I have called the Redding, California branch requesting a copy of my benefits award letter, but the SSA won't deliver. I spoke to a woman on the phone and made the first request on December 1. She told me that the letter would arrive in the mail in ten days. It never did. I then called back on January 1 and had to deal with the automated system, which assured me that the letter would arrive in seven days. It never did. I called again today (1/18/22), and spoke with a woman, and she offered to email me the letter, I even supplied two different email Addresses, and clearly explained the spelling. She asked me to wait about fifteen minutes. It never arrived. This is unbelievable incompetence and unacceptable. Lastly, none of this would have happened if they had the local office open. They are acting extreme, fanatical, and inconsistent (since the Chico office is open). This doesn't make any sense. Update: On 1/19/22 I spoke on the phone with a Social Security office member, and was notified that they do not email or fax award letters. I was told that the woman who said she would email me the letter gave wrong information, and that she was probable new. Sorry, but this is unacceptable incompetence.

This place is worthless. They're still closed from COVID despite the Chico, CA office being open. Their phone, for as long as I can remember, will put you on hold for literally hours, and as of 3/17/2022, literally doesn't even work anymore. It won't put you on hold, it will just disconnect you if you can even manage to get it to ring. They're as slow as it gets, they haven't even scanned in paperwork that was submitted over a month ago. They need intervention and to be restructured, whoever is running the place is incompetent.

Since they closed their doors due to Covid, they must have thrown away their phones. I never get a human, the phone rings with intermittent messages then after a while it just rings straight on until you hang up in frustration. Very disappointing to those in need of critical assistance.

I have called 2 times recently and the first call i got through too a person and she had to transfer my call to scheduling and instead of transferring me I got hung up on and they never called me back. I made a 2nd attempt to call them back and I was on hold an hour and they picked up the phone and immediately hung up without saying a single word!!!!!!!

Canu2019t see anyone in person without an appointment. So I call to make an appointment and Iu2019ve been on hold since 9:00 am (3 hours) I drove down there to see if anyone was physically in the building, which they are. I am confused why I must wait 3+ hours to talk to anyone at all... kind of a joke.

Wectum, did you seriously complain that they don't have WiFi? This would only be a concern to a cell phone addict. It is not the responsibility of Social Security to pander to peoples passions and addictions.nnDear Social Security Office, Why don't you have someone answer the phone when I call? The phone rings endlessly. This is very incompetent and unprofessional. I can't reach anyone on the phone when I call the Redding, CA office. I was recently on hold listening to the music for 18 minutes, then told by the automated system that they would try to connect me with someone, then I was transferred and the phone rang incessantly for 10 minutes. I got tired of waiting and hung-up. Further, you no longer provide the option for call back. Is there a reason for this? You need to answer the phone, and open the local office again. You are making things too difficult for people. Enough of this fanaticism. Open the local office! And why is the Chico office open, but not the Redding one? Why the inconsistency? So, I called back a second time today and went through the same routine. But this time, at five minutes, there was suddenly silence, with no explanation. This place is incompetent. I can't reach anyone.

I have always been treated very well here for the most part. But I did talk to 1 person in particular who was very rude(when the call wasn't being recorded). I was hung up on twice. I called back the first time and they said they thought I was done asking questions. Well...I wasn't. The second time I knew that it was their way to just hang up. No goodbye, is there anything else, nothing. Click. But for the most part they are very heplful and always answer my questions.

This review is specifically for the person who wasn't feeling well today but was still super helpful & professional. I wish I had caught his name. Just wanted to thank him without tying up the phone to do so. Your suggestion of the best way to get a replacement card when I lost my whole wallet worked like a charm. Thank you!

Naomi Shipp is the best! She goes above and beyond to help with any and all questions so people have a greater understanding of any process they may be required to complete applications or for cdr's. Amazingly awesome lady and very knowledgeable of the processes. Thank you Naomi! You made my experience with your office so much easier and understandable.

My experience here today was top notch. I had an appointment, went in only 5 minutes early, took a number sat down and 5 minutes later, my name was called. We were helped by Rick?, a very gracious soft spoken man, who was polite, knowledgeable and helpful. He solved our problem and has us on our way inside of 20 minutes. Best experience in a government office, ever. Give that man a raise!

You have to wait in line for a long time super inefficient went to get up there and have everything ready to go it's a cakewalk but until you get up to that point it's a pain in the ass I mean whoever heard of working for what's four to six hours at a time can't even make a decent living like that and what like 3 or 4 times per week
    John Lavine
Safe secure and nice clean and very quick . not a long wait at all.
    Miss Lynn
The workers are very disrespectful and unprofessional say things to people that they should not and do not need to say I believe we need workers who understand people and where they come from who will have more hospitality and who are kind who don't judge a book by a cover and actually listen to what they have to say.
    Robin Terrace
Good office, friendly staff. Much better than the the 'victimsyou speak with in Oakland. What is with people
    Micheal Gordon
Not efficient by any means. In true government style, take simple requests and complicate the heck out of them.
