Horrible. The experience I had with this location was the worst. Bad customer service, the phone lines are always busy and when they do ring they randomly disconnect. I called for weeks trying to reach someone, and when they do answer they are rude and hang up on you. I trusted the system and mailed sensitive documents via certified mail to this office per the application instructions. They lost my sensitive documents! Even with my proof of delivery they still claimed to not have them. Tax payer beware!

My husband made an appointment in Jan to talk to someone. Appointment was set for early March. Guard at the door insisted we were there for a drop off and wouldn't let us talk to anyone--so we dropped off the documents. Called back the office to confirm and were told we should not have dropped off the documents. Then she kept changing her story of how the process was supposed to work. My husband doesn't speak English well so sometimes he would ask me to translate what he wanted to say. The lady on the phone hated that and kept insulting me-- probably since I speak English and won't be fooled by her changing her answer every five minutes. When we asked for her name she hung up on us. Called back and got someone else who said yes we should've dropped off the documents. Went to the guard again and he basically admitted they made a mistake but now the only option was to leave the documents or wait another month for another appointment. In the middle of tax season. When you most need to have an SSN number.nnThe only thing smaller than their mental capacity is the probability that they will succeed in life.

You have to call early in the morning to try to reach someone. I had to call 3-4 times before reaching anyone. The first 3 calls were dropped with no warning. I was helping a lady setup an appointment. The REP did her best to help however what frustrates me is that they were not able to give us an appointment. Instead they would mail out a letter with a date/time and if WE dont get anything after two weeks we should call back. A Crime. My friend had a language barrier but did the best she could. Before REP wanted to leave I wanted to confirm the address. Turns out it was not correct because we could not understand my friend. All you had to do was confirm the address before getting off the line, especially if you are mailing something out to them.nRockville SS has been a joke. Using Covid to do less. They cut calls, schedule appointments in advance up to 3-6 weeks later, and who ever is the manager of this location should have to answer to all these bad reviews or fired. Bring someone else who has vision and leadership. This is not an isolated issue. Look at all the reviews in the last couple of months/years.nLord help those who urgently need assistance.

Horrible, horrible experience. I called innumerous times, put on hold for the call to drop after long waiting periods. Called again yesterday, on hold for 2 hours finally someone picked up, what a terrible experience. I didn't get the answer to my question, the woman on the other side was yelling at me and telling me to be quite and not interrupt her, then she started speaking Spanish only because of my name I told her to speak English because even though I speak Spanish, it is not my native language. I work in Customer service and let me tell you , this is unacceptable if they don't like what they do they should seek a different job and give the opportunity to someone else that really can do the work and respect the callers that need the help. Social security office needs to do some cleaning with the people they have working there.

I cannot wait till I don't have anything further to do with these people. They all give different information and can often be rude/short. It's been awful working with them! They really need to improve their customer service!nnUPDATE: They completely lost all of my sensitive documents and aren't at all apologetic. I really wish I had no business with these irresponsible people!

When call main phone for SSA the line just drop every time.nIu2019ve came to the office to schedule that fu2026 appointment for the name change and the security didnu2019t let me in lol. So challenging trying to get my documents back and have someone tell me why they cannot find mail sent via certified mail that was delivered January 6th. Now January 25, still no card, no documents returned and no one in the Rockville office that can answer my questions. This seems to be the standard and for some reason acceptable ud83eudd14

Literally the same experience as everyone else below, and anyone who has said they have had a good experience with them is a liar and a paid off reviewer.nnI have been calling them for 2 weeks straight for an appointment but no one ever picks up and eventually just hangs up automatically.nnThen, due to COVID19 itu2019s visiting via appointment only but you have to call to make an appointment.nnFinally gave up and decided to go see them in person but the police officer was an African American that was so extremely rude and despite informing him that I was not able to get an appointment via phone because no one picks up he just kept saying to keep callingnnHaving access to social security is my RIGHT not my privilege. It is my and everyone else in this place who left a bad reviews whose tax dollars that help pay every single employee working in this Rockville MD office.nnAbsolutely frustrated, and this is just ridiculous.

My appointment was quick and fast. Staffs are friendly and responsive. I recommend to book an appointment before visit. I arrived 30 mins before my appointment. I had to wait for only 5 mins outside and staffs let me in. All my work done in 15 mins.

If I could give them zero stars I would, that is how terrible this Rockville Social Security office has been for me. I have been trying to get a SS#/Card for our newborn and they have made it impossible. I called, confirmed what I needed to bring to the appointment. I brought more than I was instructed to bring, yet the agent at the desk arbitrarily decided that I needed something else and wouldn't process my child's application. It feels like they move the goal posts on a whim based on whatever clerk is at the desk. I obtained this extra document and tried to reschedule but the woman that answered the phone was rude and transferred me to what I assume was a supervisor. The supervisor's phone went straight to voicemail with a message saying she was out of the office until October 18th (the call was made on December 17th). Come on...how could it be this hard? This isn't my first time doing this...just my first time doing it at the Rockville location. People shouldn't have to contact their congressperson to get help doing something so routine.

