I've called three times today. First person hung up during our conversation after I had waited for 45 minutes. Second call wasansweredafter 43 minutes with a recorded voice saying to call back another time. Tried again. At this moment, I am on hold for 46 minutes and I know I will still not get a living breathing human being to answer my call. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Can only make an appointment if what you need is basically extremely critical. Good luck!

I have tried off and on to get ahold of someone that can help me. Between offices being closed and no one answering the phone, I have no idea how I am supposed to figure out what I am supposed to do. I had a phone appt. at least a month ago, and by the end of the call was told that I was successfully enrolled in parts A and B. Later I called to find out how my retirement from CA works with my Social Security and was told about a form LR 564? On that same call the person told me that she couldnu2019t see anything saying I am signed up for anything yet!! I have tried to call several times and no one answers. How am I supposed to get any information if offices are closed and no one answers the phone?

Good luck reaching anyone at this number. I have tried multiple times and never speak to anyone. Phone battery will die before you ever talk to someone.

I never thought I'd say this about visiting a government building, but I had a great experience!!!nLauren? What ever they're paying you? It's not enough!!!! Thank you again for everything you did for me.

Worst - absolutely without a doubt, worst in my 57 years, worst phone/contact experience ever - by a multiplying factor that makes the SSA the worst personal experience a person can endure in their lifetime. Itu2019s worst than cancer. Beware: this is abysmal - by design. Itu2019s torture, simply put.

Phone numbers don't work, office hasn't been open for 2 years, and security staff was rude/unhelpful. Told to call the national number who gave me wrong information after an hour long wait.

Have tried to call 2 days in a row. Yesterday I was waiting for 40 minutes. Today is the same thing. Annoying automatic system keeps telling me to look online when obviously I canu2019t get the help I need online & apparently they donu2019t know how to answer the phone.

I sent a certified letter receipt requested appealing my Medicare insurance rate over 6 weeks ago. There is nothing in my messages and nothing has been received by mail. I have sent two SBA-44 forms over the last 8 months and nothing has been responded to in a timely or accurate manner. The phone system at the Lenexa office will not process a call to an appropriate Social Security Admin worker.

Iu2019ve been trying to call for 3 days to confirm they received my documents to change my name. Each time i finally get ahold of someone, they hang up on me. Iu2019m not sure whatu2019s going on over there. I understand no one being in the office, but if we have to mail in documents it should be easier to get in contact with someone.

As of 6/10/21, the office is still closed for COVID. The SSN website only lists that the office is closed but gives a phone number to call. I called to inquire about replacing my child's SSN card (can't do it online if they are under 18). The woman informed me that there is a drop box and that I have to leave her ORIGINAL passport with the application. Then it will be mailed back in 3-5 business days. That in and of itself makes me very nervous. It's takes a lot of time and money to get your passport renewed, especially if it gets lost. But there is no way around it she said, so I drive over to drop it off. Turns out there is a guard there that informs me the drop box is CLOSED. You can only drop off applications in the drop box from 9am to 11am, a two hour window. The woman I spoke to did not indicate this. The WEBSITE does not say this. PLEASE update your website so people aren't wasting their time. Better yet, OPEN the office back up. I'd gladly wear a mask, wait in my car, whatever. This 2 hour window and having to just hope that your very expensive ID will make its way back to you is ridiculous.

Crazy long wait time by phone. There needs to be a better way for older folks to be able to contact you. Constantly telling me to go to a website is ridiculous.

Spent only 19 minutes on hold this afternoon, 2/25/21. Carissa was very helpful and courteous. This is similar to all of the experiences I have had at the SSA offices and on the phone. The level of professionalism is extraordinary for a government office. We were given all of the information we requested and were done with our phone consultation in less than 15 minutes. The SSA has a great set up and Carissa was an excellent representative.

As of 1/26/22 there is a drop box that is open from 9 Am - 4 Pm. The actual office is closed.

Have never gotten through to an agent. After several minutes on hold, the calls always disconnect and have to redial and start the process over.

