I went in today to change my name after my marriage. I did have to make an appointment before, and I would recommend calling at 3 PM because the phone lines do get busy. I had all my paperwork and the security guard was friendly and getting through the line pretty quickly, directing people on where to go or what to do. I only had to wait a couple minutes after my appointment time which is pretty standard and the SSA rep that helped me was nice and courteous and worked quickly. Overall, a very positive experience! I drove to this location because I heard good things and I can confirm.

I had a wonderful experience. What people need to understand is that the employees here donu2019t make the policy, they just have to uphold it. With that being said the employees were so helpful and kind. I had to bring my two children with me, and someone brought coloring pages and markers out on two clipboards to keep them occupied. My son is autistic so errands like this can be difficult to navigate. I was very impressed by the people in this office with their positive attitude and Iu2019ll definitely be choosing this location again for future needs.

I was in and out of the Apache Junction location within 10 minutes!!! It was great!! The hold time to schedule my appointment was exactly 15 minutes and although the first rep hung up on me both times I called the 2nd rep answered within 15 minutes and was extremely helpful. Jessica (I think was her name) was very knowledgeable, polite, and worked expeditiously. John (I hope was his name) had a great sense of humor and was kind enough to tell the agent assigned to my appointment that I would be running a few minutes late. All together my experience was a breeze! Thank you Apache Junction SSA office!! You all rock!!!

ATTENTION if you are changing your name because of marriage BRING YOUR MARRIAGE LICENSE no matter what the paper or the website says. I waited for an hour just to be told I needed my marriage license. Everything online said to bring my birth certificate etcu2026nnAlso I waited on hold to make an appointment for 2 hours just to be told they donu2019t make appointments for name changes. I called today to schedule an appointment and after 51 minutes of waiting Iu2019m told they donu2019t take appointments anymore itu2019s all walk-ins. I told the gentleman while holding to speak with someone the hold recording encourages an appointment vs walk-ins. He said he was aware of that and apologized that is hasnu2019t been changed but still walk-ins only. Man sounded like we was working from home and the call wasnu2019t professional.

I have been trying to speak to someone at the apache Junction office since 8am we have two phones going yet the only thing we have gotten is hung up on. Listening to a lady pretend that she couldn't hear us when we could hear her just fine and then she hung up. I gentlemen picked up yet never said anything but could hear kids and him talking in the background then he hung up. It is not almost 4pm and we have been doing this since early morning.. Utter nonsense that with two phones going we couldn't reach one person to help or even talk too!!!!! This needs to be fixed!

Security officer was rude and nasty to me before I even got in the door..then once I checked him about how nasty he was to me he said because I came in as a elderly woman was leaving. Mind you she gave me and my newborn the gesture to come in. He was so rude!..then tried to antagonize me by being overly nice to everyone else that came in. 2 stars for the guy who processed my paperwork..he was slightly passive aggressive as well. I will not return ever!

Appointments don't take long and calls are answered quickly. All representatives are helpful courteous and kind.

I've tried for weeks to get someone on the phone. Can't make appointment. Long distant SS number gives conflicting information. It's very difficult to do anything with the SS office. I'm very disappointed!

They have really smart, good people working there. They are fast as far as wait times go. Doing a good job job for us all.

No one ever calls back. They send you letters about needing to call by a certain deadline and no one answers for weeks and weeks. I have tried calling the same extension for a week now. No return phone calls

Make sure you have an appointment, but I was in and out 11/19 in like 8 minutes. The security guard that was there was a super kind and awesome, as was the lady at window 2 that helped me. Government places get a bad rep but this place ran very smooth!

Beau the manager lied to me. He sent me out to get more stuff after the lady told me over the phone what I needed.i have kids to get from school which I made them aware of. He also told me to return and that he would take me immediately with the correct paper work. I did so and had to wait for everyone else to be called or helped first. I was late to my kids. Honestly goes along way being a manager. Spent the entire afternoon doing everything I could to make them happy and for the guy running the place to not keep his word is a big let down.nAlso the guy at the security door could be a lot more friendlier.

