I have recently visited this office a few times as my cases for Medicare and Social Security benefits involve some special issues. The staff in this office are professional, courteous, patient. In particularly, I would like to thank Mr. Arima (I hope I have got his name correct) for his kind and effective assistance in helping me resolve some complex issues with my application. The security guard is also very nice.

Some of the most incompetent people I have ever encountered. They are extremely rude and disrespectful and refuse to work. You all deserve to be FIRED!! Some people have urgent business to do and you horrible people prevent us from doing so!!! You are all pathetic excuses of employees and do NOT deserve a paycheck. The woman refuses to schedule urgent appointments. You are absolutely awful!!! Who do you all think you are by keeping vital information from legal citizens of this country!!! Disgusting!!!! I will find a way to report this pathetic Winchester department. I hope you all lose your jobs and paychecks, soon.

A person from Soc. Sec. was mean to me over the phone. When the paperwork came in the mail it had typos/wrong information. I have 10 days to fix it the letter said, after waiting 6 weeks for the phone appointment. In her defense, it may be difficult to work from home sometimes. Today I called Soc. Sec. and a kind person helped me.

Called 4 times. Same rude man. Will not identify himself when conversing so you canu2019t record his rude behavior. Wanted to provide update medical information because Iu2019ve been playing phone tag with my Claims Specialist. I am was told they would contact me if they needed anything. Well, they wouldnu2019t know to contact me if they didnu2019t know I had additional documents. He did not want to take my information and said I could mail it. I didnu2019t want to mail it at this point because Iu2019ve been trying for two weeks to get the address from my Claims Specialist.nIn my previous interactions with the woman at the Winchester office I normally get; she was alway more than happy to help me.nWhen I asked to speak to a supervisor he hung up on me. ud83dude21

Called this office multiple times. After waiting on hold 15-30 minutes, a recording states this office is busy, call back later. The few times I actually (thought) got through, it sounded like someone literally picked up the phone and hung it up, without even answering it. There is literally NO WAY to reach ANYONE at this office!

Absolutely horrible. Canu2019t go in because of Covid. Need a name change but online says call to get all information needed been on hold for 1 hour and keep trying to call back no one will pick up or return my call after they sent me to voicemail.

I have been trying to contact them for three weeks to get a social security card replaced. No one ever answers. Website doesn't work either.

Extremely rude , short , interrupting to tell me to listen , when I was simply asking what address to mail the form back to ! A simple u201cmail it to your local office u201c would have sufficed .. no need at all for the rudeness . Where do they find these people?

Rude guy on the phone who clearly doesnu2019t want to be at his job. Gathering info was frustrating and he doesnu2019t seem to be aware of the SSA.gov procedures because I was mislead. He even told me to reapply since I must have done it wrong but I cannot reapply because my application is pending. I hope he hits every red light on the way home :)

I visited this office after the Fairfax office misspelled my new last name. At the Fairfax office, I had to wait for 3 hours to get seen. I didn't realize their mistake until I got my new social security card. The staff at the Winchester office were so friendly and helpful and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. It was much further of a drive to visit Winchester, but it was so worth it!

Walked in for a replacement card and was out in no more than twelve minutes. Since I needed the card for employment purposes, it takes about two weeks to receive one by mail, they printed out an agency letter for me. Don't understand some of the negative comments about the security guard, maybe there expecting coffee and doughnuts but the guard was very professional and courteous.

This office is a joke. Windows 1-3 are with the waiting room so everyone can hear your business. No privacy! I had a 10am appointment that they couldnu2019t find in computer. I had to show my paperwork and a voicemail to just to have them tell me theyu2019ll u201cwork me inu201d. Seriously? So now the rest of my appointments for the day Iu2019m going to be late for or cancel because of your mistake. No apology or anything. Ridiculous!

The woman I spoke to on the phone today was rude, obviously hated her job, and was in no way helpful at all. She literally provided no viable solution. In the future, please provide training to your employees.

The minute you enter the building, the officer asks you if you have an appointment. You don't need one , but he immediately makes you feel uncomfortable. He points to where you log in on the computer and waits for you to sit down in a seat before telling youwhereyou need to sit. He is standing , chatting as loudly as he likes, before telling the awaiting applicants to lower their voices. He is proving his authority where none is needed. How many more customers need to be treated as second rate citizens before this changes?

I walked in without an appointment and waited no longer than 15 minutes to be helped. The service was fast and the man at the window was friendly and pleasant to talk to. The security guard also helped me with the door since I was carrying my daughter. I'm very pleased with the service I received.

Went in was asked if had an appointment. Was told to take a number by an unpleasant security guard. Waited hour just to be told needed an appointment. Was told receive a letter in a week with my appointment time and date. 3 weeks went by so I called the number on the card I was given. 4 days later still waiting for a return call. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Wished i had some other recourse but dont.

Lady was extremely rude and hung up on me instead of giving me the information I asked for. It seems to me that no one is doing their job at our local social security office!!!!

Can't get anyone to Answer. Called two more times. Waited on hold an hour the man started taking info and Literally hung up. Called yesterday was on hold an hour and a half. The woman Valerie answered. I gave my name, SS# and She HUNG UP. How in the Hell can a Government Office treat the public this way. I was trying to be Honest and Report what they ask you to Report. Maybe I shouldn't bother. They don't care. The GOVERNMENT Stinks! ud83dude21 When I'm bedbound the majority of the time, what should I do go to the office and sit all day with no Appointment just to ask questions and Report info? They are full of ud83dudca9

The Security Officer was very unprofessional and rude the whole time we were there. The staff was also rude when all we wanted to was to sign up for Medicaid. They used to have friendly staff and an extremely helpful and nice security officer about a year ago. I don't know where they got these new people from.

I had a phone appointment at 2 and never received a call. Called multiple times till the office closed and left messages for a call back. Very unhappy with this office.

While a bit abrupt, the representative was professional and helpful. They are not there for chit-chat, preferring efficient in & out processing. I can appreciate that.

I went to the social security office in Winchester Va on 9/30 at 3:30 pm to get a replacement card because mine was stolen when I was a baby. The security officer in the building was absolutely ridiculous and treated me and my parents like trash. We were only in the building for 2 mins and left because he was harassing us for no apparent reason.

phone number on their door doesn't work, no help whatsoever.

Security guard very pleasant, instructive and caring. System for triaging purpose of visit not bad. Communicating thru the glass and seating for those with disabilities challenging.

Was told I had to set in a low setting chair with a bad back knowing I can't get up... they won't let you set with your minor child or let you move to a place where you can set down... this building sucks and does not cater to those with disabilities or with people who have come to do business and have to have there children with them. Not a friendly or organized place
    Nise S
I like it. It's an in and out process. The longest I had to wait was 20 mins and that is bc they were closed for the holiday. The officer at the door is hilarious as well.
