I have no complaints about this office. Service here was great. My complaint is regarding communication. The Social Security Administration website says to call to set up an appointment. I called the number provided on the Social Security website and Google Maps 3 different times last week waiting on hold for extended periods of time. I was finally able to get through to someone late last week and they tell me I can't schedule an appointment with them, that I need to call the specific office number. They provided me with the number as I could not find it anywhere. A lot of time could have been saved if the phone numbers for the different offices are listed somewhere, rather than a single phone number for all offices in Virginia. I spent more time waiting on hold on the phone than I did at the office.

My baby was born in Henrico Hospital, but we live in Richmond.. I'm so glad I can reach out to them and get help because THIS office in particular obviously has no business. Does anyone even work here? I call and stay on the line for someone to pick up and NEVER! McDonald's would even answer. A company response under this view means nothing. There are so many other reviews saying the same thing, it doesn't even seem like you'll acknowledge the ones who need assistance. How can I schedule an appointment if NO ONE here is available? The operating voicemail sucks, and then I get transferred to another one, automatically by the system, but still no one here to help, it just hangs up after waiting almost 15 minutes. This is truly ridiculous and theirs no reason for you'll to have an office. Do you need workers? Will you have the patience to train them even if you did? This isn't right. The community needs help and the ones we're supposed to call, has no urge to assist. Am I supposed to just walk in? If so, that would be really nice to know via online, since that seems to be the only option for my questions to be half answered, and still not know what to do. Please do better 2022 and so forth.

Sorry I can't choose ZERO stars. I can't tell you if this is any good because I cannot get ANYONE to answert the phone. This is pathetic and speaks voumnes about ssi. I am trying to get my Medicare start date changed, as I just retired and wasgiven July 1 as a start date (I am 66 years old). This is costing me an additional $1000/month that I do NOT have to waste to get insurance until July. I HAVE the forms required. I have FAXED them twice and mailed them Return Receipt. I STILL have no indication that they have even been looked at. I suspect NOT, since Cary Street must be a ghost office...How long will we continue to use COVID as an excuse?!

I have called multiple times everyday. To get an undate on the survivor benefits for my kids. I turn in all the paper work and got a letter back saying it was received. They said the money would come to my card as soon as she received the paperwork. But I havenu2019t received anything. I call everyday multiple times. Never getting an answer

I submitted my Wife SSN documents online the supervisor called me on phone saying that I have to apply for SSN in person which is great then I got my appointment after 45 days(Insane) I have walked in the security and a gentle man in the front desk helped with the application and he said he scanned all the documents and will get a reply in two week but then I have requested him about the acknowledgement/reference number of the application another person came next door came to me and give a piece of paper which says that I will receive the application to my home address in two weeks. Since I have not received any documents to my mailing address after waiting three weeks I called the customer care they asked me for the reference number to check my status then I told that I have requested for one in the office but they just gave me a paper document which says that I will receive the document in two week. I told my wife personal information and they were not able to find the application status either it is approved/declined or if they need any additional information with my current application the customer care then gave another appointment after 45 days to find out the status in person in the office which is so insane. Did they just put my application in their trash bin after submitting the application why were they not able to find the status at all what's going on with the current location all I see only negative reviews over here and I am also giving one review(loosing my document) because with zero I cannot submit my post.nThanks!nCary street Supervisor.

Horrible. Will not even answer phone. Tried ten times in a row. Cycled through and then hung up on me all ten times. No need to go there personally. Tried that. Locked up tighter than Ft. Knox. Guard says you need an appointment, but they wonu2019t answer phone. Retirees deserve better than this shoddy, non-existent service at 1834 W. Cary St., Richmond, VA. Retired people need help, not ignored.

How am I supposed to reach anyone to appeal and have informal meeting? I was told I had to contact local office for that but I've tried many times. The phone system is whack and noone answers. This place is a joke.

I have to change my review. I am aware the phone attention is stinky, but the supervisors are very nice. I had a problem with my passport, and I had the stupid idea to leave it there: they lost my paperwork, how I could leave there my original passport??? I called so many times... mostly they did not answer, and when it did, the woman by phone was always very rude, please! be aware that some people do not speak English well!!! Well, I was in that office today without an appointment, and the guard was polite when I exposed my case. He called a kind lady, I suppose a supervisor, she was very courteous and took good care of my case. It took some time; even I thought that my passport was lost there... But in the end, my document appeared, it was in the wrong place inside the office. She even apologized for the mistake and my concern about my passport!!nI do not rate with five stars because of the ugly attention by phone.

You have to call to make an appointment. It will not be easy getting a hold of someone (hence -1 star). Their appointments are a month out. Once you secure a date the appointment process will be an ease. Visited two days ago (sep 28) and I was the only one in the waiting room! The woman that helped me was delightful and the security guard was respectful and helpful!nnUPDATE:nnI applied for a ssn & my card arrived in just a week

I'm tired of calling even I got a headache. I waited 20 min. on the phone after that they just hung up on me. I tried 3 attempts today and nothing all my calls being 20 min long wait. It's so frustrating trying to reach social security administration.