Had a very pleasant experience with Ms. Crosby and Dolores from the Apache Junction office. Very professional and well mannered women who took care of an urgent need during these covid times. It's always refreshing when you get employees who actually care about their positions and strive to take care of the community they work in. Thank you Ms. Crosby and Dolores for all your help!

I've been told the letter i needed for my disabled uncle was sent 3weeks ago and we never received it. I keep getting this male specimen on the line and he's the rudest and most unprofessional person I've ever met and he keeps hanging up on me! I was told to make an appointment but I can't even find put how to do so. Frustrating and I've had it because we are running out of time to get the info he needs for business purposes!!!!

Awful supervisors that never return phone calls or follow up on open cases. They lost our marriage license 6 mo ago, and are still looking for it.. do not send them any documents.
    Allison Young
I was hesitant at first to mail in my documents for a name change due to all of the negative reviews I have seen. However, I did it anyway since it is currently the only way to get a new SS card. I mailed in my marriage certificate and name change form in a priority mail envelope and received my new SS card within 2 1/2 weeks and my marriage certificate in 4 weeks!

If you get an African-American male on the line, I would hang up and try again and hope you get someone else. The person was extremely incompetent and rude. No excuses for being an government employee. If this is a privately owned enterprise, he would be collecting unemployment.
    Joe Trepanier
Went to the SSA office with my wife to apply for her benefits.nWe were not sure what to expect because of all the negative reviews but were pleasantly surprised to have a much better than expected experience. The staff we met is most friendly and professional.nWe got there just after the office opened at about 9:10am, so we did have to wait a bit (about 30 min.) to check in and to see someone, but we were in and out in less than an hour.nThe security guard in the entrance area was friendly and efficient and Billie Jo, the person who took our application, was very helpful and able to answer all of our questions and address all of our concerns. She is great. Thank you Billie Jo for your excellent service.

I had to send in my marriage license to get my name changed on my social. Itu2019s been three mo this and still no new social security card and you guys donu2019t have my marriage license but my name has been changed in the system. I got told I had to do it all by mail and this is the reason I didnu2019t want to.

Expect to wait. The security guards are super nice and funny! The building is clean, a little warm inside, but overall good. The people that helped me out were surprisingly very nice and helpful! There were a few strange characters that made me a little nervous but what can you expect?
    Sarah Smith
Glad I called this place than the place in Phoenix. They were very helpful in answering all my questions through the phone and informed me on what I needed to do. They didnu2019t even have to ask for all my information before answering my questions. The one in Phoenix wanted all my information first to just get a call back to even answer my questions. This place was super informative and super helpful. Definitely coming here than in Phoenix.
    Candice Whitford
Most people here are friendly but if you are lucky enough to get Brooke then you're in good hands! She was so helpful and such an angel. We had a lot to take care of and she went over everything making sure we got it all. She even found money we were owed from SS! They need to give her a raise or promote her to train all the staff. Our family really appreciated her help!

I take a family member to this location whenever he needs to update information or has questions. It's pretty small but we have always had a wait time less then 30 minutes, today we only had to wait 15 minutes. You can NOT get SS cards or replacement cards here, you have to go to Phoenix for that service which is a bit ridiculous. They need to open a East Valley office that is authorized to at least issue replacement cards.
    Jen Walsh
Don't bother going to the office, because they are not open and you will need to call in anyway. Needed to get replacement SSN cards for my kids and can't request them online or go in person with the documents requested and they want me to mail my driver's license and kids' birth certificates to them and they will send them back to me eventually. Asked what I'm supposed to do if I need my driver's license and was told it's a fix-it ticket and let the cop know SSA has your license. God forbid all these original documents were to get lost in the mail.

I needed a replacement card. I went to the Mesa office and was informed that office didn't do Soc applications. I said I wasn't applying for a card, I already had one which I needed to replace. She said I needed to complete an application for a replacement. She gave me a paper listing the two offices in Phoenix that do applications. I chose the Tatum south of Bell office rather than driving in downtown Phoenix on 6th Ave.nApache Junction has an office but they don't do apps either.nI think it is ludicrous to force people in these outlying areas to drive these distances to fill out a simple form. Why not have a person designated to do the forms at all offices and then forward them to a central location for completion and processing? No, that would entail common sense and would actually benefit the public!!#&%*
