They never answer the phone! I can't even walk in to speak with anyone that works in the office, yet there is an empty room full of chairs....the website doesn't allow you to make an appointment online, you have to call the number. Every time I call, I only get the busy signal. I call the office, and it's back to back dial tone and automated information, no asking to select an option for help. There has to be another way other than to force us to mail/drop off sensitive documents to do a simple task of verification and to trust that they will get returned to us. We shouldn't have to jump through hoops like this and be ignored.

This is my local Social Security Office which is still approximately 30 minutes from me and theydo not answerthe phone here. I have been trying to contact this office for over a week and I've even been put on hold and hung up on, but nobody actually answers. I decided to try another area and they picked up immediately! 1st phone call. People have questions and need to schedule appts. It is hard enough when you can't even step foot inside the door because they're still adhering to Covid restrictions! When I stopped over there after speaking to another agency, I still went to the Rockford location to drop off the documents and the security officer was even extremely rude. This office really needs to change! It is extremely hard to get service here!

Everybody is very polite and helpful, from the security officer to the specialist who assisted me. Unlike my local Social Security Office (Woodstock, 20 mins away from where I live) they picked up the phone right away so I was able to make an appointment for the next day. I was in and out of the building in literally 4 minutes.

Let me tell y'all a little about this place and the lady that did not HELP me this morning, first I sat there for 30 minutes then finally my number got called and I was the 4th person in line, this lady at window A she is short with short dark hair and wears glasses and this lady is absolutely rude and makes it so unbelievable hard for anyone to do anything. 2 old men went to her before I did and I couldn't believe they would have someone like that working in a government office little alone working around the elderly, all I wanted to do was change my last name and I had everything I needed but since my DL was paper and not the hard copy with the right last name Ishe wouldn't HELP ME. I'll never go back to that office and I would hope everyone would report the problems that go on there.

Had to wait HOURS on a phone call. Doesnu2019t even give an option to leave a voicemail, just drops your call. Horrible wait times, I get they may be busy, but for hours on end not one person can pick up the phone? I find that hard to believe. Wish I could give 0/5

I called to inform the local office about a typo in their notice. The lady answered the call kept telling me based on the procedure they cannot correct the typo!? I asked her she can check and verify the error based on the information they have about me on the records. If the office misspelled people name from an A to an E, why canu2019t the typo be corrected ? She hang up on me!

We need to report this office. They never answer the phone. They constantly disconnect your call after waiting a half hour.

Perhaps employ people that have better customer service skills and phone etiquette. Not a pleasant call.

My husband called and spoke with a woman who was EXTREMELY RUDE. She was short tempered in her answers, she was sighing loudly when he asked her a question, and she was very abrupt and impatient with him. There was no excuse or reason for her to be this way towards him. I was sitting right there next to him and I could not believe the way she was acting. I would never keep an employee that treated anyone that way, especially a person that was calling for help and had honest, serious questions. She got us both so riled up that I told him to just hang up, as he continued to try to be nice to her. I called back and the gentleman that answered this time was very patient and helped explain to us what was going on.

Frustrating. After a very long wait time, a lady picks up and with not even a hello, abruptly asks for my SS number. Like wow. Not only is that rude and unprofessional but also completely irresponsible and dangerous! That is private and sensitive information and should be treated as such on a phone call, especially considering how concerned the SSA is about scam calls targeting SS numbers... That asides, the lady refused to believe I was who I said I was and after aggressively asking for more and more personal information and when I correctely answered all of them, rudely hung up on me before I could clear up and explain the situation... Fortunately after another long wait I got put on the line with an actually competent employee who was not rude or impatient and actually helped me by answering my questions and concerns. And get this -- not once did she ask for any personal information because -- IT WASN'T RELEVANT TO MY CALL TO BEGIN WITH.nnUgh. If you find yourself on the phone with someone that sounds like that first lady, do yourself a favor and ask to be put on hold until somebody else is available because she clearly hates her job and doesn't want to put in the effort.

