I had an excellent experience with the San Marcos Social Security Office. I spoke with Michelle who was knowledgable, friendly and patient (lots of questions). The issues with the 1 star reviews seem fixed as this office and Michelle, in particular, were fantastic.

I called to ask about signing up for Medicare. I waited about 1 minute on hold then a nice lady got me all signed up in about 5 minutes. I was flabbergasted that it was so easy and fast!

Social security office is the worst! @socialsecurityoffice been trying to talk to someone for past 7 days from 8am to 4pm . No one answered... where is everyone?

There are no employees taking the calls. I have been calling the office here at Hemet, CA 92592 for 3 weeks now and yet the person handling my case has not returned my call yet. It 's always automated machines answers the call where you can't get the right selection to be able to speak with a live representative.

This covid government thing is a mess. The security guard is awesome, and we'll informed. One of the employees I spoke to on the phone was pleasant. However the fact that you can drink at a bar and eat a restaurant in the current covid-19 situation baffles me why an important office like this is closed. Five stars for the security guard and the woman I spoke with on the phone.

Drove 30 mine to get here only to find 10 people calling the phone number left on the door. I called the number and they said they aren't even taking appointments. Would have been nice if they updated maps to tell you they where closed. Or at least have a more detailed note on the door. Amazing how many people time are getting wasted by this people are still pulling in as I write this review.

Great service and very quick to answer. Used the San Marcos web site to see when they are busy on the phone or not, and got in within 5 minutes. Very professional and quick phone call.

Every time I have called they have been friendly and fast. This is my favorite office Iu2019ve ever felt with. Theyu2019re not grumpy or rude like the ones down in San Diego. If you live further away theyu2019re worth driving to.

Agent name Brett does not know how to speak in a professional manner from the start of answering the phone to answering my inquiries. If I wanted your opinion if my u201cCaseu201d was an emergency, I would have asked you Brett. In this case, I asked if the office was taking appointments only regardless the case. Pleasentalk to your customers in a more professional and respectful manner. If you choose not to, why work in this field.

Rude employees nasty attitude. Useless people with no clientele experience.

I went on a Friday at 2:30 pm without an appointment to get my name changed. I was in and out in 50 minutes. The security person was very nice. Check in was easy. I was called by the lady behind window 3. She was also very friendly, helpful and efficient.nThank you!nGreat experience.

I found the attendants to be helpful, friendly and quick. The waiting room was fairly full, yet I was out in 45 minutes. I had read reviews about the problem making appointments, so I asked and was told that you can only make appointments for an initial sign up (we were discussing medicare) for all subsequent issues you cannot make appointments.

A lady Miranda is very rude and was arguing over us. She was also very unprofessional and rude too.

Was here 3 times and had very mixed experiences. A very clear and competent Lady at my second visit.nReally horrible experience on my third visit:nI came to drop off paperwork and have a remaining question answered. The clerk at the window was able to kind of answer my question but inadvertently handed me back the most important papers he was supposed to keep. I only noticed right after I left, outside the office. Went back in and they made me check in again, pull a number and wait my term again, even though I explained two clerks that I had been here literally 4 minutes before.nCompletely unmotivated employees, unprofessional and rude

I've worked with two people at the San Marcos office, and have communicated with one person via email in an office in a different location. I read reviews on this site calling the workers here rude and lazy. I'd like to offer a tip: If you are courteous, greet the one who is helping you with a smile, and come prepared for your appointment, you will be treated the same way. Everyone I have interacted with who works for the social security administration has gone out of their way to be helpful, and they have done it with a smile. Lighten up guys - these people sit here all day dealing with the same problems over and over. It's a tough job. Be nice. If you want to experience lousy service, I suggest you spend a good 3 or 4 hours at the DMV waiting, only to be greeted by someone who couldn't care less about you. THAT's lousy service!

I had occasion to visit SS office due to my husband's death. While I live closer to Oceanside office, I'm afraid to go there because of the area and people who hang around outside. Try as I might, I could not get through on the telephone to make an appointment anywhere, so I chose to go to San Marcos office. Without an appointment, I walked in, spoke with the officer behind the front desk, D. Simmons I believe, and he understood why I was there and had a person at window 2 call me quickly. I turned in the completed paperwork from the internet and I was in and out in 15-20 minutes. Thank you for your efficiency and help.

