This place is ridiculous. I've been trying to speak with someone for months and every time I call I get put on hold for almost 30 minutes (which I understand they're busy) but when they do answer THEY HANG UP ON ME. Before I even get the chance to speak or after only saying a few words. I've managed to talk to someone, and not get hung up on, twice. That's it out of dozens and dozens of times that I've called. I always make sure to be incredibly polite to these people so they're not hanging up on me for being rude or anything they just evidently don't want to deal with people. It's so frustrating.

6 weeks since I applied for a social security number and they still haven't processed my case...it's supposed to take 2-4 weeks max! Good luck if you want to have someone on the phone and when you get someone, there is nothing they can do. I regret so much going there and now I cannot work because of them.

I applied for a social security number 5 weeks before my visa expiration and check my mail box everyday. After two weeks, I called them and they told me just to wait. I waited until my visa expired and call them again, they told me to go to SSA again. When I got there, they told me my visa is expired and I canu2019t get an SSN until my green card is made. I think these guys are irresponsible and good at making troubles. We have many issues about tax and DL without SSN and we have to spend much more money and time to fix them. I really regret to choose this SSA !

Very very difficult to get ahold of by phone. I would call multiple times a week for months at a time and the majority of the time no one would answer but when they did answer 90% of the time I would be hung up on. I finally was able to get an appointment and going in there they were very sweet and straight to the point with me.

After a 5 year battle with the social security admin about an overpayment of 10k from 20 years ago when I was a minor child we were able to get a fantastic result. Renee from the SS office was my advocate and worked so hard on my behalf. I cannot thank her enough. Thank you!

I am not sure how the process is when physically there, but when calling in...expect a really frustrating experience. I called last week and left a message and didn't receive a call back.nnI called twice today, waited through their unnecessary recording that cannot be bypassed. Finally figured out what options to press (the way the recording gave options for pressing numbers was confusing). Waited on hold for about 25 minutes, listening to static and annoying music, and then it hung up on me. Called back a second time, and after about 22 minutes it started ringing. After 8 minutes of non stop ringing I hung up again. I cannot get ahold of someone to help me, and I'm beyond frustrated.nnJust give me an option to record my phone number and call me back when you're ready. Many other places do this. Your phone service is especially not friendly to neurodivergent people.

The agent is so ridiculous. I am waiting on the phone more than an hour. I ask questions for her. She doesnu2019t answer me clearly. She hung up the phone on me.

I have to share how wonderful the staff at this office are. The office is closed; however, I decided to see if someone might be there or if they had a drop box, as I did not want to mail original important documents they required to see for my Medicare application. Will, a staff member who just happened to be there at that time, was so kind to a couple of us standing outside the locked door wondering what to do. He came to the door to see what we needed, checked out our originals compared to copies (I already had copies) and accepted them! He was so nice about it, and now I don't have to worry about SS receiving them, or getting lost in the mail, etc.! Thank you Will!nnAlso, thank you to the people who answer the phone - both times I called, so helpful!

I regret coming to this SS office to process my name change! Originally came here because of the decent reviews and they had a drop box offered so we donu2019t have to mail in sensitive documents. Itu2019s been 4 weeks since I dropped my documents with application off at the drop box and it STILL HAS NOT been electronically processed as having been received!!! It is unacceptable that the SSA does not handle personal documents in a prompt manner. Covid canu2019t be used as an excuse for inefficiency. I called in multiple times and the last time, the lady I spoke with (Ms. Munley?) said that the office was closed (on a NONA-HOLIDAY WEEKDAY) and no one can confirm whether or not they have my documents. DO NOT COME TO THIS SS OFFICE!!

Currently only offer service by phone, but after the long and dreadful automated steps, the phone rang twice and tell you that they busy and hang up. No queue, nothing, waited outside in the parking lot for an hour and constantly calling, no one pick up the phone.

I went on a Tuesday and got there at 3:35PM en route to the post office, just on the off chance I could squeeze in before they closed at 4. The security guard that greeted me was so friendly, he politely asked if he could check my bag and guided me to the machine to get my number. The man that helped me change my name was also so incredibly friendly! I was in and out of there by 4PM, no problem at all. After getting married and hearing about what a pain it is to change your name, this was definitely a great experience!

Called the Fountain Valley office. Live person available almost immediately. Answered my questions, Agreed to mail needed form today. Very courteous and efficient. I was amazed at the terrific service. Thank you so much!!

Security guard awesome.nMs. L who was helping me sign up for Medicare rushed me like a bat out of you know what. Expected me to know precisely what to sign up for Parts A and B without asking many questions. That's not right. If you can't ask them, who the heck are you supposed to ask? That's totally within their scope. She was in too much of a hurry. Thank God I made the correct split second decision. No thanks to her. Plus, she was obviously dismayed I made an appointment at their office rather than one closer to me.

You stand in line just to get in the room, this takes from 15 to 30 minutes. You sign in on an electronic kiosk and fill out the white form location on shelf on far side of room from kiosk and then wait not longer than 20 minutes. For a government office it's pretty fast and easy.

Terrible that the phone number provided is for the National Office. Told that I would have to go in person to get a tax form for my dead father. When I asked if there was a number I could call to reach the FV office, I was told to wait and then was hung up on. HORRIBLE!! THis was after waiting ONE hour to talk to someone about the form I need WHICH I WAS TOLD THEY WILL NOT SEND OUT UNLESS REQUESTED AT THE LOCAL OFFICE. I will now have to take a day off work to get this form. Thanks a lot.

Filed an application on line last night. They had received it already by this morning. They aren't open to the public but I called this morning and the woman answering the phone was excellent and answered all of my questions. Very impressed.

I came into Newhope SSA office last week for submission of my wife's identity papers. The security guy/ receptionist was polite and quick serviced. The office was quiet in a comfortable working environment. I onl had to wait for 2 minutes, then my matter was solved quickly in a friendly way. (I had had to wait for 3 hrs in a DMV office the week before last). The only setback: the speaker needs replaced. I and another man could not tell if it said our number or another. I would rate five stars plus for a government office like the Newhope, Fountain Valley, CA SSA office.

The security guard and guy at the window were awesome. I went to the Mission Viejo office and there was a line out the door just to CHECK IN. Drove here and they got me right in and DONE in 15 minutes. Iu2019d still be standing outside! Thanks for being here guys.

After a 20 wait on hold the phone just rings and rings. No one answers. I waited 10 minutes of the phone just ringing. Why do they say that they're open? Waste of my time.

Youu2019ll be greeted by a kind security, served by a great and efficient staff. More importantly, you wonu2019t spend much time on waiting. I arrived at 9am, and get it done by 9.50 am.

Easy process. The security guard is so great. I dont know how he keeps such a great attitude with such confusion. Not that the process is confusing. People make it a bit harder on themselves I think. Even with the language barrier and people blatantly ignoring him he was friendly and helpful.

I live in Laguna Niguel and prefer to visit the office in Fountain Valley. Seems it is not as crowded and the people who work there are very nice, especially Officer Swook who is always very helpful in getting first time clients through the initial first steps.

I applied for ssn. So 3 weeks it was in status pending, then they sent it, but I didn't receive it (but they told me to wait 2 more weeks to ensure that it really was lost), and they even didn't provide tracking number for such important shipment. So, for now 38 days passed and I still without ssn, they told that I need to wait 2 weeks more.
