Due to COVID, regardless of shutdowns and mask mandates being lifted once again, they still donu2019t take walk ins, the only way to be seen is through appointment. To make an appointment you have to call the office number but itu2019s always on a busy tone or else call the social security nation helpline which will leave you waiting on hold for hours. Itu2019s going on three days now for me All in an effort to replace my child social security card. I canu2019t do it online either because the card is not for me.

I've used this social security office to handle family affairs over the past 4 years. It's well kept and clean. Get there first thing in the morning if you are a walk in because it gets pretty busy and the parking is limited. There is a metro bus and a local shuttle (Flair Dr shuttle) that drop off on the corner across from the office. You can catch the shuttle at the Metrolink station. Keep in mind that some days have shorter hours. When you arrive you will have to check in at an automated kiosk. It has several languages available for check in. You will then wait to check in with a clerk to state your business. Lastly, have a seat and listen for your name to be called. There are nice bathrooms on-site. Special note: you cannot talk on phones or listen to them out loud in the waiting area. They are extremely strict with that rule. Take headphones and step outside to speak.

I mean what do you expect from the government employees. They donu2019t care. They get paid no matter what. They donu2019t answer the phones. Try calling back and always a busy tone. No accountability so they just do the minimum (if that). Terrible office.

the lady that was attending me wanted a number that i was able to provide by printing it off my car, this would only take me 5 minutes. since they close at 4pm and it was 3:55 she told me it would take to long and would have to come back another day. i told her that since i was inside i should get serviced and she said that anybody that is inside past 4:00pm gets kicked out even if they have been waiting. I does not seem right i honestly feel like they were just trying to finish the day as soon as possible.

i was always intimidated by government establishments and i was worried with how long it would take me to get anything processed.nnFrom where i lived, i was between going to the one in El Monte, or the one in Pasadena. According to Google search, it tells me that the crowd in this one is not as much as the one in Pasadena, so i decided to come to the one in El Monte instead; it was slightly closer to me, too and much less traffic.nnParking here may be a little tight, but it cycles around pretty quickly, too.nnYou would be surprised about how quickly the process goes and how fast the line went. I came in for a name change, and it was over very promptly.nnSo this was the process for me - line up, when you get to the machine, just put in your social security number, and a receipt with your number would be dispensed. When you get your number, dont leave the line. Wait until you actually check in at one of the windows. You will just be asked what youre there for. I told them i was there for a name change - gave them my number, they gave it back, and i took a seat and waited for my number to be called. They will call you by name, too, sometimes. After that, its really just a matter of coming in prepared with you forms you need and the documents you have to prove you are who you are.

Iu2019m writing this review on the behalf of my dad. He visited this office to find assistance for his benefits without appointment and was directed to use the computer windows. He was directed to window #20 where a very helpful young man by the name of Mr.Cuevas was able to kindly guide him through and answer the many questions my dad had. My dad left feeling super appreciative. Thank you, Mr.Cuevas!

It was fast.. The staff was helpful. Window people were very polite.. I've went to other social security offices, and this one is by far the best one I've been to. Try to get here early, by 10:30 am it gets pretty hectic.

Last Friday (March 30, 2018), my wife, Mingchu, and I went to this office for application of withdrawal on her social security benefit and met with Ms. Sierra because we were told to wait for the office supervisor to call us since our last visit on February 22, 2018. She was so nice and patient to explain the whole process and help us submit the application. She even called us back today (April 2) to inform us we can pay back the paid social security benefit at this office and submit the application for spousal benefit when we receive the letter of conditional approval on the application of withdrawal. I wish every staff at the Social Security Administration is like Ms. Sierra. We appreciate her kindness and great job.

El Montes' office runs in a highly organized manner. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, helpful & above all courteous! I've been in this office on numerous ocassions, both as a Walk-in, and a Client with a previously made Appt. My SSI paperwork has always been processed accurately and explained to me in a careful, thorough manner. For this i'm grateful! Thkx

it's been 3 weeks since I requested a new social security card and the person that helped me has yet to process it. Her excuse was that she has been on vacation for the past 3 days but when I called the social security office I was told I was cleared weeks ago. This is gross negligence. this place deserves zero stars