I lost my card. I can only get a new one online. After applying I now have to wait 10 days to get a code to then try to get a new card. I start my new job tomorrow. They don't want to wait

Appointment was at 2:15 and we were called back by 2:30. Can't remember our gal's name but she was great. Very nice and informative. She answered all of our questions and we never felt rushed.

It's not the fault of the people who work here, however I stood in line for 25 minutes prior to them opening the door sweating and shaking because of my pain. I have worked 30 years and will be 62 in just a few weeks. I saw so many people in line laughing and talking with grandparents and parents while I don't have either alive to talk to anymore. I paid into the system even after suffering a serious back injury 18 yrs ago and went on to school and continued working. I worked an additional ten years and paid a lot into the system, yet I will get less than$100. A month after struggling so hard to earn what I paid into the system that those who chose not to work. many people abuse the system and get paid for nothing. I have personally known parents and their children on SSI for no reason. The system needs to change. You need to work and be a productive person unless you have a real disability. I think our system needs to investigate some of the people who claim to be disabled. I have ranted enough. I just want to get what I earned and hope I can voice my opinion of what I see as B's. God bless

Went there with no appointment at 8:50 am on a Wednesday before they open at 9. I was 18th in line when they opened. Quickly checked in and talked to someone within 10 minutes. Sat down with some one within 5 more minutes and left by 9:30. Everyone was friendly and efficient.

Its Rockford guess my expectations were to high. Waited on a call for 45mins to just be told to go to the office. This is exactly why (A. I.) is taking over customer service jobs, it can be programmed to do the same but more efficiently.

So, we were told previously to apply for SSI with my wife because we qualify. Today after going some guy namedBilldecide that in Ann effort to deny poor people access to programs, and to make our claim invalid he would nitpick the interior details our car then say well you only qualify if you get rid of your car because it's worth too much... The claim was processed has denied so in order to reapply now I have to sell my only vehicle. I'll be filling formal complaints.

Went to sign up for social security on a Wednesday afternoon. Everyone was very helpful not like the u201cDMVu201d . I was in and out in 15 minutes. Thank you all at the Rockford office!!!

It was clean, and the staff are always nice and able to answer any questions I would have. They helped me as much as they could, and although it is surrounded by all 1-way streets and takes me forever to find my way into that parking lot, lol! I've always been able to, eventually make my way into the vicinity. I have a hard time due to 1 of my 5 severe disabilities charted, 1 of them was from getting hit by a motorcycle and tumbling to the ground and having been given discharge papers explaining my brain was lacerated from my spine and being awoken from a coma 5 days later from something i didn't even recall have happening.. to me was a shock to say the least of how i felt, and haven't really been normal since. I was told i will forever remain confused, and to have adult adhd because of this, i still stay hopeful the state will eventually grant my s.s.i. for me and my little ones to survive and get by, what a long road it has been since the accident caused by a drunk motorcyclist that struck me in 2005. As always, I stay strong and confident, it will be okay! ud83dude0a

One of the worst places to go for help. This office is a complete joke. I visited for 2 hours to be told lies. I then called and asked to speak to a supervisor and i was denied. They speak to you as if they are paying you out of their pocket. Abby was rude and her i dont give a damn attitude was even worse. I asked for a way to contact corporate and she declined. They dont work with the 800 number so all of your information is tossed around and its up to you to figure it out. One of these worst experience I have ever had.

The gross incompetence of this office in routinely losing our financial records and misrepresenting our employment information, caused us to be overpaid $10,000 for our disabled son, that we now have to pay back due to the idiocy of this office, nothing more. I would advise anyone to seek their services elsewhere.

I am here now. My wife and I were called to window B by Amy, who turned out to be a God send. She gave us more than all the information to help us, she gave us the encouragement we needed at that time. God Bles her. If all the workers here could give the kind of help Amy gave us, this place can be a blessing for all. Thank you Amy.
