After spending weeks trying to get in touch with this office, and the phone calls either not going through or dropping completely I physically went to their office where they have a massive board stating they are only accepting phone calls to the number that doesn't work.nnA woman mentioned a drop box inside which is extremly small and should be mentioned as an available option when you call their office number, I place my ORIGINAL passport and additional documents needed to have my name legally changed. I received my original passport and supporting documents in the mail a week later, however, another week later I receive a notice that this office wouldn't issue me a new SSN card because they cannot accept copies of my passport. I sent the ORIGINAL passport, not copies. Now I have to again attempt to get this situated and this office phone number is now coming through as no longer in service. If I had the option it would receive zero stars.

Mrs. Bristow was wonderful. She took her time and explained to me about my area of concern. She was very knowledgeable in the area I had questions about and was willing to check on my concerns. After speaking with her I had a complete understanding about the matter I called about.

This office is by far the worst Social Security office in the country. It is the only federal office who choose to remain closed to the public because they choose to continue to exercise COVID restrictions. The Dothan office Interprets regulations and impose restrictions based on their interpretation of the regulation without recourse. I have provided the Dothan office with multiple documents to include passports, a drivers license, an official gov passport to verify date of birth and every time I submit something they kick it back telling me itu2019s not good enough based on their interpretation of a regulation. For example; I used an official passport that was good enough to deploy to the Middle East in defense of our country, yet the Dothan Social Security office tells me itu2019s not any good because it doesnu2019t have 10 years remaining on it although it is still valid. The Dothan Social Security office decides to add a 10 year requirement yet there is nothing they can provide me that states a passport has to have 10 years remaining to be used as supporting documentation to validate date of birth. The level of incompetency is well beyond my understanding I would recommend everyone and anyone who has an issue with the Dothan Social Security office to elevate this far above the constraints of the Dothan Social Security management. I would also recommend making a drive to Panama City Montgomery Huntsville Georgia anywhere but the Dothan office and you will see they function under a complete different standard but thatu2019s probably because they go by the regulation rather than interpreting the rules and making them up as they see fit, but then again I am sure they are trying to help you rather than fight you every step of the way.

Most aggravating people to deal with over the phone. I can Never get anyone to answer my call! They most believe people have the time to be sitting on a phone for hours at a time just to talk to someone for 5 minutes... Makes no sense at all.

This place told me I have to mail my drivers license off in the mail it can't be a copy and I can't come in person what happens if it gets lost or if a person gets pulled over without an ID every other office is open they know covid is a joke mandates are down and they are scared to do their job I'd give them a neg if I could what a joke

Mr. Armstrong at the Dothan office has been very thorough with my case. My wife and I both have had contact with him numerous times in the past year and we always get an answer within 24 hours. He has been a tremendous help.

This social security office gives you the complete run around. First of all you have to get all these documents together from the doctors for your children and it has to say u201cthis is a copy of the originalu201d then you have to get forms from YOUR doctors because they donu2019t accept or copy of your id through the mail. Once you do that you have to print the application, sign it, and send it off. It took me a whole day to round up documents and print out forms. Let people put on mask, and open up the building! Itu2019s ridiculous,Itu2019s the middle of 2021. Everywhere else is OPEN

I have dealt with the SS office at several different locations in different states and this one is by far the best one I have ever been to. The workers there are professional and pretty efficient for the number of people who are usually there. This is the only office I have been to that has not tried to pass the buck to someone else, instead they helped me find a solution and quite quickly. I had a problem in Florida that I had worked on for over a year and just kept getting the run around, its always processing, check back in 30 days. Within 2 months in Alabama at this office and my whole problem was solved.

I am new to Medicare and Social Security benefits. In short, even for a government agency the Dothan SSA office is incompetent - and very expensive if you don't check up on everything they do. Anyone you talk to will tell you it is someone else's fault. That is, if you can hear them. Their phone system has the quality of two tin cans and a string. But they don't care.nBut you cannot even try to talk to the person you need to, you have to leave a message - even though you can never understand the recorded message. Calls are rarely returned anyway.nI have always believed that incompetence starts at the top. Whoever manages this office should be replaced. Then work their way down the employee list.

I know the ssoffice handle thousands of clients but their was absolutely no excuse for the treatment that I got from the social security office in Dothan Alabama I was yelled at, when I will call they would hang up on me, no return phone calls they acted as if I was a nuisance to them.everyone in the social security office on that day and time heard the supervisor over the whole building yelling at me, telling me that I had already received x amount of money. The judge awarded me this money the money was taken out of my check. I was told that if I had any outstanding bills or just bills need paying to fax it to the social security office and they would pay it. Well guess what she did not pay my bill. the fax was sent to them on the 17th for this bill and it never got paid until this Monday on the 3rd. Yes I'm mad as hell it's my money and I want it now

I can't properly describe my disappointment with the two male representatives working the windows at this office. Not only were they rude, insulting and abrasive they gave me wrong information concerning my case. If I would have listened to Chris Gardner my Brother would have lost a good part of his benefits and he would have had to pay 4000 in an overpayment because of simply mistake on his case review. He told me I couldn't file a reconsideration or appeal even though it was clearly written in the decision that it was my right, he said they put that statement in a lot of things where it didn't belong. Thanks to Mrs Perez and Mrs Cooper the mistake was fixed and he owes nothing. The real tragedy is this fool has probably given other people wrong information and they accepted it and believed he knew his job when he is absolutely clueless. I will file a formal complaint against him. Do your research and don't let people like him keep you from receiving the benefits youu00a0 deserve because he doesn't want to bother to help you. The treatment and out of line statements I had to sit through and should cost him his job. He told me he was sick of dealing with me( because I spent 3 days trying to correct the error) I was a slacker and It wasn't his job to fix what we broke. I can't believe they allow this man to work with the elderly and disabled thatu00a0 come to the Social security for help.

Completely impressed by the proficiency of the Dothan office the two times I visited. Now the fight to get benefits, that's a TOTALLY different story. We have to urge our Senators and Congressmen to fight to increase Social Security funding and to make adjustments to the screening and approval process. It is a shame to have impairments preventing employment that take 18 months to receive relief. You can email our representatives about it. That is their job, to speak for us in Washington. And for those abusing the system, SHAME ON YOU. If you are able to work, stop scamming and get a job. You are wasting everyone's time.

Very disappointed at how a action was handled in the line waiting outside the door before the office opened. I understand getting here a hour early to beat the line, but if you're not at the door technically you are not in line. And the pushing a lady's purse out of the way with your foot is very rude, just because you said you were here first. Well when the doors opened the security guard allowed several people to push the lady back while she was trying to tell him what was happening. I am reporting this because in my opinion this was not fair!!!

Called and was told to fax or mail my application. Why aren't they in the office working?

I would like to give them half a star, but it isnu2019t an option. The people are rude, and will not help anyone. They messed up on faxing important papers, and when someone over the phone gives out the wrong information, and all you want to do is speak to the supervisor in person. The damn social security officer wants to cause a scene. (No, contrary to belief, I was not rude nor was I harassing the teller.)

So far Iu2019ve had to wait a hour and a half and am still waiting. All I want to do is find out about is scams that is going on now, as I just got a call saying they were going to come pick me up for something, I canu2019t remember what he said I did wrong. But I didnu2019t do anything wrong so Iu2019m not worried, just thought I would find out if Social Security knew anything about this. Anyway they were going to put me in jail. Still waiting.

They have horrible customer service and because of Covid expects people to go online then when you try to login it's saying something went wrong. Then you keep calling and they have you on the phone for 30mins wairing for someone just to hear that don't know what to do....
