I had a very different experience there today from the one-star revieweru2019s. The receptionist (a man in his thirties who may have been a veteran) greeted my wife and me cordially and had me sign in on the adjacent computer monitor. He found my name on the appointment list and explained it would be 15-20 minutes before the assigned agent could take us. We waited. When 30 minutes had passed and we were still waiting, the receptionist offered to take care of my request himself - u201cItu2019s an IRMAA change, I do these all the time!u201d He asked a few questions, glanced at my tax return which justified the requested change, made the correction, asked if we had any questions, and we were on our way. A clean bathroom is located right in the waiting area. Metered parking is right out front. A mostly very positive experience.

I have been there three times to get a new Social Security card because mine was stolen along with my driver's license & other important documents. I went online & researched everything I needed before I went there. Unfortunately the information online on the US Government SS website is not true. They would not accept my certified birth certificate. They would not accept my health insurance card. They wouldn't accept my certified marriage certificate or any of the other documents that are listed on the federal or state SS websites. I do not have a bank account, a passport, & am not currently employed, so I do not provide any documents from there either. You can't get your driver's license without your SS card & you can't get your SS card without a photo ID. Every time I get the document that the SS office says I need, I go back only to be told by a new person that they won't accept that either. I understand the need to be careful about issuing SS cards because of fraud, but I think things have gone a bit too far when you can't get one & you are a natural born US citizen for over 50 years with lots of documentation to prove that.nnAnd to top it off, today I went there at 330pm. The website says they are open until 4pm, the door posting says 4pm, but the lights were off, no one was there, & the office door was locked at 330pm.

I have been to Social Security in Middletown several times. Each time I have had a positive experience. The people who have helped me are knowledgeable and work swiftly to resolve any issues and answer my questions. Mr. Scivetti helped me today and he was great..I hope I've spelled his name correctly. Thank you again

My only issue with this location is the long wait times. I know they do the best they can, but that is why I would give it 3 stars. The staff is friendly and the location is convienent though, so all in all its not a horrible experience. Just bring a book or something to occupy your time if its busy.

Easy to find but.... When i went to the receptionist she was very rude , spoke openly about my personal business in front of everyone in the lobby. Wouldnt take my id when she asked me for it ...she told me to put in in front of her when id already been holding out for her for a min or two and wouldnt even give me eye contact.. She treated me very poor. Also told me i had to go to Hartford S.S. office to change my address and thankfully i told her that i was only changing my address temporarily.. It was a nasty experience. If you dont have to go to Middletown S.S. administration dont. Try to go to another town.

While there are many changes going on because of Covid-19, the staff here, particularly Mr. Vasquez and his manager, were extremely professional, helpful and accommodating. Thank you!

I haven't been to the office as my walking has almost become unbearable. However, I have tried calling to get directed to what I need to do for my dilemma and I am calling well well before 4 in the afternoon. Each and Everytime I am told the office is closed by a recording. So what is a person to do????
