Don't go at lunch time. The agents seem to all take their lunch break at the same time, so we were sat waiting for an hour for them to get back from lunch. When they did return from lunch, things moved at a better speed. Total waste of our time though!nnSecurity guards were bilingual and helpful.

Try this office but jurisdiction problems since we live in Richmond. Employee answering consented to inform Richmond office of our need for appointment to get replacement card.nWe are hoping Richmond will give a callback for an interview.nThis person should be the model for all staffing.nHell, this person is worth a FIVE star!

I have tried to make an appointment repeatedly. The one time I actually got a human on the line, I was told that they do not give appointments. When I tried to explain why I need to come in in person the human hung up on me. Not sure what I can do to apply for my Social Security retirement since in my case the on line option is not available.

Can someone please pick up the phone call during business hours? Iu2019ve been waiting for hours and hours and there is no response. I really need to schedule an appointment to apply for an SSN.

DO NOT GO HERE. They rejected my application for a new social security card because they said one of my documents was not a certified copy (it was the original), then LOST ALL OF MY ID. When I called to ask for it back, they repeatedly hung up on me. Unbelievably terrible. They couldn't be worse at their jobs if they were actively trying.

The person picked up the phone but pretend notu2026 not answering my question and doing his/her own thingu2026.

I have made several attempts to change my name via SS-5, of which has been denied, simply stating that the proper documentation had not been received. How could this be? All documentation forwarded was original to include my birth certificate, DMV print out, current CA identification card, medical records number, my marriage certificate, my SS card with the name in question, and an Income Earning Statement issued to me by the Social Security Administration.nnAfter calling repeatedly, I finally made contact with a customer service agent that refused to connect me with a supervisor and went on to inform me that social security card replacements or name changes are not important enough to schedule an appointment, or require the attention of a supervisor and then he disconnected my call.

I called, waited on hold for 15 minutes, nobody says anything after I keep on asking if there is anybody on the linenand they hung up on me. How can I contact this office? They don't do SS-5 name change online.

Giving it a failing grade. They were very timely in servicing me and my wife, but this office never mailed us or contacted us that our social security application was denied. We had to visit them again for an update even though they said for sure we would get a notice.

The place is clean and well maintained and the employees are very courteous. But it just seems like they don't know their job as well. I have been there five times about a Name issue on my card and all the time I get pushed to some other government agency who then pushes me back to them. It just seems like somewhere down the line the machinery is broken

The Berkeley office and apparently all SSA offices are currently closed due to COVID-19. Any business requiring an in-person visit cannot currently be conducted. The advice from the phone rep was to wait.

I called at 3:31 PM. Berkeley office closes at 4 PM. computer voice said that is was 1 1/2 hour wait. How would that work? not helpful at all.

All you get is a busy signal. 12:26... Guess they don't stagger lunches and everybody takes off their headset at once.
    Ruth Lean
Only one window open in the front hall. Some window open in the back that we can not to see if they are working. Not even half full but proceed slow. Hoping they have better service.

Friendly and courteous interviewers. Clean and nonjudgmental environment! Decent bathrooms! Guard is very quiet and professional!
