For 3 weeks I have waited for Natalie from Spokane Washington office to call back. Left more than 5 messages to call back as I was RETURNING HER CALL. She does not have the work ethics or bosses who care enough about what their employees do.nI guess I can assume. They are not there to help nor do they care.nMust be great to be a federal non working employee.nHOURS one phone trying to talk to someone. On hold for half hour or MORE only to be hung up on.

My payee died and social security said that my income wouldn't stop but it did stop with no notice or mail notification nor phone call nor anything even after I immediately re-applied for a new payee. They said it would take 30 days or more for the new payee to have an interview. So I have no way of paying rent, phone bill, heat bill, expenses, nor leisure activities and NOBODY TOLD ME my income stopped in fact they said the opposite. Now since I have no income I've just found out right before rent is due that I felt forced to apply to my bank for a $2,000 loan. To be honest I'm not sure if the local office or international office gave me misinformation that my Income would not stop because sometimes the international office answers for the local office. This is ridiculous and I'm the one paying out of pocket hundreds if not thousands of dollars plus interest without foundational help. Get your people Trained! You're costing us money.

I spend 45 min plus per day twice a week on the phone trying to reach you people for a 'dire' appt. Never do you answer. I'm keeping track though and writing it all down so when it comes time to get an attorney, I will be prepared. I have tried relentlessly to contact you. In fact...your phone is still ringing as I type this. I'm into this call 41 minutes.nSo sad!!!nnUPDATE: Still dealing with these guys. Now they have changed their phone systems to where you have to know the name of a caseworker in order to get through on the phone. You cant just call and talk with someone if you need information. This office and the system in general is the worst.

I recently got married and mailed my application in for a name change. I sent my paperwork in (marriage license, birth certificate, drivers license and old social security card) and i got all my paperwork back in 4 days! I canu2019t believe it. I was super nervous to send everything in because of the reviews on here. I was expecting to be without a license for 3-4 weeks! Obviously, I am very happy about receiving everything back so quickly. I even live over an hour away from this office so they must have been pretty prompt with my request. I also came here 7 years ago to get a social security card and I remember the wait was long but when we went in we left with what we needed. I hope you have a good experience with this office! Fingers crossed ud83eudd1e for you ud83dudc95

They do not monitor customer service here because there is no alternative to Social Security. I am a college student who can't miss classes. I can't call out of work like everyone else can. I know that is my own problem, but the way the receptionist talked to me and interrupted me before I was even done speaks volumes. I just mentioned a 9 am time wouldn't work due to college and she just saidwell I am telling you the times we have(interrupting again). I worked reception before and could never get away with that. The employees talk to callers like this because they know they can get away with it.

If it was possible to give them a -5 star review I would so do that. They're the cause of my low blood pressure to now be at a high blood pressure. If we didn't need a social security card I wouldn't do business with them because they're that bad.nnI was on the phone with them for TWO whole hours with nobody answering the phone even though it was a 15 minute wait. I've applied for a social security card for my daughter when she was born and STILL haven't got her the social security card to file taxes, and to get her health insurance that she very much needs. I would rather focus my energy on something else. For something so important they treat it like it's no big deal.

For a place that is willing to cut off your income over a 10-day period of not informing them of updated information, Them not having working phones is an absolute disaster. 100% not acceptable, I tried multiple numbers, multiple attempts, yet all I get is the machine hanging up. Peoples livelihood depend on you guys keeping FUNCTIONAL equipment like the rest of the 21st century.

My son is owed back disability payments. I received a letter back in April about it. I had to have him re evaluated to make sure he is still disabled (Autistic) I had him re evaluated over 90 days ago. Still no payment in his account, I can't use these payments on anything for his needs except for medical except there are stipulations on that too. He is also a Diabetic, I asked about special socks and shoes for his feet, I was told No, that was not a medical necessity. This is his money they owe to him, and now they have stipulations on it. His medical covers everything already, and if I do need to use it, I have to write a letter requesting to use it and wait for an answer. His case manager never returns calls, the person disbursing the money never returns calls. These back payments are 1 every 6 months. I have never been so disappointed in a company. When you call the main line you either get someone who yells at you, or hangs up on you. The most rude customer service, and just simply unorganized or lazy. We all get busy at our jobs, but if I did my job this way, I would not have a job.... They need to clean house and get new staff, or at least train the staff they have.

I sit on the phone on hold for 20+ minutes to have someone answer and hang up. Then when I call again Iu2019m on hold even longer and canu2019t get through at all, just keeps on ringing. Once I finally get through after wasting an hour plus of my life, I always get someone rude who acts like they just got hired that day and have no idea where theyu2019re at.

