Everyone was very helpful and professional. The security guard asked what I was there for and he helped me check in on the computer which really sped things up. I waited my turn and my issue was resolved by a very nice woman in a couple of minutes. Very polite and professional. I was there less than 30 minutes from the time I parked until I left. I did not have an appointment I just went there.

i requested a social security card last November and after 2 weeks i got a letter saying it was on the way. So I waited over a month and called back and the lady told us wait one more week then call back. Called back again today and they said my card was never printed or mailed so they made me redo the application process and are just now sending it out. For something so important you would expect people to take their job more seriously.

Itu2019s been 2 months and weu2019re still trying to get benefits owed. Weu2019ve spoken to several different employees who all promise a solution in a given window of time that eventually passesu2014 first it was a 3 week wait, then 30 days, then 3 to 5 days and now 7 to 10 days. Itu2019s maddening. Weu2019ve made 2 office visits that were complete wastes of time and gas. No one here seems to know whatu2019s going on and each conversation contradicts the previous. People rely on this money to live. Itu2019s not a game. I donu2019t understand how they can operate like this. Most of the employees we spoke to initially came off as helpful (though clearly very inaccurate and/or unknowledgeable ) with the exception of the woman we spoke with today. She was rude and terse. Imagine operating in the social service sector like this when people are just trying to get assistance. It really is a slap in the face to have been dealing with this for weeks and weeks only to find out that everything youu2019ve been told is very much false and then have to deal with a rude employee on top of that. I think weu2019ve been more than understanding and flexible but this is beyond unacceptable and is just complete nonsense.

Call the office, Get through The automated message to talk to an agent. Get disconnected after three rings. Call the national number, Wait on hold for 3 hours, Get redirected by a national agent to call the local office. Rinse and repeat over and over again. You'll never be able to make an appointment. My wife waited in Mexico 13 years to get her green card now God knows how long she has to wait to get her social security number

Be grateful if you are fortunate enough to have Ms. McCaskill assist you in signing up for Medicare and Social Security! The attention she pays to detail is phenomenal and we are so happy we had her help us with this process! She is truly an asset to the Social Security office!

Every single person there couldn't hold down a real job at a real company where they are held accountable. When people call about the death of their loved ones asking for help, these lowlifes at the Joliet office are rude, unprofessional, and outright give misinformation in their responses and the hang up when they are 'tired' and make people call again or send out more documents. They could bring people in the office but they still refuse for no good reason even though Covid restrictions are over. They are heartless and ignorant people whom I can only assume were raised by the same kind of people given how they treat others.

The security guard was very helpful and knowledgeable, I appreciate his help and what I needed to do didn't require an appointment. I was told to knock on the door and ask him for the paperwork I need and turned it in after filling it out.

I got approved for disability in June and still have not received my back pay. I have been calling the Woodridge office because I used to live in Westmont and they just told me today I should be calling this office about it since I have moved. According to Woodridge the payment center did not receive any paperwork of mine in a 4 month window. So I called this office to follow up and see what's going on and the rep I spoke to was pretty rude and unhelpful. She just glossed over the fact that I was approved in June and the payment center didn't receive anything from this Joliet office until October. I pressed the matter and she ignored me about it. She said they still need to figure out how much they owe me, which makes no sense because it was $36k before deductions, and when I have called the national number they told me I am to receive over $25k. So how could they still befiguring outhow much they owe me? It's either a lie or this woman did not explain the process correctly to me and I was rushed off the phone. It's absolutely ridiculous I was approved in June, started getting my regular SSA money in July, and the payment center apparently received nothing from them until October. I hope no one in this office is ever in my position because they'll be at the mercy of reps on the phone who apparently don't give a damn.

I've been calling for months trying to get in to change my name and THEY NEVER ANSWER THEIR PHONES! They won't let you in without an appointment and to make one you need to call but they never pick up their phones. I ended up finding a number for a higher office and I have forms being mailed to me. But they fact that they are so unwilling to talk to anyone is ridiculous.

They LIE 2 you and DONT SEND ME MY 2020 1099nLady was rude like a GROUCHY aunt and she LIED and assured me she would mail it out. I received within 3 days A LETTER FOR MY 2021 income that was incorrect. Iu2019M FRUSTRATED THE GOVERNMENT IS WITHHOLDING MY INFORMATION

Called into the office after being told by the 866 line that was who would be able to help the issue. I call in and after being placed on hold for a reasonable amount of time get an employee that is so rude and impatient. She cut off everything I said made it seem like I was giving the attitude and decided to disconnect the call before I told her off about her attitude. This is a customer service industry where you deal with all types of people. If you aren't equipped to handle people in a caring manner find a new line if work.

