Way better than most of my experience with anything state or federal government. I was there once in person and was treated courteously, though the wait was fairly long. I've called several times recently and only had to hold around 15 minutes. The agents have been efficient and courteous. I see others have had bad experiences, mine have been much better than I expected. Thank you for the good service. I will say however that the security guard could use a little cheering up.

Due to Covid, my related needs has to be scheduled via phone. After many call attempts to near-by SSA, Gainesville is the only office that answered. My appointment was set quickly by Mr Ben and I even got a text message about the confirmed date. The officer seeing me, Mr. Morales has good expertise and experience, he is also very nice and professional. The office is located on the 2nd floor of a beautiful building and is well protected.

If I could give this place a zero I would. Absolutely unhelpful, rude and lazy - they make other government employees look efficient! Itu2019s impossible to get through on the phone to make an appointment (it rings endlessly, then hangs up), but guess what - you canu2019t make an appointment on line either! So I went directly to the office and they wonu2019t even allow any visitors. Absolutely ridiculous! I hope the Social Security administration sees this and shuts down this office. They are the absolute worst.

The security officer at the front door is VERY rude. I had an appointment to do a name change and I called to confirm the appointment. At first they couldn't find it because it was under my maiden name. I showed up the next day and attempted to sign in under the name confirmed the day before and he couldn't find me. I insisted that I confirmed the appointment the day before and he said I didn't have an appointment. I was frustrated and asked him to look under a different name. This is when things turned aggressive and fast. This man felt it necessary to yell at me and threaten me. I couldn't believe it along with the other people in line. As it turns out, they had me under a different name (ud83dude44ud83dude44ud83dude44ud83dude44). He never once apologized and a woman working there seemed to agree with his behavior. I just hope this isn't typical behavior at this office and hopefully I never have to return.nnThe ONLY reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because the person who actually worked with me was very helpful.nnAfter reading other reviews, it sounds like the security officer is horrible to other people too.

My mom is elderly and has COPD She called to update her address with this Office and forgot and called them twice the second time when she called by accident The woman yelled and blessed her out which is completely unacceptable. My mom has moved again and she needs to update her address this time she called and remember that she has COPD well the woman hung up on her and again this is COMPLETEY UNACCEPTABLE, now she canu2019t even get anyone to answer. This is the social security office. What Iu2019m the world is wrong with this place???

I had a great experience with Kelly from the Gainesville office. She was patient, informative, and seemed to really care about helping. She is outstanding and I hope she gets credit for the great work she does.

Unbeknownst to me, my appointment had been set up at the Marietta office instead of the Gainesville office. (It is apparently based on your zip code and you need to confirm with them which office you should go to when you make your appointment.) Gainesville was totally slammed but one of the supervisors volunteered to help set me up for my Social Security and Medicare payments. She and the original person I talked to were very kind and helpful and I am very grateful they took me even though my appointment was at another location. The process took 30 minutes or less and was very smooth once we got past the appointment location issue.

Tried to make an appointment for my wife to get a new ss card. They asked if she had ever had covid before and when she said yes, was thanked for being honest and told since she had contracted covid before, she would not be allowed into the building and would need to have me drop off the required documents and ID's. They will be mailed back in 2 weeks. This is a blatantly discriminatory policy and insane that they expect people to walk around with no identification for 2 weeks and hope they get it back.

Absolute nightmare to deal with. After hours on hold everyday for the last week I still cannot get ahold of a real person. Went to the office and no one can get in, the officer was horribly rude as well. Do yourself a favor and try a different office to save hours of frustration.

I visited this office today. I was inside for only a short while. The people inside were very nice and the person I have been speaking with on the phone has been very pleasant and helpful. Overall, a very good experience.

They people on the phone are rude. And the office is operating under outdated Covid rules. The office is closed and they will only allow one person in the office at a time. They stay booked up gor weeks at a time.

The lady that helped me went beyond what I would have expected. I had a cluster of a mess but with her unwillingness to give up they are all solved. Thanks Gainesville social security ud83dude0a

My husband had a phone interview appointment but they didn't call. I tried to call SS office 4 times and waited for 15 minutes until they cut me off. You can't leave a message either

Ridiculous wait time on phone and rude officers. After paying all that tax, canu2019t even get one service from this office. Shame on SSA.