Worst experience imaginable! Made a face-to-face appointment to bring in documentation they had requested. After no updates for a month, called and found that they had lost the documentation and had no record of me delivering it. Made another appointment to walk-in the documentation. The person I was supposed to meet was a no-show, and all I could do was drop the documentation off...again! Now, I have to call again (maybe the 3rd time will be the charm?) to see what further I need to do. All of this incompetence is holding up Medicare and Social Security benefits. I really feel for anyone having to deal with this office. Frankly, I don't think they even deserve the one star with this post!

So after reading the last several reviews I was VERY hesitant on mailing my name change application for a second time. They wanted an original copy of my marriage certificate and I will not mail in my driveru2019s license or anything else for obvious reasons. Went there today and the security guard was very helpful. They processed my name change within 15 minutes. They have you put your phone number on an envelope and a representative will call you while you wait outside or in your car, so you can get your ID back after processing all necessary documents. Sorry for anyone else who has had a poor experience, but it sounds like theyu2019re trying to correct it. (I had to send a certified piece of mail for $15 only to get it mailed back) so yes I have had trouble as well. But all in all hopefully they fix this mess!

You know what would be fun? If ya'll actually answered the phone calls that are put on hold, instead of hanging up on them eventually. I have called this office three times, twice in the morning and once mid afternoon, and all three times have been hung up on. First time on hold, it finished by ringing nonstop and then hanging up. Second, on hold for about a half hour, then dead silence until finally hanging itself up. Third time, endless hold. Is it your phone system? Your employees? Both? I'm not calling you for kicks and giggles here people.

I'm trying to get a replacement of my SS card and can't get any answers as to what is going on with my stuff. I had to send in License, and a Drs note. Hope they get busy as I'm not getting jobs because of there delay. Will call in the AM.

They're overworked and yes the phone wait is long but that's really not on them. They try to help you as much as they can. I had to update SS record because I was recently naturalized and they were super super helpful and I managed to get it taken care of the day of. Very appreciative of them!!

Was on hold for thirty minutes and I asked to make an appointment and she just goes No. I had to ask why and she was beyond short with me. I had a question about mailing in my ID because I wasnu2019t allowed to make an appointment and instead of answering she paused for about five seconds and just sarcastically goes u201cokayyyyy???u201d To which I had to say u201cI literally asked a question I need to know the answeru201d and she did not answer the question and said u201cjust send the ID inu201d. I just wanted to ask if I could make an appointment so Iu2019m not without my drivers license (I donu2019t have a passport to mail them) for a few weeks and was treated terribly. I like to think Iu2019m a nice person but by the end of this phone call I hung up on her without saying thanks or bye, I wish so badly I donu2019t have to deal with them but I just got married and am really wanting to change my name!

This office has no accountability. I told my daughter I'd help her get her name changed with SS to her married name. It turned out they wanted her to send her drivers license in the mail (not open due to covid) FOR FOUR WEEKS as identification, it couldn't be a copy. How do you go without a license for four weeks? That wasn't their problem. The whole system is about their convenience, not yours. Then, another of their staff on the phone said if we included a self addressed envelope they would copy the license and return it right away. So she sent it. I called when it didn't come in 10 days, another of their staff said they don't do that, she would have to wait. If we'd known that, we wouldn't have sent it. But, she said if my daughter called back, they could check on the status, they couldn't tell me the status as it's not my license, which I get, that's ok. So my daughter called back and the next person said no, they don't check status on the phone for mail. She just has to wait. So...they can say anything, true or not, and there's no accountability to follow up with customer service on what is said.

This establishment is the most unprofessional and rude group of people I've worked with. I got berated over the phone from your angry representatives, lost my ID in the mail and told it was my fault and that I should have sent my passportn(Obviously I don't have one?)nAnd then I get a letter declining my application. Thos letter is full of typos and bad grammar, it looks like a five year old wrote it. Do better.
    Steve Bailey
Yes there was a line shortly after they opened but that was due to the fact security was doing their required screening, similar to the airport screening. The security guards were very professional and extremely helpful and courteous. As with any government office you took a number and waited for your turn. When I was called to the window the representative was very friendly and helpful. Yes I was there for 1 hour and 45 minutes but they were busy. Just plan on going with the understanding there may be a wait. By the time I left at 11am, there was no line at the security screening station.

Dropped my ID and ss card application off in a sealed envelope a month ago, customer service said it was sent back and then I received a letter stating there was no ID in the envelope. Pretty sure someone there is stealing IDs and ssn. BEWARE.