I donu2019t like how they let a person who is on disability choose a person to be their payee instead of their own relative. The other thing is that they havenu2019t even know this person for that long and social security just lets them.

I just about fell apart today when I was told by a Joliet Social Security representative today that u201cshe doesnu2019t have time to deal with me right now, there are a million people callingu201d, after I patiently waiting my turn in line for thirty minutes. She told me that, as I had to step away from my patient, what Iu2019ve been doing this last year as I try to take care of a last name change I have been just too busy to do. I thank God this woman is not a health care provider like myself, because despite how busy and exhausting work can be during this pandemic, no one deserves to be pushed to the side like that. I wish I remembered your name, but I donu2019t, so if youu2019re reading this, I ask that you be extra kind to the people you speak to, because you never know what people are going through, and this world could use more kindness. I left 1 Star so this review gets noticed. Otherwise, I would have left 5 stars on this review because I called the office back because I desperately needed help after my important legal documents were lost after being put in Joliet Social Security Officeu2019s hands. A woman by the name of Mary answered and helped me beyond words. I have just had enough of this day and in one moment, she was no longer a social security office employee, she was a friend and a genuinely good person who picked up the exhaustion in my voice. What kind of a world do we live in that I have to be afraid to ask for help? With Mary, I did not hesitate. She immediately asked me for a call back number in case we got disconnected, put me on hold as she went to figure some things out for me, and just was truly a breath of breath air in this crazy world we live in today. So thank you Mary, for being so kind and so HELPFUL- this world (and the Joliet Social Security Office especially) needs more people like you.

Does anyone know if you still need an appointment for the Social Security office in Joliet?

Applied for replacement social security card recently. Part of the application procedure was to leave a form of ID with them and instead of using passport or driver license I left my FOID card. My replacement SSN card arrived but I have not received my form of ID back. What kind of business would do this. I have heard that FOID replacement is just as inefficient.

This place is outstanding! I needed a card replacement and I arrived a few minutes before they opened, security guard (super nice) was outside telling people about the rules and they let us go in before 9am. It took about 10 minutes for them to call my number and the clerk in the window was nice, professional and helpful. I live 10 minutes from the Aurora office but I decided to drive 40 minutes instead since I read nothing but great reviews about the staff in the Joliet location. Thank you for all the people who work there!

I called in to make appointment to update my social security card status and the lady on the phone was so rude. I didnu2019t know that because of the COVID 19 they only serve people with dying need or emergency. But she could have wait until I finish my sentence before go on u201cNo, no,no,no...u201d like talking to a little kid. What an unpleasant experience!

The office and the staff are great here. Yes there was a wait, but when helped it was fast. As always with these places your wait times are the customers fault. This is the second SS office I have been to for a replacement card, the Aurora location is terrible compared to this. Some customers at both are ridiculous, attention seeking monsters.

Robin , a representative at this office, itu2019s kind, patient, and helped me understand an issue that I have been working on for months Causing a mountain of stress for my family. She spent time explaining things to me, and set up an appointment so that I can solve it once and for all. Give Robin a raise. She deserves it.

When in expecting a nightmarish experience from what I heard & read. However, I came away with a new respect for the S.S administration thanks to my caseworker Zak. My 90 minute consultation on December 19th 2019 gave me a better understanding of my benefits and his guidance through the maze of application for my retirement was extremely thorough and professional. Thank You Zak and the rest of the staff in the Joliet S.S. office.

Having been diagnosed with cancer and not being able to earn a living during treatment, Social Security was there for me and my family.nnIt really is a social safety net, and the fine people who do all the work are always super courteous and helpful.nnThis institution needs to be protected from the greed of the political process.

They provide over the phone misleading & promising info over the phone which may not be necessarily true about your claim. You have to wait for hours over the phone and sometime no one answer.
    Bryan Garcia
Waited over an hour first time for my SSN and had to leave for work because I still had about 3 people ahead of me. Here again today and waited for 53 minutes for a ticket number to go up. Called my supervisor so they knew I was coming in late today

Everyone was so friendly, from the security guard to Mrs Napoleon who conducted my interview. Very pleasant experience, thanks for all the help.
    JJ Phillips
Rude, don't do there jobs, cut me off multiple times, talked to three people saying they weren't on my case. Unbelievable and they should all be fired immediately!!!!

Really great service for a government agency!

Iu2019m writing this on behalf of my mother. The lady we saw was very apathetic, rude and very condescending. She even went as far to lie to my mom when she asked a question. Went to tell someone and the security guard came waddling over to me, asked what the problem was then went over to the desk then back to me and told me I need to get a ticket to make a complaint. Last time, everything was wonderful but this time, horrible.