Horrible customer service the people behind the window make it experience almost to impossible to write a good review they are so rude. And already ready make a judgment about your situation. I was there to get a replacement card for my son and the guy was so rude he had a awful attitude. Unfortunately thatu2019s the o my location near me so I have to come back.

The online services are poor and don't work for certain groups of people, and nobody in this office takes responsibility for anything. The fact that they haven't opened up their office to walk-ins is either lazy, careless or apathetic (or maybe combination of all) to the needs of the people they should be serving. Why do you work here if you don't want to do the job or help people who need your services? It's a shame.

I called social security office to find out my SSDI situation, FYI Iu2019m deaf so this guy just got on phone saying reason why Iu2019m not getting money because Iu2019m still working, I asked him to see if he can look my information in their system, he snapped at me saying I need to fax the form to that place from work, I was like I wasnu2019t working ever since June then I explained my situation, he just cut me off transfer me to someone else but he knew this person wasnu2019t there! Customer service sucks and surprised it still there

Very very rude over the phone..if I could give them zero star's I would have.... I was calling to ask a simple question and it seems like who ever picked up the phone have a problem with the world... the First thing she asked for was my social security number as soon as she answered the phone and I let her know no need for that Cox all I was calling for was a question but she insisted I provide that which didn't make any sense to me.... When I insisted I was calling for a simple question she cut me off and asked for my zip code and when I provided it she got silent on the phone...then I saidhello are you still therethen she answered in a very very rude tone and said I should call my social security office in my zip code and just hang up.....How rude and unprofessional she was.... I think the social security offices needs to have a survey right after every phone calls for everyone to at least have an opportunity to leave a comment for all these rude customer service representatives to be held accountable for their actions......This is no way to treat people over the phone

The lady with the accent is HORRIBLE!! She was very rude! The guy I spoke to seemed like he was more stressed than me!! These people at this office are useless and disrespectful.

As soon as he picked up the phone he had a attitude and with me. His tone of voice was very aggressive not friendly at all. Not only that it triggered him everytime I ask question for which I wasnu2019t sure off.
    Lucia Mettler
Impossible to get hold of. The Q&A tells you to call them: both the local phone number and the general phone number always have a busy signal, and then hang up on the caller within a minute. Meanwhile the office is closed due to covid. What are we supposed to do?
    Errol G.
Dog receive a better treatmeant than i did, I was just standing there like forever... I decided to put my documents in a drop box I seen in the office its been over 3 months and no response from their office.
    Mohammad Wahidi
A very unpleasant experience. The office works via phone only and the phone service is very poor. When you call the office, there are no clear instructions and consistent information. Each representative gives different information. Additionally, the online service is completely useless. Aside from your name, you will not find any helpful information. Also, if youu2019re looking for a form, you are more likely to find it on a random blog over the internet. Be careful, if they ask you to submit your forms with the original document via mail or drop off, thereu2019s a big chance that it will be lost.
    Noryn the Great
I called them and was told that I can't make an appointment. Even though this is the closest office to me physically, the representative told me that I need to call an office at a different location and hung up on me. Terrible service.
    Luiggina Rosati
They have a terrible customer service. from the call center to the guard who receives you at the office, he closes the door in my face while I spoke to him. incredibly pessimistic! They cut the call and rude. They have no education, they have no tact to talk to people!
    Donna Gironda
It took over three months to get my application approved for Medicare with weekly calls never returned. After an appointment to supply needed documents, I was told I should receive letter within 10 days. That finally happened 2 months later. Staff do not seem interested in serving the public. I was told their were several complaints about the gentleman who helped me for my appointment from another staff member. Good luck with this office. I realize some are working at home due to Covid, but their service was stressful and unacceptable.
    Jason Chan
I would give them negative 100 if I could. Worst of the worst customer service ever! Treat people like animals with zero patience. All of them has attitude.

Rude staff, Never answer the phone to make a appointment and when I go they rudely tell you to call the number on the website when it doesnu2019t ever get answered
    White Chihuahua
I am a new citizen and was calling to change my status to citizen because I need it for something urgent. I have tried calling them more than 10 times but I canu2019t even talk to a representative. The system just hangs up immediately and says u201cour representatives are busy.u201d I need an appointment as quickly as possible. This is awful service.
    Raquel Urbina
Worse customer service EVER!! Everyone is so rude, have an attitude and are so incompetent. Even the Spanish speaker staff. Too bad this is the closest place to us. We have to deal with disrespectful people every time we go there.
    Marti Crosby
Very pleasant - patient man helped me with my questions. We had a fun time talking. All questions answered, plue some :- )
    Khurram Sheharyar
Appointment was fairly easy to make online. The staff were very supportive. If you love in Maryland county, this is the office you should be visiting to apply for a SSN.
    Pleasant Prickles
After three hours of waiting for the office to answer calls at all, I reached a man who should never be in a customer service position.. He was extremely rude, unhelpful, accusatory and condescending. I was just assisting a new citizen in setting up an in person appointment and was scolded badly. Miserable experience. ZERO STARS.

It might be challenging to make an appointment and the person taking your call is not polite. But the person at the office was so kind and ready to take all my questions. Thank you for your work.