Been given terrible info from 4 people. With mail supposedly by the first its 10 days then the second who was a guy told me its 14-15 days then the third told me that I will be getting paperwork last week to start my job. Today a woman was doing the same thing and I did get mad and she threaten to hang up so I told her I can easily do that. They don't know their own protocol or have zero training cause mix answers and still nothing is terrible.

One of the security was not cool to me, did not let me in to the building with my baby but I did have an appointment to update my social security number and made me reschedule twice and no success. If I had to give zero star ud83cudf1f I would have .

We went in with my fiance twice beginning of this year, the first time the young man made some kind of error and messed up our application. my fiance came in on a proper visa intending to stay in america (k-1) and the guy messed something up and they denied us our SS, then i went in again went to different person, and same thing, the supervisor seemed like she literally had no knowledge of this kind of visa, saidits out of our handsit really wasnt, they just werent knowledegble in that area of visas. I was so frustrated. its already stressfull with wedding coming up and this was not helping. I ended up going to a different SS office that day and guess what?? they had no issues, no questions and they gave him a SS 2 weeks later. Have no idea why the other one didnt understand. It was such a headache. if youre coming in with a k-1 visa applying for SSN for your AOS, i recommend going to a more populated office one, like atlanta. They know what theyre doing there.

Easy to find, free parking, took about 15 minutes before I was helped, and the employees were quite pleasant.

I can't believe there's no one there to answer calls Go through the entire call menu only for your call to be dropped
    Shelbee Carter
Do not bother calling. NO ONE ANSWERS and you stay on hold.nnThe office is disorganized and completely unhelpful.

Had the privilege of speaking with social security today to file over the phone as I am physically struggling after suffering a stroke leaving me impaired, the representative that took my information was patient and helpful answered my questions explaining patiently I am so appreciative for the time taken and thorough work my individual put forth working with me. Thank you Yevette Primm , you were a blessing.

This place is awful!! They lost my driver's license and would not send back the originals of my documents as promised. After calling I spoke with Ms. Jones, who continued to interrupt me and would not let me speak and tell her the issue. She said the lady she need to speak to can into the office at 10:00. After not hearing anything I called back at 11:30 and was told that they were not going to have more than one person looking for my driver's license and was transferred to Ms. Jones again, who said to call back on Monday.
    The Millers
You should not advise to call and then your voice mail is completely full and nobody answers after holding for 30 mins. Ridiculous.
    Mackey Bentley
Great service!! SSA male employee was very friendly and knowledgeable. I went in to have corrections made on my SS card. It was a breeze, I showed requested ID documents and was in and out in about 20-30 minutes..

Lost wallet can not get a s.s. card because i don't have a picture i.d. these people are not helpful at all been trying for 2 yr.s to get my card . i have my # but does not matter. Rude as can be.

I had to take my mother there to change her address and regain access to her online account for both social security and medicare. The man we had the pleasure of dealing with was extremely helpful, answered all of our questions, changed her address, got her a new password and enabled her to be able to get online to her account again. I am sure he doesn't make near enough money to do what he does, but this is his calling. These days at most places elderly people are treated like cattle in offices where you have to go for services and he made it a point to treat her with respect, even when she asked the same questions a few times. I would say we got there about 8:45 am on a Friday morning, our wait time was about 25 minutes but 15 of that they were not seeing folks yet. We were in and out within 45 minutes. I found it to be a pleasant experience. God Bless you Mr. Davis!

2 out of 3 times Iu2019ve had to call them and they have been unhelpful, rude, and speak over you. They do not care how you get spoken to nor do they care to try and help they just expect you to follow u201ctheiru201d rules even when you explain that wonu2019t work for you. Highly disappointed my taxes pay these people, my dog could offer better service.

I came to the Social Security Administration on a Wednesday around 10:30 to replace my social security card. my wait was literally 2 minutes. I was in and out before I could even feed my baby a snack. I thought I would be here forever. I packed snacks and drinks and diapers and wipers. This is the fastest interaction I've ever had with the government.

I went in with four boys in tow, every parent's dream to have to go into government agencies with kids!!! There were probably 20-30 people already waiting. Needless to say I was a little terrified of the situation and realized I was very ill prepared for the wait. Someone made sure we had a place to sit and then 30 seconds later we were called back. I was so relieved (as I am sure the majority of people there were). Maybe I just hit the right selection on the sign-in portal but I am pretty sure someone had mercy on me! I am so, so, so thankful! Excellent customer service all around!nThe gentleman who helped me was also very nice and didn't give me any issues with specific request I had.
