Awesome experience here! The guard and staff are pretty professional and friendly!nnCurrently, they just accept appointment only, so need to call the number, wait from a few minutes until someone answered the call, guard allows person come in only within 5 minutes to the appointment. The place is super clean, need to provide the form, driver license and green card to update ssn. It takes about 5 minutes to finish everything.

The staff and security officer are efficient and give clear instruction. The security officer did an amazing job and managed the logistics very well. I had been to a different SSA office before but the experience at this office is much better. I am glad I have moved to this city.

Updating the rating from 1/5 to 4/5. My experience was infuriating, hence the 1 star rating, but my wife's experience was fantastic.nnHere is my experience:nThis center provides a classic example of how not to run an IVR. Since about 9:30 AM today, which is a normal weekday, I have calledthisoffice twice for an in-person visit appointment. The first time I called them, they used a peculiar pattern which fools even the Google Assistant'shold for mefeature. During the hold, music would play for a few minutes and then the IVR wouldpretendwith a few rings that it is dispatching the call to an agent, but within a few more seconds it will go back to playing the music again. After about 20 minutes, it would ditch that deception and thrust you into a blackhole of continuous rings. I hung up after more than 30 minutes.nnI called again soon after and this time the pattern repeated, but the ending was a bit different. After 20 minutes, the blackhole of continuous rings started, but at about 22:30 minutes, the IVR took over and announced that all the agents are busy and it disconnected the call.nnThis is a pretty bad situation. I can't apply for my wife's SSN online and the only way to visit the office is via an appointment which they would not give.nnWife's experience:nShe got the appointment in her first call. It was for the next day. When we reached, the security officer behaved very professionally. We did not have any wait time and the entire processing was complete in 10 minutes. It was smooth as can be. The SSN card arrived in about a week.nnIn summary: They have horrible IVR which should be fixed or they should hand out appointments via their website.

My experience at the office itself was excellent. Even though I arrived 12 minutes late for my appointment, they made the effort to squeeze me in anyway, and took care of my application efficiently and courteously.nnMoreover, the security guard at the door was very helpful giving tips to others who needed an appointment how to go about getting one. As he told them, the difficult part is getting hold of this office by phone in the first place to make the appointment. Indeed, the first time I tried, I would be put on hold for several minutes and then disconnected, and this happened repeatedly (I think I tried four or five times). I was only able to get through when I tried again on a different day. The security guard, though, explained why this was: the office, instead of using a hold system, picks up the next incoming call as soon as they're finished with the previous one. So the *right strategy is to hang up as soon as one hears the hold music and immediately call again*, and keep calling until one gets through. u2014 It's a shame that the office doesn't have a working hold system (I assume this is a budget issue that's out of their control), but I'm glad they're at least proactive in helping people work around it.

NO help from this Fremont office whatsoever. They shouldn't have this fake misleading greeting to say your call will be answered. After waiting for 15 mins of listening to the music and 5 minutes of silence, the call would drop by 20 mins. How do you help customers if you can't call, talk to someone, and the office isn't open? They have had my brother's SSI fund for more than six months, and they have been ignoring calls, letter, and messages from the national 800 number. The office said they would mail the checks, but they haven't. To this day, I'm still trying to advocate for my brother to get his SSI.

Really poor service - I guess what else to expect out of govt. My wife got cut off in the middle of a conversation - the person who helped her was very rude. They dont answer phones and keep you on hold for a long time and phone cuts off. If there was less than 1 star, I would have given it.

This location needs fixing. My father-in-law arrived month and a half-ago on immigrant visa. We had applied for his SSN on form DS-260 which means his SSN, card should have automatically been processed upon his arrival and mailed to him within three weeks. Now, its close to impossible to find out when he will get it. The guard and supervisor onsite are rude and have turned away my wife twice, saying that an appointment is needed, whereas when you call them, they hang up; tried multiples times on different weekdays, different times to no avail.

Because it is a very mandated building right now so appointment only you have to call the field office not the national number and then after a long long time of waiting you'll eventually talk to someone and if they can help you over the phone they will if not they'll make an appointment but right now do not just go there you will be turned down

The SSA website and phone line both say appointments can be made to come in during the pandemic if they are necessary. What they don't tell you is that those are ONLY if you are applying for a new card. Legal name and/or gender change? Tough luck.nnNot only did the employee on the line misgender me multiple times, I was also told I would have to wait two weeks or more just to drop off my documents, including personal identification THAT I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT TO HAVE MAILED BACK TO ME. It's pretty flipping NECESSARY to have my driver's license with me, guys!

