Since you are aware of the myriad of glitches to your phone service (the main number warns you your call might drop, can you imagine????) , why don't you open a chat line. I have been trying to call you for 2 hours. (not the up to 15 minutes when it's busy like you profess) My favorite glitch is when it just rings incessantly. My second favorite is being on hold for 27 minutes and THEN it rings forever until finally it says to try your call later. You could maybe do that before the 27 minute hold? One time, I merged the calls so I could explain the incessant ringing--silly me thinking that civil servant might want to report the problem????--and the agent HUNG UP ON ME WHEN AFTER TWO HOURS OF TRYING TO DO THIS I FINALLY CONNECTED. This is my government at it is apparently at its very, very worst. Congrats guys. And every 30 seconds they interrupt withThank-you for holding. We'll help you as soon as we possibly can.How about being able to make an appointment online besides manning a chatline? There are a hundred ways for you to improve. That's what taxpayer dollars are supposed to be for. Not so people get a well-paid government job and stop thinking. Besides the over two hours to get to the Walnut Creek office, I spent 70 minutes trying to get through the national office who knew nothing and told me to call you. It's a sad day for this country when the richest country in the world can't get it together.

Call for appointment only. The security guy was very helpful, and the staff (#4) window inside the office verified and working on papers was friendly.

I was not able to reach anyone via phone call after calling multiple times throughout the week and waiting on hold for at least 30 minutes each call, however the in person service is pretty swift. You donu2019t need an appointment, it wasnu2019t too crowded at all, and the customer service was pretty good too. Very fast process.

I asked my daughter to call this branch because I am disable and unable to get to the office. My daughter took off time during work to call and was on hold 15min. The first time a man answered and after she presented my case, the man hung up. She called back and waited another 15min and a woman answered, same deal, the woman said, give me a minuteand hung up.If you can't help, spare us our time and yours from being wasted&gifting us with your negative experience. What does it do for you to be irritated by a request for help? This is probably towards closing hours and its understandable if your agents just want to go home, we don't want to derail you. Just please be so kind to let us know what is appropriate to do instead of disregarding our time and hanging up the phone.

Your phone line service agents are completely incapable of human respect in public service. Looking at the reviews, clearly I'm not the only one with the experience. This is the 2nd time I've called and had the service agent hang up on me. The least they can do is spare my time and let me know they can't help me over the phone so I don't spend my break time trying to get in contact with a trace of human professionalism at a government agency.

Although it took almost an hour for them to answer the phone, after that everything was fast, they called me the next day for my appointment, and during the appointment everything was super fast, it only took about 10 minutes... happy happy... for me It was a very good experience ud83dude0a

The main SSA office said I should call the Walnut Creek office, because they would be able to expedite issuance of a replacement check. Worst mistake. They couldnu2019t have been less interested in assisting. After listening to statements like u201conly homeless people canu2019t get bank accountsu201d (wrong), and u201cwho said we could help?u201d The person went ahead and started a process, without my input, that is delaying my payment for even longer than if I hadnu2019t contacted this branch at all. Recommendation: train your employees to deal with the general public in a more respectful and productive way. We pay their salaries after all.

Been trying to contact them for a week to make an appointment. Never was able to get on the phone with them, constantly hanging up. Even waited an hour once on hold before they hang up on me. Absolutely abhorrent behavior.

Needed help with a pending application. Called Walnut Creek Office on Monday 10/25/21 and waited about 20 minutes. (Not bad during open enrollment). Talked with Joshua about the urgency of my issue. He was understanding and he said issue could be fixed as soon as Wednesday. All was resolved on 10/26/21.

I waited on hold for over an hour and a half. I never was able to reach a live person. This is (very Bad) customer server. Then the Office closed at 4 pm. This is not good customer service at all.

As important as this place is, yu2019all need to provide better answers for customers. Why arenu2019t your hours up??

Sure, the wait time can be bad but I had to call the Walnut Creek office several times and I received courtesy and competence from every person there. In fact, I would go further and say I received exemplary service and I felt the people at the office were going out of their way to help me. I wish Iu2019d gotten all their names but one I know for sure is Mrs. Dominguez and she is a rockstar!! Also, Madison. They all were wonderful and deserve recognition for their public service. Thank you, Walnut Creek social security office!!

even the phone number listed on the websoite is bad. Our tax dollars at rest.

Simply Horrible!nThey lost my application for part B Medicare. I sent and faxed 3 times asking to start Medicare on Feb 1. I highlighted the date.nThey still charged me for 2 months before that when my employer still was paying for my insurance. There is no way to get my money back.nnThis is not acceptable.

The rudest and most condescending people you'll ever come into contact with. I didn't even finish my first sentence before thecustomer serviceperson cut me off, and it went downhill from there, ending with him hanging up on me when I called him out on his uncalled-for rude behavior. Call a different office if you actually need to get something done.

