I went in with an appointment and had all my documents needed with me, a guy that looked like he was in his 40u2019s/white with glasses was u201chelpingu201d me with the process of getting my social security card. He had rushed me and was rude. He watched me fill out my application and also told me I was all good to go. I then still got declined. Turns out there was a part of the application that needed my information but this person had looked at it before he dismissed me. The process of trying to get a social security card is stressful enough and an attitude from a stranger in this place adds more to it.

It took me a few tries to get through between the busy signal and some scrambled phone lines, but when I did the person helping me was extremely polite and helpful. I also had to visit this office about 6 months ago and had an equally pleasant experience.

1st time I called I was on hold waiting to speak to someone for over an hour before a lady took my call. She was rude and sounded aggravated to have to do her job. The 2nd time I called I waited again for over an hour before my call was taken and I spoke with a lady who was very helpful and did all she could go assist me with several things.

SS made mistake with my medicare part B and took it from me for 3 years. They claimed my retirement from be MVD in Arizona was 405.00 per month instead of actual 40.57 per month. Was told I would be reimbursed by close to $4000.00. This was in November of 2021. Have never seen money or heard from SS since. They did reinstate my monthly part B. Admittedly there error.

The first few times that I called I was discouraged by the busy line, but I was able to get through eventually with little trouble! When I was helped by someone, they were kind and quickly addressed my needs and made me an appointment.

UPDATE: I have been trying to get a hold of SSI since OCTOBER. Now, it doesnt even ring for me I just get the busy signal. I have just dropped of my updates at the dropbox with the hope that I did everything correctly or at the very least someone will contact me SOON. Because I cannot get a hold of anyone.nnI WROTE A REVIEW 3 WEEKS AGO: I have been calling for weeks and not receiving a answer. I'll wait on hold forever and then I get hung up on. I've tried my workers extension number, and it is no longer the same worker. I have left messages anyways but I am still not getting a returned phone call. What's going on?

I was on hold for 30 minutes and then it rang through... and they hung up on me ! Called back right away, and I'll keep calling back. I need help. Are they getting paid to hang up?

Even the one star is too much. Wait time at the moment as Iu2019m making this review is over an hour and a half. Just waiting for someone, who I assume isnu2019t even there to take calls, to ask a simple questions regarding a letter that is time sensitive mind you. When the covid hit this is one of the places that shouldu2019ve been affected and shut down being NO ONE ever works there!!! Answer the damn phone!!! You suck!

Continuously hung up on after being on hold. When you do reach a representative they seem annoyed by your call. Open the office, this has been going on a year and 9months.

Great experience. Service was very fast and everyone was courteous and friendly.

Suspecting that a number that called me identifying itself as Social Security was a scam, I called the office and after a short wait was connected with a worker. I got about 3 words out of my mouth (not the phone number in question, however) and I was rudely cut off and told u2018itu2018s a scam, we get a million of these questions and thereu2019s nothing we can do about it. Have a nice day.u201d The worker sounded angry and frustrated, and not willing to even listen to my concerns. This person should NOT be dealing with the public.

Long wait, and Google Maps seems to have outdated directions (it takes you to 1610 NW 13th St which I assume is the old location?) but the SS contact who processed my paperwork, Alisha Jenkins, was fantastic! I literally wrote this review in the parking lot because she was so sweet. She was extremely considerate about trying to get me in quickly to ask a few extra questions so I'd have time to get any additional documentation if what I'd brought wasn't sufficient (I didn't have my physical birth certificate). She got to me within 15 minutes or so and had an incredible attitude during the 2+ hours I was in the building, which is commendable considering the job is fast-paced paperwork. She created a comfortable experience out of a task I was kind of dreading.

I had one of the worst experiences at this place. I submitted all my documentation and they said I would get my card in two weeks. But then when I called them they said they had misplaced my application and I had to go again to give my documents all over again. They made wait again for half an hour before accepting my documents. If you go here please ask for an acknowledgement so that you can hold them accountable.