The only way to get results is to contact your congressman for help and for a contact person. Even then the staff will retaliate by blacklisting your phone number. I get around that by changing the number after each call. I did have to buy a 2nd phone just for Social Security but they answer every time I call

Itu2019s bad that a government agency can get such bad reviews and get away with their conduct. I have an autistic son who has turned 18 an is nonverbal. This agency has harassed and cut his benefits and when I try to set an appointment to resolve the issue. Iu2019m told that there not doing in office visit. They set me phone appointment up the next day with no time an told me to expect to get a call from their office and still havenu2019t heard anything. They have caused undo hardship for someone who is disabled. They are violating his disability!! Iu2019m guessing the only option is to get a lawyer.

Not only did my form SS5 take almost a full week to get processed from the drop box in your office, I was also sent my receipt a day later than promised (72 hours after the Monday, or 120 if you count the Saturday it was processed) without my driveru2019s license. I wasnu2019t even comfortable turning in my license, but I was told that I had to in order to get a replacement social security card as your website rejects my phone number at the final step - which I was told was because I had an out if state license.nnI work as a delivery driver and am currently unable to legally work because of your critical failure of incompetence. Your office is directly responsible for my current inability to gain the income necessary for my very survival.

Literally impossible to get someone on the phone. I called repeatedly all day and no one picked up. The general SSA toll free number, which just tells you to call the local office, told me they likely only have 2 or 3 people working in the office, so appointments are also hard to come by. This is completely unacceptable for such an essential service.

Is there a way to drop an email or complaint number , it's been more than 2 months and still I am waiting for my SSN,no one picks call or respond
    Chhaya Patil
all the reviews are true, You did be lucky if you get through the IVR, after calling for a month I finally got through the call today!!!

I submitted my name change application back in Feb, it is now April 28 th and I still have not received my updated card. Additionally, every time I call to inquire about it they tell me they cannot see my application or that they my application never arrived. This response is alarming because I received the documents I sent in with my application and a letter stating I would get my SSN card in 2-3 weeks from their office! If they have never seen my application or it never arrived then how did I receive my documents and response? it simply does not make sense.

Just called on hold for about 6 min. updated my information fast ! . Very professional and polite person

I have never experienced anything like this before. I have been waiting for survivors benefits for my son due to his fathers passing. The first time I went I had bring paperwork to give to my worker, I was there for over an hour, I had to get his fathers social security number out of my car, I come back in after 2 minutes and I'm waiting for the lady, after 15 minutes of me standing there I ask another worker if she knows where the woman was that was helping me... only to find out she went on lunch break! The second time I was there for 4 hours waiting and had to leave to get my son off the bus and never had the chance to speak to someone. Every time I call there they are RUDE and Never have an answer for me, I never get a call back from worker. It's been a nightmare dealing with these people! Needless to say it's been 5 months and I still haven't received my benefits and NO ONE knows why! This is money owed to my child! I have never been treated with such disrespect in my life as these people treat me. Attitude from all the workers! Unbelievable, I am so frustrated with these people and this process, I should of received my benefits in March and we are in May now!

Work as a mental health skill builder, and when trying to apply for disability with a client we were immediately hung up on by a lady when asking for the difference between SSI and SSDI. Called again a few minutes later to apply and had someone pick up and hang up immediately. Finally the third time calling with a different number we were able to connect to a man after 3 hours and start on the application. Don't know the individual hanging up but this is bad practice considering she's hampering the process for those in serious need of assistance.

I do not generally rate government agency offices, however, I see so many negative reviews on here that I had to write about my positive experience.nnI went in to get my details updated after obtaining citizenship, while my wife had to get her name updated. We were both out of office in less than 15 minutes. I was expecting to wait at least an hour, but the entire process was quick...pretty impressive for a run of the mill agency office. There's ample parking on the street and near their office.

I have been trying to call this office for at least 6 months and no one will answer my calls I had to call the national number to do an address change and even then I had to do it 4 times and now I lost my SSI because they sent the papers to the wrong address! And once again I canu2019t get through on the phonennUpdatenOnce again was supposed to have an appointment at 2 today over the phone they were supposed to call me they still have not called and itu2019s 2:30 tried calling them they wouldnu2019t answer the phone

They will not answer the phone!! It just rings and rings until it finally disconnects! There is no way to make an appt since they won't answer phone. Each time I called way before 4pm
    karisma:D denn
How is it PHONE SERVICE ONLY and they donu2019t even pick up!! First time I called I heard no waiting music it was just like somebody picked the phone up just so it could stop ringing. I waited 15 minutes then tried calling again . This time it said that they were busy goodbye. Like what the hell.

Long waiting. If you call the main Social Security number they won't have an appointment until 2-4 months away. I went their at 9AM got a ticket went two counters then had to wait a third time in line which all took 1PM to get everything done but after we got everything done. The paperwork was not set up right so now the only way to get it fix because the employee did not know what he was doing. I'm still waiting on my back pay and no one can tell me what's the hold up is.
