The worst experience you can ask for.. people are lazy and disrespectful.nwould expect to get through to the office and as they hang up and never answer the phone. I always have to go to the social security office for my things, and itu2019s very easy to do certain things. Like get a marriage certificate, birth certificate, things like that. And itu2019s not crowded. Every time Iu2019ve gone there itu2019s never been crowded. And itu2019s clean, the bathroom is clean so itu2019s good

After being on hold for 3 hours, an automated message saying call back - after 4 attemps - they said I was unable to schedule an appointment to complete a name change.nWhen I asked questions about what to do, or what I can do first - she was unable to even answer my question.nOur taxes pay these people to serve us, maybe get people who can answer proper questions.

You can Never get thru with their number that's given. Called another number and they said leave your original documents in the drop box. Why would I leave my Driver's license in the drop box?. Been trying to get an appointment since August 2020. It's very frustrating!! Time and time again, has gotten no where!!

Iu2019ve been trying to get in contact with someone over the phone for over a month now. I would just visit the location, but they told me to contact them via phone to schedule an appointment. How when I canu2019t get anyone on the phone? Or if youu2019re not even provided an option to leave a number for callback so itu2019ll reassure us that youu2019ll get back with us. Instead youu2019re requesting callers to just keep calling and be hopeful that this call will be taken. Itu2019s frustrating. If you donu2019t have enough staff, hire people.

Wish I could give them zero stars. You can't go in and make an appointment, you have to call and make an appointment. However, we tried calling 30+ times in the past 3 months and no one once answered the phone. Absolutely useless.

Never never never have I been so disrespected, unappreciated as a fellow human, talked down to, passed around like a hot potato, and all without results! This has to be the worst experience, ever. And as an added bonus, I got to wait on hold for 45-60 minutes for the pleasure, only to be spoken to like I was a 2 year old. I actually spoke to a female who sounded giddy when she announced that I may be too late to enroll in Medicare, as if she would somehow benefit from my denial. What a joke! Mt Prospect, take a look at your staff and weed out those not interested in customer service.

Last 3 days I am trying to reach this office on phone to get update on my rewuest of replacement ssn card but no success. Once someone picked my phone (after 15 mins of hold) but then hung immediately, Rest all calls where terminated after 20 mins asking to call back later.nI also stopped by the facility but I was asked to connect by call onlynIt's over 2 weeks and I did not get my driver license nor replacement card. I wish there could be a way to check status online.

Phone appointment is no longer a must. Stand at the entrance, an officer will come and get you. Inside, expect waiting time of about an hour. Masks required. Staff was cordial.

If only I could 0 stars. No one ever answers. Puts you on hold for 20 minutes and then says no one is available and disconnects. My grandpa passed away and I'm trying to become my grandma's rep payee and no other office will help me because I need to hold of this one but I cannot. I understand everyone is short staffed but this is unacceptable.

Thank you sooo much to officer Szamocki! Just got out of the office , took my parent as a new immigrant to apply for a Social Security card, and he took his time to provide the assistance and submit the application for her. I also asked a question regarding my SS information update, and he did it right away!nIm extremely pleased with the service, very professional, attentive and caring.nnThank you - Jona

I find it funny how you guys are still closed and donu2019t want to help people without appointments. This is the laziest, the most disrespectful service I have ever came across. It shouldnu2019t take months to finally get service.

Office is closed and no one showed up until 9:05 so we left.nAlso good luck if you try to get an appointment by calling the number that is slapped at their door. Honestly its a shame for government agency to treat its citizens this way.nnCovid made things easier for lazy people who work here.nSuch a disappointment.

Need to have better way to handle the customer when you decide to close your facilty when everthing else is open. Been on the phone for 3+hrs without getting someone to help me. Also the security officer at the place has the nasty attitude i have ever seen. If you don't like the job, go work somewhere else

Keep them calling and they will auto disconnect your phone after 20-21 min.. I got my EAD after 5 years and that is just for 10 months and I was happy atleast I can work now but because of SSN office not picking up the calls, no update on ssn status. Its been 1 month that have been waiting for ssn to be delivered :( when went to ssn office, the security guard saidkeep callingit may take month or 2 month to response but keep callingud83dude21nThere is no limit to wait. Really So depressing all this

The facility is opening right now, donu2019t have to make an appointment. Very nice people there, we spend about 30 minutes finish all the things.

