I called several times to make an appointment and they just never pick up. Sometimes the call goes through like someone will pick up but then the call is dropped. I went down twice and the first time no one was there despite the sign and website that said they were open for two more hours. The second time was even more frustrating, the guy at the desk refused to come to the door and just kept pointing to the sign that said I needed to make an appointment! You might ask why don't you just make an account and do everything on line? Well, the system wouldn't let me make an account because there was an input error by the SSA. The system then noted that I'd have to go in person to my local SSA office. How many catch 22s is that? SSA, get your act together.

I work with many international clients relocating to SF and this office if by far the best in the area. Very nice employee's, even during the 2+ years of being closed. Other area offices are a nightmare..

I went to the office twice and they didnu2019t let me in and when I call them for appointment, they dont pick up the phone for hours and if they do they want you to send them your original documents which is not safe in SF these days. The Social security offices are showing as open on maps and on the door (in contradiction with other signage) when it is in fact closed - the agent contacted via phone was unable to give an estimated date for the reopening to the public.nThe hours on Google maps should be updated to closed!

Very nice and helpful staff.I had no appointment , showed up at 9 am , got number A 40 but less than 10 minutes waiting time, they called my number.nThe young lady was very nice , gave me all the answers that i needed and less than 10 minutes i completed my mission. Amazing! They are very efficient and friendly. The doors opened slightly before 9am to get a cache of people checked in so the clerks could start processing people as soon as possible. I did not have an appointment but only waited 30 minutes!nnThe clerks were all bilingual in English and Cantonese (probably knew more Chinese languages). They called every number in Cantonese as well as English, which I think is very considerate.nnNice clean bathrooms.nnConveniently located only a few blocks from Montgomery BART/muni-metro station.

After 6/15, I thought SSA office is reopened.nBut they are not full open, only appointment.nI called the office for appointment , SSA office is federal, so office is not full open. Open for only limited people ( depending on why need to visit to the office)nUnfortunately I have to wait until full open day.

Nice quick service. No need to come early. The line moves pretty fast. Check-in is straight forward via kiosk that gives you a number. I came in the morning before opening. But after 15 min I was free to go. Great experience!

I am sure we have all heard horror stories of bad experiences when dealing with government bureaus so was surprised at how nice this place was. The office opened a few minutes before 9 to accommodate the queue of people. Wait wasn't very long and the staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient. Office is close to China town hence they handle both languages too.

The system is simple when you get to the office, you take a number and you are in, but the wait time is excruciating long. I'm not sure how anyone would make it in and out in 15 min. My wait time is estimated at 1 hr! When I tried calling to make an appointment, the wait time to make an appointment over the phone was 45 min.! I guess it would be good to know what is the best time to arrive to this office.

Arrived at 9:40am with no appt on a Friday. Finished ( name change) at 10:20am. Agent was efficient and courteous. One word of caution, make sure you have no sharp object with you. Security made us dispose a pair of scissors outside...no disposal in the receptacle in the building allowed.

Mostly people from chinatown or somehow related. There are both english and chinese written texts on the wall, as well as the announcements.nUsually crowded, so consider 20 to 30 minutes waiting time.nPhotography and taking videos are prohibited.