Horrible experience with the lady behind window #13! We needed information about retirement and Medicare and she was so rude to us. Her words to us,Now you wasted your entire today to come here and wasted my time...because we did not have documents. She did not have to be that mean. We wanted more info so that we will be ready next time but she cut us off saying that her appointment is here and our 5 minute time was up. So we started all over again with a new number and waited to be seen by someone else and finally the gentleman behind window #12 was able to answer our questions and prepared us for our next visit.

We had no complaints. No appointment. . .seen within 15 minutes, handed them the correct and completed forms. . .and were on our way. Staff person helping us was very nice. Got back the correct info (Medicare B enrollment) within 2 weeks.

During my visit I found the San Marcos Office staff to be very courteous, efficient and helpful. There was a wait but certainly not excessive. The security guard was most helpful and polite -not only to me but from my observations to all. My suggestion to visitors, be prepared. Go online and do your research beforehand, and then bring all necessary documents needed to conduct your particular business.

I was lucky I retired 2018 now you canu2019t even get a live person to answer the phone to make a appointment CALL your congressman first and bend his ear

I called an agent and she was so rude, she kept talking and sounded she wanted to end the call. When I asked her let me ask a question then she hung up the call. OMG! I wish someone has power to stop these agents like this one!
    Felicity Cribbs
The workers and the guard up front were all very friendly, and I was in and out within 20 minutes. AND I went in during the lunch hour time. All Iu2019ve got to say is the SS office is MUCH better than the DMV. :)
    Summer Harris
I really hope I help someone from wasting their time like I did. Went into this office for a new social security card to change my name after getting married. That was a painless process. However, when they gave me the receipt for the name change, they told me I could take that to the DMV to get the name and address change on my license. 1hr 30mins later the DMV tells me that I canu2019t do it because it canu2019t be verified. It takes 24-48 hours. This office failed to inform me of this little bit of information and cost me my time. So if youu2019re getting your name changed, donu2019t listen to their misinformation. Make an appointment with the DMV for the next week or wait until you get your new SSC.

Wow super fast! We got in and out withing 30 minutes of a walk in non appointment. Security was friendly as well as the lady who assisted us! All that anxiety for nothing! Made our day just delightful!

I realize that the people who work here are underpaid, hate their jobs, and just want you to go away, however, they should at the very least use the Golden Rule of customer service. I had an appointment set up for one month and arrived on time only to be directed to the wrong ladyin a black sweater.Heaven forbid, I missed thecorrect lady in a black sweater.I was made to feel like a criminal, with yes, you guessed it, all the folks in the waiting room getting their fill of drama for the 9 o'clock AM hour. And to top it off, and here's the kicker, I told them that this was the first time I'd been to this office, and LISA, who was thelady in the black sweaterthat I should've gone to first STATED THAT I HAD BEEN IN THE OFFICE THE DAY BEFORE! Wow, what a terrible thing to say to a person who's flustered and anxious about doing everything correctly and then to made a mockery of. Needless to say, I was not in the office the day before. It was a terrible terrible experience today and I will attempt to never go back! And the worst part is, I'm 63, I've been working since I was 16, and this is my money that I put into this system. And as a taxpayer I (help to) pay their salaries and retirement and they treat you like S***!!!

Had a great experience, despite having to wait 45 minutes. The security officer was knowledgable and helpful, amd got us checked in. The person at window 2 was pleasant, knowledgable, and helped us with 4 different requests all in 15 minutes. This was my first vist to the office, but comparatively, it is as roomy as any busy gov office. I wish SSA would take online appts, but that is a minor inconvenience.

Walked into Social security office and got a ticket, then went in Line 1. I was then tapped on the shoulder from behind and the security guard very loud and rudely asked me and my wife if we knew how to read. Everyone in the line was very shocked and I responded by asking him why he asked that question. He then pointed to a sign and asked me and my wife again of we knew how to read. Not only was he being very disrespectful, he then made a scene in front of everyone pointing at the sign on the front and told us to wait outside, after I already received my ticket and in line. The line wasn't even long at all and there was no one in front of the door when I walked on the door, so I figured I should walk inside like everyone else did. When I walked in the door the first time, a lady standing in line EVEN told me to grab a ticket and stand in line behind her. I feel very disreprected as me and my wife both graduated college with degrees. Honestly who does the security guard think he is that he can just walk up to people and treat them so unfairly. Instead of doing his job and standing by the door like he was supposed to, he was in the back of the social security office goofing off and laughing with another person. If he wants people to wait outside and wait to be escorted inside of the social security office, then he should be standing at the door at all times and not in the back goofing off.
