Appointments can only be made by phone, but will not answer the phone. Not only that, if you are on hold long enough, they will just hang up on you! This happened to me 5 different time over the course of 4 hours, before calling a different office and asking if I could deal with them instead.nnThe other office was great. The National call-line took a while, but was also helpful.nnThis location needs new people.

Went in on a Monday without an appointment. Explained my situation to security and a gentleman of SSA. Got a replacement card/ number issued within 5 minutes. Overall, the service was super friendly and. Ery efficient ud83dudc4d

This office seems to be full of people unable to properly assist people with disabilities. I'd ask one question he would say something from left field that made no sense.nnIf they denied me, than a lawyer and a judge agree I deserve it, doesn't that say they have no clue what they are doing?nnAfter getting both a judge and a lawyer to award it to me. I was told to have a payee for a year, I'm 35. 4+ years later, I still have a payee who can't do her job. Took 3 years just to find out what I was earning each month. which was much less then the budget social security approved they really don't know what they are doing and makes it difficult for those on social security who obviously have issues to get the services they need in a timely manner

They have had my claim for over 4 months -- talked to several people, over 5 hours weekly on wait time on phone (use two phones) repeatedly informed your claim will be submitted on Monday, check by Friday to no avail. Writing letter to State Senator and Representative to see if anyone can help. Was last toldYou are crossing the line by threatening to complain to other people and this may delay your claim. No threat just talking with supervisor. Rude, Rude people.

The reps have no control over this RIDICULOUS system. It's truly amazing how government agencies can't seem to have enough staff to do things well. If this was a business, it would have gone broke fast due to the poor service. EXTREMELY terrible communications.

I have called the office numerous times only to be put on hold for several hours. I've tried to apply online only to get a notification that they would send me a letter with a code. By the time I get the letter in the mail, the code has already expired. Have to go through the process all over again! It's so frustrating. I've been trying to get help for over a year with no success.

I would give it -5 stars if I could. The Lady Who Worked on the Window u201cEu201d is absolutely Very Rude and horrible. She needs to get fired. This was worst experience I had with the SSA because of her.

i have been at constant war with this office the past 4 months. I sent something in, one guy said they had it and updated some things to get it fixed and told me to call back if i didnt receive my check within a week-- i didnt. called again, the woman on the phone then said they never received the mail, so i had to refill it out, send it again, and i waited another month and never got my check. now i am stuck trying to get in contact for the past few weeks on hold for hours at a time and still no response. very poor service and lack of communication.

The woman representative gave out incorrect information by telling me I didn't qualify for widower's benefits because I wasn't married 9 months. I told her my wife passed away from an accident while on active duty in the military. Therefore, I fit into one of the exceptions and I didn't need to be married for 9 months. Incredibly, she asked me what is my definition of an accident. She also told me it didn't matter if my wife was in the military. She also told me the Social Security Administration has a very specific definition of an accident. When I reiterated that my wife passed away from an accident, she hung up on me. That particular woman definitely needs further training in order to do her job properly.nnUpdate April 2022: SSA applicants beware dealing with this office. 2 different employees told me I didn't qualify for SSA benefits. They were both dead wrong. Know your rights and if necessary get your Congressional Representative's office involved.

Calling into any of the offices in the Portland area is basically asking to be put on hold for six hours.nnWhen you finally do speak to anyone they are short, rude, and don't treat themselves as human and expect others to be like that when applying for disability.nnIt's almost like it's designed to be torturous and require a lawyer who enjoys sadistic problems for profitnnIf my phone went back any further this would actually show a good day, I've sat on hold out of spite for what felt like days, I think at one point the hold music has triggered a hypnotic trance where I forget all of reality

I called here and was on hold for on hour. When the person answered she seemed bothered and irritated. I asked to make an appointment and she did, I asked if I needed to bring my birth certificate and she said if you want to. The Form SS-5 application instructions state you MUST present that document.nI arrived 1 hour early, nobody was waiting. I was greeted nicely by security and directed right to the window.nThe gentleman that handled my documents was very polite and fast.nIt took 10 minutes to complete.nI was given a paper to review confirming my changes, and a paper stating the changes were made and expect a new SS card in about 2 weeks. I expect it may take longer due to Covid and the offices just opening back up. (Not sure why they can't just issue a card onsite?)nI was apprehensive due to the reviews here, but honestly I didn't have a bad experience at all.

I changed my name almost 7 months ago and this office not only lost my legal documents , they won't admit to any wrong doing, won't reimburse me for the lost documents unless it's proven to be their fault and they claim to have mailed my documents back but I have received absolutely nothing in 11 months. They don't track anything they mail out which is a HUGE red flag.

Never will I ever do business here again. I applied for a social security card with my new married name 2 months ago and havenu2019t received anything. I try calling, no answer. Donu2019t even bother, go to a different town for government services. When I went to check up on it a month ago, all the workers told me was to get patient. Why couldnu2019t he look up my status? They also say appointment only, thereu2019s no way to even schedule an appointment. This place SUCKS.

Good luck getting through on the phone. I've called multiple days, at multiple times of day, been on hold for hours and never once spoke to an individual. Walk-ins are not currently available so we are left with no options if we have questions.

My father was more available and communicative than anyone who allegedly works at this seemingly always vacant building.nI started and played through an entire videogame and it's storyline while on hold just to be hung up on 20 minutes before they 'closed'.nAt least my day wasn't completely wasted like everyone else's.nnTl;Dr - Just stop being disabled or move to another country; Your passport will arrive quicker than a callback anyway.nnEDIT: two months later and this place is worse than cancer.