I came here to have my last name changed. The wait was, of course, long. I arrived at 9:15 am, got in line, and settled in with a book. The woman who assisted me was polite, I wouldn't say friendly, but she wasn't rude and she didn't seem exasperated with my questions like they always seem to be at the DMV. She took the marriage certificate and typed everything in, then verified with me twice to make sure everything was correct. It took about an hour and a half to two hours to get to an agent but she was competent and quick so the actual process took less than 20 minutes start to finish. This office is much better than the other 2 I've used in the past. Also, I expect a long wait. It a government office, with only a few employees and everyone and their brother's cousin is in there trying to get things done. The employees have no control over where it's located, how it's staffed, or the moods of the other employees and contractors around them.

Got there at 8:30 am and was 7th in line. They opened at 9 am sharp and we saw an agent in less than 10 minutes. She was very friendly, professional, and helpful. What a nice experience from a bureaucracy! We were out of there by 9:45. I had expected the visit to take half a day!

6 hours on hold and they lost my marriage license

Our tax dollars hardly at work here... over 30 people in the waiting room... 16 service windows, only 4 of which are staffed... people are leaving after waiting over an hour and not receiving services. They have called 10 numbers in exactly 60 minutes, 2 of which had left out of frustration. One gentleman waited over an hour and was then told to complete his request online(not sure what that was for)!n95 minute wait for a 3 minute process.nWhy can't Kansans get replacement SS cards online when over 30 other states do...?

I donu2019t get it. Canu2019t go into the office but they say you can make an appointment?Needed to do a name change and they will not except a photo copy of your Id. So I guess I am with out my drivers license for a week? That doesnu2019t make since, but they will accept a letter from a physician? What! How is that secure?

Had an awesome experience here today with Enid. Her service was fast, friendly, and helpful. Made everything extremely easy. I actually left a note for her district manager on the little review card because she did such a great job!

I arrived exactly an hour before the office opened and was the first one there. (I moved from Dallas and could not believe there wasn't already a line wrapped around the building.) I was fully prepared to wait and be patient. I checked in at 9:02 and was walking out at 9:08. (I was changing my name on my card.) I seriously can't believe how easy and quick it was!
    Kara Manning
Not willing to arrange appointments for citizens that do not wish to mail in their drivers license. Do not provide an easy alternative. The SSA needs to reopen ASAP, this is making it nearly impossible to get stuff done!!
    Rebecca Altman
Having recently moved here I was anxious about going to the SS office. I'd spent over 8 hours in the social security office in Ohio trying to accomplish what I did here in under 1 hour. Literally, I waited 35 minutes then it took Darryl 20 minutes to take care of our situation. I couldn't believe it! I know this isn't everyones experience but it's mine! I had to change my 3 adopted childrech social security cards/numbers/names so it wasn't a quick thing.... Again 8 hours in Ohio!!! Thank you

Walked in, was greeted by a very friendly, helpful officer, signed in and was called within about 30 minutes. The service I then received was outstanding. Melissa was very helpful with all of my questions and getting my problems resolved. She is a very good example of customer service and dispelled any preconceived notions about dealing with Social Security. Thank you Melissa.

I was there today and the nicest person -- KIM P - helped me with my Medicare sign up. The Trooper on duty was fab and I waited about 7 or 10 minutes to get helped. Kim was awesome!!! AND so professional and polite!!! Thank you!!!!

I went on a Tuesday afternoon and did have a wait. The security guard was very helpful as well as the check in person. My agent Chad was very friendly. A pleasant experience.
    Jeff Mackey
Security guard with an attitude who has made it clear he doesnu2019t really work for the social security office. No ticket assistance/ way to view if youu2019re in the que. I could care less if I wait here for 4 hours I just want to see if I am in line...
    Michaela Bell
Courteous staff, answered my question sufficiently. The only thing I didn't understand was why a necessary form to enroll in Plan B was unavailable online! I had to take the form, scan it to the proper person to be signed and filled out, wait for a pdf reply and then print and send the form via USPS back to SS offices.