Absolutely pathetic service, the people working at this place do not deserve to be employed as they will never answer the phones neither have any voicemail or email response. I have been trying to reach these worthless people for weeks only to be on hold for 20+ minutes and then hearing auto response to call back. During the pandemic I have been going to work every day and doing my job. These employees are doing nothing except taking free pay. YOU ALL SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF and most importantly itu2019s the state department that should be making sure the people needing the service are served as they do get heavy taxes from citizens.

Today I contacted SSA again. This is my 3rd attempt to place an appointment. I was consulted by different agents every time. Today, miss Browny (hope no mistake in spelling her name) consulted me, she was very polite, some of the questions I asked repeatedly to clarify some details, she did not get irritated or else (which is common during phone calls). To be short, I would like to say - keep up the good job Miss Browny! U are doing really great job! Thank you very much once again.

No stars, but there is no such option here. It's 1.5 year after covid has started and all people in different places work day and night. But here they don't. There is no service there. When I was checking their address it was shown it is open 9-4 (who can even come here within those hours you need to have a day off ), so I went there. Guess what, it's closed, but on the big poster it is written - It is open via phone. How is it physically possible please explain it to me. I called and I waited 20 minutes and then the machine voice told me to call back and disconnected me. I don't understand. I just wanted to update my old father's address and 86 years old man was with me , and he doesn't use the internet. He wanted to ask some questions. How can you serve older population?Who are you people and who make those decisions to not open this facility?? Terrible.

Very helpful! If you need their service, you will have to make an appointment via phone in advance (I called on 7/20 at home and 7/28 was the earliest availability. DO NOT WALK IN!!). Only one person can enter the office to meet their staff so I recommend you get there on time.
    OS Jalair
So hard to get someone on the phone and they are extremely rude !!! There is long wait then it goes to answering machine. Reopen in person services.
    Jasmin Arreguin
Poor service no one answers the phone.nThey donu2019t care enough to actually try and do their jobs. Been trying to make an apt since 9 this morning. Still on hold lol smh
    Shir Kob
very hard to get an appointment. You really need to bring anything at all that might be needed or you will need to come back at another appointment.
    Sunny Lee
I called this office several times. People were very friendly and helpful. Never had to be put on hold for an hour. Longest was about 20 minutes, which was understandable given the volume of calls when office visits are mostly not possible.
    upendra doshi
Very poor service. Common sense & integrity missing here. Unfortunately we are in worst hands .nWastage of tax payers money. Fire all & put robot to replace them.

You have to schedule an appointment over the phone before you visit the office for a quick service ..NOBODY PICK UP THE PHONE OR EITHER ANSWER AND HUNG UP ...THIS IS RIDICULOUS

I called two hours today to make an appointment, each time after half an hour of waiting just said that there are no free agents.

Dealing with my daughter's disability benefit has been a hassle. Staff handling her case have been good, but the logistics of checking in, waiting, and the lack of communication make this an Orwellian experience. They need to open an internet channel that allows 21st century communication and document sharing.nnFour years later (now 2021), I'm still dealing with the same office and now during a pandemic. I'm reducing the rating to one-star. Now that most are working from home, the phone goes unanswered and agents usually do not return voicemails (if you happen to have their extension). Calls to the national 800-number refer clients back to the local office, with little or no update on the status of benefits, appeals, et al. No disabled person could ever expect to navigate this system without the assistance of a parent, guardian or attorney who is conversant in arcane procedural affairs. It's quite a shame that this is all we have for our tax dollars---we are letting down our most vulnerable people.nnUS SSA: Please update your IT to modern standards. Be proactive with your clients and stop hiding behind 1990's computer-generated letters.nnUpdate 2022: Now more than a year behind in paying back pay for my disabled child. They owe her more than 15k, and despite intervention from local Congressman's office, they have failed to produce correspondence detailing the back pay as well as the schedule for repayment (typically 18 months in three tranches). If this weren't a government agency, one would expect to get those funds plus damages for lost opportunity. There is very little recourse except to continue the monthly calls and faxes. ZERO STARS heading to NEGATIVE STARS.nnConclusion: a second intervention from Congressman Schneider's liaison seemed to make a difference. First payment arrived and the total amount owed was finally documented in a letter.

I have called uncountable times, and waited longer than 10 minutes each time without getting through. There is no way to leave a message.nI have tried faxing, but the line is always busy.nThey have no email address listed and no facility for submitting forms online.nI would have given zero stars but at least one star is needed to post.
