Staff are very understanding, patient and welcoming. The security guard went above and beyond today by walking with and helping to calm my adult son who was having trouble coping with the appointment. Staff were quick and located answers to our questions. Thank you Independence Social Security Office!

I had to go in the office today with my 3 year old son who has autism he doesn't like new surroundings, crowded areas, alot of noise and the slightest one of these changes can set him off into violent outbursts which was the case today bitting and hitting himself, throwing his sippy cup making messes on the floor twice, yelling and knocking my glasses of my face. I felt bad and it brought me to tears as I felt I was the cause of these outburst because I had to take him into this setting to complete the things I had to get done like dropping off his medical diagnosis for his disability interview on Tuesday, and getting a new copy of his social security card. Even with all this going on the security guard was trying to play with my son, talk to him, show him the fan just doing any and everything he could to make a smooth wait till our number was called. Then once we got to the window the gentleman assisted us and again both were supportive trying to make the transactions as smooth as possible for my son!!!!!! It truly makes a difference when you have people in this office who cares about others. Thanks again gentleman for going above and beyond the call of duty to make my son's Paul and mine a little easier!!!!! You two really need to be recognized for your kindness. When I left out that office today I knew that no matter what a child's disability these two man will go above and beyond to make their time at this office more enjoyable!!!!nnThanks again Tammie and Paul Harris

I called and asked specifically what I needed to bring to get a replacement social security card for our grandson. Three things. That's it. I get in there and wait and wait and wait, just to be told that he has to be there also. Total waste of my day. Total lack of professionalism.

The man working the window is an idiot. Didn't know what suspect meant, repeated the same info over and over and over again. Wouldn't listen when my wife and I were trying to give him new info. Blamed the mistakes on DHS when they said it was in MD. Now we have her work authorization card and he still doesn't know......

Only one person working and he took a break just 1 hour and 15 min after the doors opened and the lobby is full. If you need to come, plan to stay a long time.
