I was on Monday, but I found out that the door slammed. Now they can open it. I came on the another day after 10am and I did everything I wanted within 45 minutes, including waiting for my turn. All matters were arranged for me by a nice gentleman with long hair. I was very pleased. I don't understand the previous opinions.

Ridiculous service, helpline donu2019t answer the phone. Security guy by the door very rude smiling and having breakfast.

I rarely write negative reviews, but after the interaction with Mr. Marr I felt it necessary to hopefully bring it to the attention of management. Mr. Marr was incredibly rude, irritable, and unprofessional. He was impatient and raised his voice when it was completely out of line. When asked if he could approach the situation with more compassion he stated that he 'doesn't care, and is not a psychiatrist'. Eventually he hung up the phone in the middle of the conversation. I understand that the pandemic has been a difficult time but this is completely unacceptable. This is someone who is supposed to help and instead he is hostile towards an elderly woman over the age of 65.

Didn't have an appointment so it took 45 min to get a representative, but she was extrimly nice and helpful. The security guard was a little irritated but I guess his job is not to answer people questions. Anyway, in the end he did answer my question and helped me.

I called a minute ago to see if I am eligible to make my social security card unrestricted. The representative started yelling at me without any reason. I found her behavior very rude.

Not helpful at all. Always closed, and when you call the help line you stay on hold for couple of hours till you give up.

Rudest people ever. I donu2019t know how they hire such rude people on state institutions. Their voice and their manner is terrible. My newborn sonu2019s social security got lost in the mail and they told me to send my passport and ID by mail after i just told them that it got lost. Terrible service! I will look into reporting this issue to higher authorities.

The stuff is extremely rude, I was constantly being disrespected and was not listened to. After having one of the staff members constantly being disrespectful I asked to speak to his supervisor. Only to find out that the supervisor is rude as well. She did not let me speak and constantly interrupted me. I had enough of there nonsense and went to the one Lawrence where they were extremely helpful and nice. I was in and out with no problems at all.

It has been my consistent experience that people in this office are exceptionally rude and deliberately unhelpful, almost third-world quality. By contrast, my experiences with the IRS have been quite OK.

The security officer is irrational, macho, and threatening. The front desk clerk doesn't give correct information. There is a long wait, and the people who should be able to speak correctly to your issue frequently are unable to resolve anything. There is a pervasive rudeness about the place. SS should close this Evanston office and reopen with new personnel. The SS office on Lawrence Avenue in Chicago is, though larger, a much more efficient and pleasant place to go.

I have visited the office a few times and been helped by different people at times and they all are nice but mostly by Mr. Mar at the window who has always been very helpful and went out of his way to resolve issues that I had. I have even seen him dealing with a very rude, loud and obnoxious woman once with complete calm and professional manner. Folks like him give people a sense of comfort when visiting a government facility.nnThanks for your service.

Avoid this Evanston social security office at all costs. This is the absolute worst social security office I've ever been to. The woman who I met with didn't want to do a thing to help me. This office needs to be shut down and all the workers should be replaced.nThe social security office on Lawrence ave in Chicago is wonderful very helpful people there. Very smooth operation at the Lawrence ave office.