The website isn't clear enough that they aren't doing anything in person. We paid for parking to have to stand around with 3 other visibly frustrated people calling a number and being put on hold for longer than the estimated time provided.

So I am my sons representative payu00e9e, he has a severe disability, and I also live in income restricted housing. I am trying to get a copy of my sons award letter that is current to prove income for the apartment we live at. The SSA office is not open, Iu2019ve received no mail from SSA for well over a year now. Every time I try to call I get hung up on by the automated answering service, there no way to make an appointment, and no one ever answers the phones. Iu2019ve never had a good experience at this SSA office. They all seem not know anything or have any answers. If youu2019re able to go to another location I would recommend doing so.

After waiting 5.5 weeks for my social security name change, they sent a card with my last name spelled wrong. Now again trying to reach the office. Have been hung up on 7 times before reaching a person and currently on hold for 50 minutes. I guess no one answers the phone here. Something is terribly wrong with this system. If I could give -5 stars I would. But there's nothing you can do and no one cares!

They misspelled my son's name on his social security card. My roommate had the exact same thing happen to her. I do not know how you mistake sylvester for SylveRster, but ok ud83dude44

Can never get through to a person to make a n appointment. The hold music stops, no one answers, and they hang up.

#u2116u00b9window dude w/Carsu00ae was great, got me away from windowu00b9 quickly and out the door, letter-receipt in hand with correct mailing address for replacement card. Waited u2074u00b2ish minutes, 42 :)

Willfully negligent. I can echo what others say about this office being abusive to people. Called 4 or 5 times and hang up on me after 15 minutes. Send snail mail and 2 faxes. Only replied once.

Got my name legally changed, which was shockingly easy, but trying to get a new social security card has been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life because of the people at THIS office. Sent in my court order and a temporary driver's license (unexpired, because getting a new driver's license was also really easy) with my application, this office sent them both back with a letter saying they'd been added to my record. All good, right? Just need to wait for my new card. After a couple weeks, I call, get ahold of someone after three tries (someone picked up and I could hear them typing, but they refused to say anything or acknowledge me), and they tell me I need to wait for the application to finish processing. OK. Two more weeks go by, I call back to check on the status. Now I am told they didn't accept my temporary license and I need to mail or drop off the permanent one. OK fine, thanks for the info, I mail it in. Today I get my license mailed back to me with a letter that sayswe are returning your license.I CAN SEE THAT. DID YOU ATTACH IT TO MY APPLICATION LIKE I ASKED YOU TO? CAN YOU COMMUNICATE WITH ME PLEASE? Tomorrow I get to call them AGAIN, it will take me three more tries to get ahold of anyone, and I doubt they will be able to tell me anything. I know it's the government, I know it's Covid, but my god! People change their names every day, this isn't some bizarre situation that should be so difficult. Absolute staggering incompetence. They're also messing up my new name on this paperwork, which I am not happy about either.

Share details of my own experience with this place you say..., Well Google, I can't exactly do that because the mouth breathers that do, well, nothing at this location cannot be bothered with answering my phone calls. And you cannot make an appointment without calling. And they cannot seem to find employees that want to do their job.
    Brian Frinzi
Wait time on the phone was surprisingly short. But I had more questions to ask and she just hung up on me mid conversation and didnu2019t even ask if I had more questions or say have a nice day. I got one question and then hung up on... that was surprising and for a government business the rudest call Iu2019ve received and thatu2019s saying a lot.

Two weeks ago I was told they close at 4pm. I went over today because I need to give them name change and ID cards (apparently they need my old one and my new one for my name change, hope I don't get spoken to by the cops or I'm going to jail). I stood outside the office at 3pm and called. I was told they close at Noon Monday-Friday. I work Monday-Friday. I got off early today to DO THIS. I had to go to to the post office and spend $20 to mail the papers to them. I hope I can mail it to this address because if I'm supposed to send it out of state and they didn't tell me then I'm completely screwed out of my life.

Very disappointed in the lack of efforts in the social security administration to obtain u201csecurityu201d of my identity. I need to get a name change, have all the documentation to support it and canu2019t get my License renewed until I get the step done through SS Admin. No apt available for me and I am being expected to mail my documents, photos of License, ss# and birth certificate via snail mail!?! I canu2019t even drop off my info in person to eliminate mail theft/fraud. Such BS!nThe offices can practice COVID guidelines just like most businesses have had to do in the past year! Letu2019s get to work People need these services!

On hold to SS office for 25+ minutes, then was hung up on.nSecond call on hold for (only) 24 minutes. The fear of being disconnected was always there, especially when put on hold.nI can't count the number of times I have had negative experiences calling SS or other government entities. I guess it's the norm and to be expected anytime we contact a government agency; but, it should not be!

I called today to ask about getting a new social security card with my new married last name I waited only 9 minutes total to speak with someone I recommend calling Tuesday's around 2pm like I did today and the lady was very nice and explained everything to me how I can mail application in or use there Dropbox so that would be FREE! I have a DMV appointment to get a new ID with new name she said they would do that and help they do that now because of covid and she said then I can set an appointment to see them face to face with my application and old IDs which you turn over because you won't need your old ones when you have a set of new ones. No need to keep old IDs why would you unless you plan on doing something shady. Hope this post helps yall. #AdultingToday

Reading the reviews I was worried I would be stuck here 2+ hours. I arrived at probably around 12:40pm and was done in less than 20 minutes. I went in since I'm changing my last name and needed a new social security card. My number was called after only about a 5 minute wait! I don't know if I just caught them on a slow day or what, but I am very pleasantly surprised by my experience here. Also, the people working here were very nice and friendly!
