I have been trying for two months now to get information from the Social Security office in Mobile, Al. On May 6, 2022, I finally got an interview for my Social Socurity benefits. One of the reviews (Terresa) told me to bring very important paper work down to the office. I did it and was told to put them in the drop box in the lobby. In the mail I recieved documents saying my benefits would be starting July 1,2022 but in did not indicate the amont I would be recieving. So I called down to the Mobile office and was hung up on by someone. I try to report it and no one would let me speak to a supervisor. On May 23, 2022 I finally got in touch with Terresa who interviewed me on May 6, 2022. She told me they lost my paper I placed in the drop box. This is un-heard of.Terresa told me to bring to paper work back down there again. I ask her who collect the documents from the drop box and she said the supervisor select a different person to get them everday. Wow - can't believe it.

When I talked to them on the phone they were super sweet and helpful. Due to covid they are not open to the public but do have a drop off box. After driving there I found that the drop off box is only open from 9am to noon and I was unaware. Hence the 4 stars. You do have the option to mail everything in, so at least there's a backup plan.

Absolutely useless. The most frustrating people on the earth to deal with!! No clue why it is SO HARD to get someone who can do their job.

Closed for renovations. They don't list that on the website. They have a phone number posted on the door to talk to an agent that is working from home. All forms must be filled out online then mailed. They refuse to put this information on the website. Don't waste time by driving down there and finding parking, the front door is locked with a note posted on the door. Very inconvenient for those of us that had to take time out of our day to drive downtown for them to be closed.

Been waiting (longer than normal) for my new card, with many calls placed to the primary office and only misinformation provided to me, I was about to have to jump through hurdles to get my card. Luckily, I called the Mobile office and spoke to Kenneth. He was very friendly and the first person I spoke to that actually helped me! I couldn't be more thankful!

Free parking on site. We got in line 10 minutes before the office opened on a Monday morning. We were the 23rd in line. Promptly at 9 they opened the office and began to check people by assigning us numbers. We were seated with a number by 9:10 and were served by 9:22. Changing my wife's name for marriage and registering for both of ourmy social security onlinetook less than half an hour, and we were out of there before 10 a.m. Very pleased and impressed with the service that we received!

I lost my social security card and I dreaded going into the office per the negative reviews. I arrived 40 minutes before the office opened and was pleasantly surprised the waiting line was relatively short. The office opened promptly at 9:00. Once inside the office the process went smoothly. The representative was WONDERFUL, proficient, and pleasant. I was walking out the door within 20 minutes. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE u263a

I applied for SS online on October 9 and the status of my claim wasProcessinguntil I called and spoke with Mrs. Ray on December 8. She seemed to genuinely care, and lo and behold, my SS payments for October and November showed up in my bank account 3 days later. Thank you Mrs. Ray and the Mobile office!

Well it was slow, but not unreasonable. 15 minute wait. The lady that helped was very nice and efficient. Not bad for a govt facility. The facility by the way was clean and professional and seemed to be a secure location with armed guards.

It took me longer to park my car. I stood in line for maybe 5 min total. The staff was very nice. I got there at 10am (wed morning) and was walking out the door by 10:15.! I just got married and they made it extremely convenient for me. Thanks! I really appreciate it!

Most of the staff is arrogant and condescending, as though that is written into their corporate culture model. Shame on a government agency for treating the citizens so badly.

Poor customer service.. Waited about 15 minutes until they answered only to tell me to,hold onthen hung up. She never returned my call. I had to return the call and it's still a long wait

Horrible!!!! Trying to get daughters card for the second time in 5 years and both times its something new and still no card. First it was need a blue card and birth certificate this time its certified school records. OK but here's parents IDs, birth certificate, blue cards, health insurance papers and card, doctor paper work. What would her school records have anything to do with her ss card. After running in circles and getting what they said they wanted and taking off work to make a full day of dealing with the ss office. Still nothing was accomplished and next time it'll just be something else new.

Helpful on the phone call I made. Thank you

Hardly any wait time maybe 5 to 10 mins. Quick to handle at window. Clean friendly atmosphere. Bathrooms need tidy more often
    Jessica Cochran
They do not have all information listed for if you need a social security card for a child. It says online you need proof of ID, ie drivers license state issued ID or non driver's license. A five year old child is not going to have any of those things, they do not tell you online what to bring. When you call them to ask if they will not answer the phone no matter how many times you call. When you show up not having the correct information they will get rude with you.
    Cindy Stephens
Parking is a hassle. Be prepared to wait. I had a difficult time obtaining information on proper forms of ID acceptable for school aged children to be turned away and start over another day. Good luck trying to get anyone to answer the phone.

The rudest people I have ever dealt with! The representative who helped me, Emmett, was very knowledgeable and patiently answered every question I had. Could not ask for better service!
    Kaytee Picone (kayterz2no1)
Please explain to me how a government building in the United States exists and has no changing facilities for a baby?? Reprehensible and unacceptable. They walk around and police people for having drinks though.
    Brittany Brown
Whoever really needs to hire workers who don't talk down to the ones needing their children's social security card. I brought in what was required and it wasn't right in his eyes. He was rude and had attitude right off the bat!

    Daphne Seaman Miller
Don't attempt to get new Social Security card without ALL original documents. No copies are accepted. Marriage license must be original from court, along with original sealed birth certificate.
    Isabella Yates
I need a updated SS card and they don't let you do this online because I live in the UK...
    Amy Phan
As any government run place, I was surprised by how nice and efficient they were.

Although this is a government agency all of the people I have encountered have been professional, compassionate, and extremely helpful.

Plan to spend at least 2 hours. And make sure you have everything they ask for or you'll have to spend some more hours.