Showed up at 9, wait was reasonable. Customer service representatives were helpful and friendly. Security Guard is rude, condescending and very unprofessional to elders and anyone who crosses his path. He sets the tone for any negative energy in this establishment. Other than him, they are doing great.
    Armando Villanueva
They refused to help me despite my long wait. They gave me the run-around lot that a lot of people think of when they go to the DMV and told me I had to get more forms, despite me having all the right documentation and identification. They are not very helpful and have a terrible attitude.nI went to a Social Security Office in Chicago and the staff there were way more courteous and helpful than these guys.
    Karen T
This staff at this office are the most unprofessional and rude people that I have ever dealt with. One woman who wouldn't give me her name actually hung up on me mid sentence. I can't believe the SSI has kept this office opened.
    Kurt DiClementi
I spoke with a hispanic woman at the Evanston office to inform her that the IRS told me that the Social Security Administration's Evanston office never forwarded information concerning my wife's updated name and re-issued social security card bearing here legally changed name. Her response was,The IRS can say anything they want to say but I have no way of knowing your wife's situation unless she personally calls. When I tried to ask the representative her name, she simply hung up on me. with people like her working in the SSA, it's no wonder the future of that agency is questionable for future seniors.
    Brad Gluszewski
This has to be one of the most incompetent Social Security locations ever. I have had items processing for 8 months until they figured out they just dropped the ball. It is currently happening again. This location either needs to be shut down or the entire staff needs to be fired and replaced. I would not recommend this location to anyone under any circumstances.
    Shafaat Shishir
The women who received my call was very rude. She told me someone will call back and that never happened. Very bad ssn office person. I don't know why govt is not taking it seriously.
    Jason DelaRosa
Once i enter the guard instructed me to go to the machine, while he was talking on the phone hiding on his desk. The seating area is tight and needs to be enhance. The bathroom is ok and clean. The windows on front of us are closed, idk why. They also have a tv monitor but they are not using it cus the staff yells out the numbers telling the customers to designated windows. So what is the use of the monitor? Expect a long wait at the lobby and expect a lot of senior citizens.

Went Friday around 1-3 PM not busy at all. Very quick.nI don't know why people complain aboutRUDEbut I can just imagine that they were slowing the process down for everyone else or something when the staff is trying to push through busy times.nAs long as you read up on what you should do ahead of time, you shouldn't have any problem at all. You can download forms online before you go there and fill them up. Have your support documents ready, present it, in and out in just a few minutes.nBut I can imagine if you go there and start asking questions about what you should do (yes they should answer you politely) it may be the reason for the supposedRUDEattitude.nBut if you were not slowing down the process and they are just plain rude, then I'm sorry. There should be a performance feedback box there. Like the USCIS in chicago. They were nice and they were quick and they take performance feedbacks from every appointment they get..
    R Fraser
If I could rate this a negative 5, I would.nWhat the actual hell is wrong with the workers in this facility? They are the biggest a holes I have ever met in my entire life. They all had a nasty attitude and aren't very helpful. Seriously? If you don't like you dam job than QUIT! I've seen a woman burst out in tears...nOne, they basically YELL at people, I can literally hear everyone's business and problems.nTwo, one of the workers with blond hair called me stupid.. Not even lying, she told my disabled mom that I'm stupid.nI hope to god someone higher up reads these reviews, this place is ridiculous. It's extremely unprofessional and needs to be taken care of. Even the security is weird, you ask him one question and he looks like he wants to attack you.nEither these people need to be replaced it get some anxiety medication to calm down.
    Ms. Nunna Yabizness
The staff are rude and abusive. They mess up my paperwork each visit. Then I need to follow up on their mistakes. I never had a problem with the other office but when I moved here and went to change my address this office messed the whole thing up but failed to actually change my address.
    Elizabeth Torrey
Can they be anymore miserable? These workers really messed up my life. When appling for ssi for my disabled daughter they added to my statement twice that i never said so i got denied! Security there is mean...people behind the desks are miserable! I guess you cant get hired unless you like eating babies and pandas! It starts from management huh?
    MH Moreno
Great service, in/out in less than 20 minutes. Mr Marr at the counter was very friendly and helpful. Went on a Friday morning if that helps. Also read everything I needed to take online before I went, took all forms pre filled, so I am sure that contributed to the speed in my process.
    Julia Walch
These people hear nothing but problems all day long and a lot of them are not within their ability to control. The wait was long and it took some back and forth but my problem was resolved and the woman was diligent in her assistance.
    Zhu Xu
The women staff is extremely rude! She said she would never talk to me and hang up the call directly.
    Peace Keeper
Unable to see me envelope for free just to mail it back what they just send me. What a waste of time and energy.
    mohammed khan
Worst office I have ever been too. Please some one fire the workers. They are so rude. They don't know how to talk. If I had an option I will give negative stars.
