I am closing on a home on the 30 April and I call the Spencer Social security office on April the 16 at 3:27 pm and spoke with a male agent asking him to please send me a verification letter for payments at age 68 to present to the mortgage company he told me I would receive that letter in 7 business day. Today April the 26 I called again to see if the letter was sent to me and again a got a male agent, he did not identified himself and told me first they never received my petition, even though I have documented day and and time I call them, then it was the post office fault, then when I ask if I could make an appointment in person to receive that letter he said I could not because of Covid and when I ask how can I be sure Iu2019ll will receive the letter before Friday he said he canu2019t control the post office and they said he was going to hang up on me. I was polite to him the whole time, but I was firm I needed that letter, he proceeded to hang up on me. I am just in plain disbelief how I was treated and how inefficient this office is. Loss total confidence on them. I will make a formal complaint to social security. Be aware!

The first time I called I was told someone would call on a specific day at 2pm. I waited and never got a call. The second time I called I asked to find out what my social security payment would be start January 1, 2021 & what it would be at full retirement. As a widow I would collect under my late husband. I was told I would get a letter that would explain all of it. Guess what nothing! Not surprising because this is how our government is working at this time!!

I did not receive a November direct deposit Social Security check. I have called MANY offices, been to the local office, and been to the bank. When I moved to MO from Iowa, account numbers were entered erroneously. Hence, no check. What do I do? No help from any local or national office.

My wait was fairly short considering the horror stories I've heard about these places. In actuality, I only waited around 10-12 minutes total, which is nothing compared to my usual waits at the DMV haha. My rating is only 3 stars however, because I shouldn't have had a wait period. I was the ONLY customer/guest there. The ONLY one. They were just understaffed like all other gov't job sites.

When calling the Spencer office you may have to hold for 10-15 minutes, but it is worth it if you can talk to Brian. He is friendly and knowledgeable.