Horrible and nightmarish experience. They lost my marriage license and never shipped it back to me in April and their excuse was lockdown. Asked me to send SS-5 form 4 times (Yes I filled that form 4 different times and shipped it within a matter of 6 months) and each time they reject my document and send me a rejection letter.nnI was told on the phone in August to send my Passport, new SS-5 form and scanned copy of Marriage license (because they lost the original). They again sent me a reject letter with my Passport.nnI called them in Sep, and asked what was missing and they advised me to address a cover letter to Mrs. Byers and send original copy of Marriage Certificate. I explained to them that they lost my marriage license therefore all I could send was Marriage Certificate. Then again I received a letter on Dec 3, that they cannot accept a souvenir document and they never returned my Marriage Certificate.nnThe lady on the phone said they don't even have a scanned copy of my documents at all.nnI have mailed them the following original copies with SS-5 form:n- Original Marriage Licensen- Original Marriage Certificaten- Original PassportnnAt this point, I have lost faith in this office as they keep losing my original documents and keep lying. They have discriminated my request to have my last name changed due to marriage because of my ethnicity and the fact that I am an immigrant. I am filing complaint for the review process of social security decision at US Courts.

Very rude employees, especially during this pandemic. Constantly being hung up on by the same guy not sure why he is the only one ansewing the phone. One time he even yelled at me claiming he didnu2019t u201chear me.u201d

The costumer service is zero they donu2019t work well if they donu2019t solve ur issues or ur questions they hang up the phone, I requested to correct my name they did not reason about 2 months they lost my original documents and also the guards are really rude no one care I called the put me on hold for 39 minutes then the agent discount the phone.

Well I came here without an appointment and had gotten here at approximately 8:30 am. There was a security guard there who also kinda works as a person for answers to quick questions upon arrival. He got me started by pointing me in the right direction, to the input kiosk, after entering the main door.nI entered my name in the computer and answered a few questions and then proceeded to sit down after getting a place in the queue. I was expecting to be here a while, but to my surprise was called within fifteen minutes at the most. I have now been here a few times and can happily say it's a good experience for a government agency.nYou are given a reminder that Americans are of many nationalities here because those people mainly here were either older and on social security or those that spoke English not as there first language.

Didn't even wanna give one star and that is a rare from me but kept me on hold forever and then hang up on me. I call back and sayCall Backand they put me on hold for 1 hour and 15 minutes like it says every time I call. Keep me holding my phone up for longest time when I had a less than 5 minute question to ask. Horrible wait time in person even with a appointment. They ignore you when you bring up important information pertaining your case and wanna rush through other stuff you have already gone through. The auto-mated system does not record what you are saying and goes on with its protocol. Wish I could use other choice words but I will keep this G-rated!
    Ekaterina Grischenko
It is impossible to schedule an appointment by phone. The employees are incompetent. When they don't know the answer they just hang up the phone.
    Angie S
Rude, extended wait times over an hour and half, then your rushed with your question. Don't want to help, I guess they have to meet there quota of callsn-Lack of customer service reps willing to help.

I called about my mother's social security application, and I spoke with who I can only describe as aspecialgentleman. He had no answers, and sounded like he hated his life and job. His favorite line appears to be,Sir, you are not understanding me, sirwhile providing no helpful answers. Probably a worse experience than the DMV, and that's saying something.

It was busy but a lot of boomers are starting to reach retirement age. Only thing was I scheduled an appointment in WC and the main SS customer service number had no record of it so they gave me a later appointment in May. The main office is on EST so it's hard to catch them even though the person i spoke with was in Seattle. I was sure i had one in April but couldn't get through to Walnut Creek office. I made it almost a year ago so I figured it was not in the system anymore. Now I have to start a month later! The Seattle rep was great but I guess their systems don't talk to each other. the person at the main SS number said for what i had to do I needed to make an appointment since it was more complicated and better done in person. Then I got a recording that I missed my appointment from the WC office! I guess they do not coordinate with the main office that they always tell us to call.

Not enough windows/ agents to keep it going. Every time it was at least 90 minutes or more. There is a wait for a triage and then another wait for the agent who may help and resolve your issue. Overall, not as bad as DMV but expect to spend more time in there than you think.
    EOS 5
I called 6 times, left a message to change my appointment to my day off, never got a call back from the person which her name was on the letter I received.nnTotal irresponsible, they do not have any regards for people life and work obligations.nnZero star does not exist on this review otherwise I would have checked it or even betternegative pointswould have described their response more accuratly.
    Rajeev Kuikel
Worst SSA ever! Returns all the documents sent without any proper explanation or next steps. When we call them, the call gets disconnected on its own.