Just went to drop off a letter, I was told I need an appointment. Really? Then the guy tells me to go to San Leandro, because they are smarter and you do not need an appointment to stick a letter in a box. go figure. Is this our major's decision? If so, lets get rid of her.

I applied for retirement benefit and have provided all necessary documents. The SSA website says it usually takes 2-4 weeks to process. However, my application has been more than 10 weeks and still pending!

I went in without an appointment at the height of the day and was seen in one hour by an extremely kind, gentle and professional person named Rich. He got my replacement social security card ordered within two minutes and even unblocked my online account and set me up with one since the site was having issues with setting mine up. My card arrived in approximately three business days after being quote 2-3 weeks! A blessed experience and we are praying for all those that are withering and ignorant of the healing and eternal life that is in Christ Jesus that we saw in the office.

The security guard out front is great! He really helps set a positive mood. Wait time, with no appointment was about an hour on a Monday morning. The workers are all patient and the the gentleman who took care of me was great!

Messed up my address and took 2 months to get a social security card sent to me. I called in almost weekly, 6 times in total and every time the rep would brush me aside saying it's on the way, just keep waiting. Wasn't until I reached rep Zoe who proactively looked up and figured they mistook my address city and immediately issued a resend. I finally got the card in 6 days following the fixed problem. The extra star is for Zoe only - for the reps who never even tried to help you should go back to basic entry level training.

Today i visited this office around 9.45am in the morning. My waiting time was about 15 mins and then i was called. The gentlemen provided the service for us was really nice and friendly. He was really calm and asked me my requirement and proceeded from there. So, within 45 mins i could complete my total requirement. It was really nice experience for me. I did not hear any rude conversations at all on this office and every body seemed to be nice.

Why is there no option to give a 0 star? Because of the lady from window 1, who messed up with my last name after my marriage, I had to wait for 3 months and spent $800 for the whole process in the court to receive the order for a name change. And guess what? In 3 months she asked for my immigration document and after making the copy of it, she decided to submit for the verification of my status from the immigration office. My questions are:n1. Why didnu2019t she ask for the verification when she made changes for the first time? BTW, I already had my SSN card with my old name and all the info regarding my legal status in the US had to be in the system (they asked for a proof during my very first visit).n2. Why did another representative tell me that after I bring the court order of the name change, they would quickly make changes with no additional headache during my next visit and I would receive my card in 2 weeks?n3. If the lady from the same window 1, who I saw during my third visit, found all the info in the system and had the original document from USCIS, why did she decide to make me wait from February? And again, there is no progress by now. And itu2019s almost June.n4. How the hell should I live knowing that I have my SSN card with invalid name especially during the pandemic period?n5. And who will be responsible for the miscarriage that I had a month ago because of the stress that she gave me?nnAnd the worst thing that NOONE from the Fremont office can do anything to resolve the issue that appeared by their mistake. I am broken.

I just called in this morning, the person on the phone was very rude. She was raised her voice with me and she did not listen my concern then she hung up my phone. Whoever manage this office needs to tell your employees to provide good customer services.
    Sheau Chen
No one pick-up the phone for more than 30 minutes hold time. Not even a hold music, not sure the phone even work, then the line just get disconnected. Most of the phone system would update you the wait time or call back option. This is the worst customer service experience ever.
    alagu meena
Went to apply for a new SSN card. You have a kisok machine to generate a ticket/token based on your purpose of this visit. You have enough space to sit. No need to wait in long queue system. The staff are gentle and treat with respect. I got my work done in 2 hours. Very good service!!!!

the office and its employees seems to know what they are doing; in reality they don't, this applied to both the local and general office.nmy mother passed away late last summer of 2019; the social office took both my mother and living father from the face of this earth and consider them both dead, creating a big mess for may father, stopped his medicare and medical, i called at visited the local office in Fremont more than 7 times, every single time they take more info and told me not to worry the issue is fixed. The medical bill kept going up. then i went to social service office and spend another day to correct the problem from that end; i was SS office often makes these mistakes, but i was assured this time the issue has been resolved. Two weeks i receive a notice that my father was taken off the medical insurance completely. I now have to start all over again, withZEROconfidence the issue will be resolved. This agency deserveZEROstar for the stress they created for my father and my family. We are good citizens serving our country, and we deserve to be treated likewise. I hope someone higher up in this agency read and investigate these public matters and fix them.