Waiting to get a hold of someone for over 2!!!HOURS!!!!!! After trying to reach them the other day as well! Just terrible.
    Brittany Anderson-Wolf
Absolute awful service!! I called (due to Covid you cannot go to the office) multiple times, during business hours, to speak to a rep about my newbornu2019s SS card not showing up in the mail, only to be disconnected after 20 mins on each call. The rep I finally did speak to was incredibly rude. She read from a script so fast no one would be able to understand her, then was clearly irritated when I asked questions. After asking if I shouldu2019ve received the card by now she told me u201cthatu2019s not the issue.u201d It is the issue if I have to send a request in for a replacement - I donu2019t want to send in my original documents if I should still be expecting a card to show up! Just totally poor service all around. They should review phone calls and make some cuts. People deserve better.

My Social Security Office is from Spokane, Washington, where I recieved beyond 5 Star assistance from Staff Member, Daniel. My situation was complex and this Gentleman took all of the time needed to assist me until all of my questions and concerns were answered and he went on to share resources as a supplement for back up if needed. He was courteous in every step of the way, never making me feel I was disrupting his work flow, which I wish every single Service Representative out in the work field would take notes in how to deal with the general public (which can be challenging enough at best) for the TOP service given and those that receive it. If there had been a 10 + Star option, I would have taken it. Well done Sir, Daniel, thank you so much for your time and assistance!

I am trying to apply for benefits on behalf of my daughter who's father passed away in November. I cannot apply online, so I have been trying to reach the Spokane office to start the process and/or make an appointment. I was on hold for over 15 minutes and then hung up on. I called back and went through the menu options again an was hung up on almost immediately. I realize that the office is operating under unusual circumstances, but hanging up on callers is unacceptable and the office needs to be made aware that is why I'm leaving this review..

Agent who helpd me via over the phone to do my application with me was great, friendly, and knowledgeable on what he does. He could also relate to me which was nice. After receiving mail from him to fill out, I did that and called for some questions regarding the paperwork, he picked up on 1st try and helped out again with no problem. Thanks again!

Accomplished in one month, including mailing time to/from Canada, what the Bellingham office couldn't accomplish in nearly two years time - a simple replacement social security card with a partial name change. Did exactly what they were supposed to do with zero issues.

It's Tuesday morning, the place opens at 9 am and I arrived at 8:45am. The parking lot was almost full and there were already 39 people in line ahead of me! The line begins in the lobby where there's only standing room. While standing in line, I called the 1800 number to make an appointment for a different day. It hung up on me saying they didn't have enough agents to take my call. Ugh!!nAfter standing in line for 45 minutes, I got to go though the metal detector and into the waiting room with chairs to sit in. I took a service ticket and got to wait some more. 1 hour and 40 minutes later, it was finally my turn. My business at the service desk took less than 5 minutes.nnPro: Security guards at metal detector were friendly. The lady that ultimately helped me out was friendly, competent, and she worked quickly.nnCon: Ridiculously long wait. SSA should find a way to to decrease waiting times to less than 30 minutes.nSuggestions: Update the SSA website so people can make appointments online.nHire more people and move to larger facility so SSA can handle the volume of people needing their services.

This has got to be the most asinine group of people I have ever met. They seriously need to teach their staff how to communicate with the public. Not once but twice I have been to their office this month only for them to tell me I need more documents. Now I have to go a third time. Short of giving birth on their lobby floor I cannot prove more than what I have that my daughter is mine and lives with me. Now I have wasted 5 hours of work time total and will have to find another day to take time off because of their lack of communication. I would go to another office or do my transaction online if I were able to.

Interminable wait, robot call triage, only to be told the wait on the phone is more than an hour, but I can schedule a call back in forty five minutes! Got the call back right on time. Representative was slow at getting my information, made me repeat stuff slowly, to the point where I was using u201cAu201d as in alpha, etc... wouldnu2019t let me get a word in edgewise, nor could we deviate from the script in any way. It took fifteen minutes to schedule an appointment for a month out!!!! That should have been a three minute call tops! So altogether an hour of my day was spent on this little project. Not very happy at this kind of treatment.

I have been to this particular office several times and have been met with the same treatment as described below until the last 2 times I have been there. The first of the 2 visits I was helped by representative Micheal who assisted me with the filling out of a records request. He was patient and kind and did not rush me during the process. Today when I went in to see why thayrwquest was denied, the gentleman at window 8 blew me away with his professionalism and downright kindness. I was in shortly after lunch and it wasnt very crowded but I dont think it would have mattered because this gentleman genuinely cared about my reason for being there and is an asset to the AdministrationnIn addition, I spoke to all 4 security guys and they are great guys trying to make a living protecting people who are going through a tough time but sometimes direct their dissatisfaction at the guys protecting them. Here is the secret to getting along with the security guys: first and foremost, respect them. Second, respect the fact that they are there to protect YOU. Finally, pay attention and follow directions and you will see that those guys are great guys.
