, nothing, then tried to have it sent to their office and nothing. Today went down to fill out the forms again as I was told to leave in a drop box, and the place is empty with a sign saying this drop box it locked inside and only able to drop paperwork in it from 3pm-4pm. This is a government office, the entire state is back open, so why are these ppl not open nor doing their jobs since before this excuse of the pandemic and their backers up! It needs to be shut down and everyone that works there fired!

    After getting no response from this office about changing my name on my SSN, I went to the Columbia office instead and they were super helpful and I got my documents back in a week and my new SSN card in two weeks. Go to the Columbia location if you can!

    We showed up and theyu2019re closed unless you have appointment. Call to get an appointment told we can do it online. Go online and it says you can only do it in office or through mail. Call back to get an appointment told itu2019s not urgent so we have to print out paper fill it out and drop in drop box outside of office and will get what we need in the mail. Go to drop off in the Dropbox 30 minutes away because it has to be the one in Gallatin and the Dropbox is inside locked and lights out. Call again and get told itu2019s only open from 9am to 10am. Ask why we werenu2019t told this in any of the 10x weu2019ve called or why itu2019s not listed and get sorry for the trouble and hung up on.

    I have been trying to schedule an appointment for a new SS number and card application but they insist on making an appointment before hand which I did and when I got to office in the appointment date the security at the door told me that I dint have an appointment and when you call trying to speak to the office manager they will not transfer you instead they will issue you another verbal appointment which they will not allow you to get into the office on the given date of application.     It's RIDICULOUS the amount of time you have to wait on hold to speak to someone. Then only to find out its another person across the state and they cant help you with what you need. I have to keep calling until I can get in contact with some at the Nashville location! Then it takes them FOREVER to process everything because they are backed up. Not our fault yall won't open back up to the public! On top of that I tried to set up an appointment to come in and the rep said he was putting me on hold on to reallymuteme then hang up. This pandemic has shown how UNPROFESSIONAL they really are.

    Similar experience to Zach B, I wanted to update or add a name to my card and they require you to send in your original documents, which I guess is okay as long as my original documents returned. However, I called several times to ensure I was providing the correct required documentation and was told something different each time. One time I called and my call went into a silent hold. I called back and my call was answered but it was as if they could not hear me, but I could hear someone talking and playing what sounded like a video game. I kept saying hello, but they did not respond. I could only hear the sounds of a game like a slot machine. So unprofessional. Is this what we as tax payers pay for?

    This office deserves zero stars. I sat on hold for 10 mins. Someone finally answered but never said hello. Someone in the background just kept repeating how he has been pulling all nighters. They finally muted me after a couple of minutes and hung up. Not sure why these people are being paid to sit and not be helpful at all. It has been over 7 months. I called the SSN office at Athens way in Nashville TN 3 weeks ago and was told the manager would call me back within 3 business day. I didnu2019t hear anything back for a week. I called back and was told another request will be submitted and a manager will call me back.nnI waited for 2 weeks. No one called me back. I called today to check on the progress, Alex answered the phone and spoke to me in a very unprofessional manner.nnI just need this issue fixed so my wife can attend college.

    I've not had particularly good experiences with Fed Gov Agency's In general but this was an exception. Moving into retirement and sorting out my Medicare options,Maryat the Nashville branch, made the process easy and was a pleasure to work with.nI am not sure how many reviews the Social Security Administration receive but they need to understand what an outstanding employee they have in their ranks.

    I was on hold for 40 minutes and then when someone finally picked up she completely ignored me. I could hear her and other employees talking about Christmas presents and what to do for the holidays while I was screaming u201cHELLOu201d into the phone. After 15 minutes of sitting there screaming trying to get her attention I finally hung up. Iu2019ve been trying to get an appointment for a month now and this is completely ridiculous. Finally I called the actual social security administration and the guy who answered was super nice, and hopefully he can help me figure something out cause this place is stupid!

    I understand they are closed right now due to the pandemic, but they did have the option of a drop box. They told me this over the phone and said I could just drop it in the drop box. I thought this would be like something in the side of the building like a bank or the postal service. Nope.. They did not inform me that it was an inside drop box that can only be accessed between 3pm and 4pm. I drove all the way across town just to see a sign that said that.

    We came here Monday to drop off a set of documents to get a name changed. The person we came here for had called them multiple times and they didnu2019t answer or just answered and just said what we needed to do and just hung up. They have the worst customer service. If you need to drop something off please come at 2:45pm. (3pm-4pm) We came back today, Tuesday, and turned the documents into the drop box. It was open.

    When calling close to 4 they'll answer the phone and pretend they can't hear you! Just heard someone talking but not acknowledging me. No idea how a government office can be run so poorly. This has been going on for 6 months! COVID or no COVID McDonald's has been running for efficiently during the pandemic than this place. Not only is their phone support absolutely deplorable, but they've made EXTREME human errors severely impacting my families finances over sloppy data entry on THEIR part. Then to fix them they want you to submit form after form after form although its clearly someone with poor work ethics making unreasonable calculation errors. Glad my phone has screen/audio recording because I have about 20 examples of this happening and I'm going to send it to the office of the inspector general and my local congressman, this is a joke!

    When someone finally answered she was talking to someone in the background and ignoring me the whole time. She NEVER said anything to me as I said hello several times and LET HER KNOW that I could hear her. She was clearly trying to get me to hang up so she could move on and do this to the next caller. Oh, it gets better... Her personal phone rang and she began having a personal conversation on the phone. Her phone was on speaker so I could LITERALLY hear them talking back and forth about someoneu2019s prostate and other OFF THE CLOCK business and she NEVER tended to me. I recorded part of this outrageous experience. GHETTO AND DISRESPECTFUL SERVICE.

    After reading all the reviews, I was not looking forward to going to this office. I was prepared to be there for hours and have a very unpleasant experience. Knowing this - I took a big book and decided to go on a Wednesday around 10:30/11:00, since they close at 12 - hoping that that would mean they would have to get me in and out within the hour/hour and half. Boy was I surprised! I was in and out in literally 10 minutes. Granted - I only needed a replacement card, and they call you based on your needs. But still. I was never even able to open my book. I checked in at the kiosk, went and took a seat, immediately heard my number, proceeded to the window, spoke with a very nice lady who took care of my needs, and left. Easy peasy. Overall, while mine may have been a rare experience, it was a great one! And I feel it's important to share, not only negative experiences, but positive ones as well in order to get an accurate rating. Cheers!

Once we tried to make an appointment they wouldnu2019t even give us one because apparently you donu2019t have to go in for a last name change. Not at all stated on their website.nnOne of the worst offices Iu2019ve ever been to.