It would be nice if there were employees actually working to serve the people who are waiting. There are 13 windows for service but only 2 are staffed. The waiting room is full to capacity. I've been waiting for 30 minutes already. A lot of people have been here much longer. We pay plenty of taxes, including for social security. It would be nice if the agency actually cared to provide service.

Waited 1 hour and 8 minutes on the phone to get told there were no appointments available. Told to go on a Wednesday when it was not as busy. Got here at 8:30 and they don't open until 9. Thought I would wait in the car but by 8:45 there were 25 people in line. Now standing in line with back pain while people in line smoke nearby. They could at least let people go in and take a number and sit down!

Wait time was two hours extremely rude worker's and security guard , all of those employee's should be required to be retrained and learn how to communicate in a professional manner and on a professional level when dealingnwith the public , after all that's the work field that they all chose .

this is so unsettling. Im the only nome on my daughters birth cert. I called several times verified and submitted all original docs with letter they sent it all back to me with no letter a mispelled name on envelope and my 4 year old daughter still left by the wayside as dead wieght in a broken system she still cant start school i have to live without accepting employment and cant even apply for assistance without her ss #!!!! im going to live outside building with the doc untill they give me her card or number because not many other options left

I must say my experience with this office was although very detailed, it was at all times professional. I was asked many questions dating back a few years regarding my personal finances but was able to give all the information because it was honesty. I think when we really experience a hardship or circumstances uncontrollable your brokenness becomes your strength. I'm grateful to all the Gainesville staff who assisted in my claim process. I'm most of all humbled to God that this chapter of my life is finally completed.

Seriously incompetent staff. Unwilling to service the citizens who desperately need their help. No flexibility. Went in to get new number for my kids, post adoption and they gave me hell. Would avoid at all costs in the future. Also the lobby smelled terrible, like BO and smoke. Gagged the whole hour plus I waited.
    Lillian Cardona
Did not have appointment and the office seems to be busy so the wait was about 1 hr, but the staff member was courteous, very informative and professional. My visit was about 20 min but everything got taken care of right there. Excellent.

Calls drops or itu2019ll say hold and then there is complete silence. Representatives transferred my call to someone else and the I were disconnected. Friendly staff but this system needs fixing.
    Lauren Simmons
On hold for the last 15 minutes and then the call ends are you serious I've been waiting to talk to somebody and your office is closed so nobody's available in person. The next thing is talking to somebody on the phone and I can't do that when all I get is an automated service that's giving me the runaround and trying to speak to somebody your service ends the call.

I have called many times this week to the local Gainesville Social Security branch and no one is answering the phone. Extremely frustrating.
    Ruby Hume
The worst. Even when I had an appointment the wait time was about 2 hours. They lost all my documents. They lie all the time telling me the check its on its way and nothing arrives. I've been waiting since August 2016. Time to get a lawyer.
    Michael Elliott
I have been to this office 3 times trying to get a new social security card for my adopted daughter and each time the spelling of the name is incorrect on the card when received. Even with proper legal documents with the correct name change and address to send it to the personnel can not get it right. When you try to issue a complaint there is no where to complain to. All of the people in the gainesville office need to be fired. The tax payers pay for their service so we should be able to fire them for incompetence.

I went in today. Got my ticket number A 973. After about one hour the number A 974 was called. I waited a little bit longer waiting for A 973 and it never was called. Decided to leave. Wasted my time!

I GAVE THEM ALL OF MY PAPERWORK, AND THEY STILL CLOSED MY CASE

    betty radford
Security guard rude and not helpful, also not enough sitting. Had to wait over an hour, but was taken care of quickly was we were called back
    Waylon Hoover
Unbelievable. Utterly inconvenient. I went there waited 2 hours and didn't even get the social security card. The guy at window 3 kept speaking over the intercom while 'helping' people. Basically could have done this online without the wait.
